What is going on YouTube
0:08
Prepared Wanderer back at it. It is a new year and this is going to be the first video for this year and I hope you guys
0:17
like it because what we're going to be talking about is getting your gear organized with
0:24
a plethora, there's my million dollar word for the year, of pouches and products from
0:31
a manufacturer, or a maker I should say, that I have enjoyed working with over the years
0:38
Tough Possum Gear. If you don't know Tough Possum Gear, you need to do some research and check out his website
0:46
and do some Googling and some YouTube sleuthing and you will find that he makes some really
0:54
awesome, made in the USA products that are just second to none and will really help get
1:02
your EDC, your bushcraft, your tactical, your survival gear, backpacking gear, whatever
1:07
you're into, that outdoor stuff, get it all organized because no one likes having a backpack
1:16
that is disorganized and you can't find anything. So I'm going to go through all the Tough Possum Gear products that I own and that I
1:24
use and I'm going to show you in depth what they look like and how I use them and just
1:32
kind of talk about their features and hopefully you guys will get something out of this because
1:38
getting organized is a big deal for me. I like to keep my gear packed and ready to go and Tough Possum Gear just makes some really
1:47
awesome stuff that helps me stay organized. So stick around, we're going to get into it, it's going to be a good video and should be fun
1:55
Alright guys, so this is it. This is my collection of Tough Possum Gear and this does not include my Shackleton EDC
2:07
bag which I did a review on a while back ago. Make sure you check that out, that's a pretty cool video
2:15
But this is it. These are all the pouches that I have been collecting and procuring from Tough Possum
2:22
Gear this past year and as you can tell there is a wide variety of sizes and purposes for
2:35
these bags, for these pouches and if you're looking to get organized this year, if that's
2:40
your New Year's resolution, get your gear organized, Tough Possum Gear may be the way
2:46
to go. So we're just going to jump into it. I'm going to go through these one by one, tell you what they're called, give you some
2:53
dimensions and talk about them a little bit, how I utilize them and hopefully that gives
2:58
you some ideas on what you can do with your gear and how you can get it organized
3:03
Right off the top here we have the PSK pouch and if I remember correctly this was designed
3:14
in coordination with another YouTuber, the name escapes me, I think it's, if I remember
3:23
correctly because I've seen some of his videos, he's a flight medic and this is something
3:28
that he designed with Tough Possum Gear and came up with this pouch
3:32
Now what's cool about this pouch is the material that it's made of
3:38
This is XPAK, it's a laminated material so it has a decent amount of waterproofness or
3:46
water resistance and as you can see this is a sealed zipper system so that's going to
3:54
help keep water out of your gear. Now this is labeled PSK which stands for Personal Survival Kit
4:04
Of course you can utilize it for that. I'm using mine and have mine packed out as a first aid kit because I thought that was
4:11
a good application. Now one thing to note is I've added this zipper pull to mine
4:20
One thing you don't want to do with this particular zipper is you don't want to cut this metal
4:26
tab off because this has kind of a locking system to it and if you cut that off it's
4:31
going to mess up the zipper and it's not going to work properly. So if you do want to add a zipper pull you just need to run it through the end here and
4:40
that will work. What's really nice about this little pouch is that it has this grab handle and that allows
4:49
it to go into a BDU pocket on your pant leg or even your jacket pocket
4:56
It slips nicely into the EDC Shackleton inside pocket so it fits perfectly in there
5:03
So that's kind of originally why I had it done is I had to put it into my Shackleton
5:09
bag as my first aid kit and that's the way I'm using it
5:14
So the dimensions on this are 5 by 6 and a half inches
5:21
It's a very simple pouch, it's just an envelope style and then I've got all my little first
5:26
aid supplies in here, a little boo boo kit. You can see that laminated material from the inside
5:37
It's slick, it's not a porous material, it's very slick so really good water resistance
5:45
And then you've got this kind of haplen rubberized material pull tab here which is great for
5:52
attaching a carabiner or for grabbing on to it or holding it when you're zipping it open
5:57
or shut. So really a nice pouch, love this thing. This is really one of the cooler pouches he's come out with recently and you have to
6:09
let your imagination run wild on how you're going to use it so there's that one
6:14
So this pouch here, this is the 8 by 10 center zip pouch
6:19
This one comes in multiple colors, different colors, ranger green, coyote I think
6:25
And then if you check out his website he does a lot of specialized camos so he'll come out
6:31
with, he'll buy some fabric and then make a run of different colors
6:37
And as you go through these pouches you're going to see the different kind of camos that he has and there's always different special colors that he'll come out with so you can
6:44
buy different sized pouches in different camos. So you just need to keep checking his website to see this
6:50
But for this pouch I've added some 550 cord to the pull on this and once again we've got
6:58
this haplen rubberized material for the pull tabs on the end. And in here I've got this set up really for my hunting pack
7:07
This goes with the, when I go deer hunting this has a glow stick, some 550 cord, there's
7:13
a knife sharpener, fire starting materials in here. So it just kind of, you know, collects all those small little items that end up in the
7:22
bottom of your bag and puts them all in one spot. So it really helps keep my hunting pack organized
7:29
So this pouch is another Possibles pouch, the Center Zip, but this one is 6x8
7:38
Now currently I don't, I didn't find this on his website. So he may be sold out of these or I don't know, I don't think they're discontinued but
7:47
once again a different color. This is the Reveal Tunnel Rat, Reveal Tunnel Rat camo
8:00
So he's made a lot of pouches in this recently. This one I've actually removed the metal zipper pull and put in 550 cord, not 550 cord but
8:10
just kind of an accessory cord on it just to quiet that zipper pull down that allows
8:15
me to customize it. This is a Cordura, 500D Cordura material. This size pouch is really nice for smaller bags like haversacks
8:26
It makes for a great fire kit pouch. I've done that with this in the past
8:31
It works out really well for that. Keeps the small stuff organized and since that's 6x8 size it fits into smaller pockets
8:41
and bags pretty easily. This is the Pocket Tool pouch. This measures out at 5x3.5 I believe
8:52
Same deal here. We've got the pull tabs on the end. Of course I've replaced the zipper on this one with some accessory cord and in here I've
9:02
got another first aid kit built out. So this is another little boo-boo kit
9:05
It kind of goes in one of my smaller bags that I carry
9:14
I think this goes in my haversack right now. I'm using it for that
9:18
Just a nice little small pouch. This would be nice really for like your cords, electronic accessories like charging cords
9:28
things like that, SD cards, camera batteries, batteries for your flashlight or headlamp
9:35
So a lot of possibilities with this pouch. Nice little size. This one is the Pocket Possibles pouch
9:43
I'm starting to get all these names confused. I'm hoping I'm getting all these right but I think I am
9:49
I've got them all written down here so this is helping me remember this stuff
9:52
But this is the Pocket Possibles pouch. Now what's cool about this one is this is built of a stretchy nylon material so there's
10:00
a little bit of give to it. And that gives it kind of a 3D effect
10:07
It's able to expand a little bit. What I've got in here is, and I think this is just a perfect application for this particular
10:13
pouch, is I have my ammo for my slingshot. It really holds it nicely
10:20
I can add more to it pretty quickly and it expands to hold it pretty well
10:26
It's just a nifty little pouch. Of course, you know, you can do whatever you want with it but that's what I've got mine for
10:31
So this holds my slingshot ammo. This big boy, this is the General Purpose pouch
10:42
This is kind of a unique pouch because it is a little bit bigger than most but it has
10:50
D-rings on the side. And the reasoning behind that is that if you want to turn this pouch into actually a carry
10:57
pouch and put a strap on it, you can do that. You can also attach this very easily with some clips to a sternum strap or backpack
11:05
straps and this can become a chest pouch or front-loading pouch on your backpack
11:12
So there's some really nice possibilities with that. And of course, it's more of a rectangle shape than the other pouches and it has a little
11:23
bit of width built into it. Can you see that? And this measures 7x9x2
11:33
And what I've done with this pouch is I use this when I go camping
11:38
This is my kitchen pouch. So what I'll keep in here is my utensils, a folding cup, salt, pepper, coffee, condiments
11:50
all those little doodads that you need for cooking, a cleanup rag, whatever
11:56
So all that stuff kind of goes in here and then that goes in my backpack and that has really worked out well for that application
12:02
I like that for that. I use it quite a bit. It's probably one of my more well-used pouches
12:10
I fill this thing up all the time when I go camping and it comes with me
12:14
I just really find it invaluable. It's a great size. I just love this size
12:25
This pouch right here, this is the 8x10 tool pouch. And this is a little bit different than the rest as well because it is a rectangle but
12:34
it's flat. There is no gusset built into it. There's no width to it
12:41
It's a flat pouch. But because of the size, 8x10, it's very generous
12:48
You can get a lot of stuff in here. And what I have been kind of messing with on this one is I actually turned this into
12:56
a shelter kit pouch because the size of it, you can get tent stakes in here pretty easily
13:03
get your ridge line, your tie outs, and even stuff a small emergency tarp or space blanket
13:12
in here, no problem. So this would make a really nice shelter kit kind of slash survival bag
13:26
Once again, it's got the pull tabs on the sides. It's kind of standard with a lot of his stuff
13:30
Of course, I replaced the zipper with this accessory cord again. And once again, this is the tunnel rack camo
13:42
And one of my favorite pieces of gear is my canteen set
13:47
And I use it all the time. It gets moved around from bag to bag to bag
13:52
But one thing about my canteen set is that it gets used on an open flame and in fires
14:00
campfires all the time. So it is dirty. And you can see that
14:12
So I'm using this in camping, and I'm using this on an open fire
14:17
This thing gets really sooty, and I always don't want to clean it up in the field
14:21
So if I put this in my backpack or in my haversack or a pocket, it's going to transfer all that
14:26
soot and dirt to the inside of my bag. And I really like to keep my stuff clean as possible
14:35
Well, this is the solution that he came up with, and this is the Tough Possum Gear canteen sleeve
14:44
And this fits my titanium canteen set perfectly. Now, I'm not sure what other canteen sets it will fit
14:57
It may fit some of the other ones, like the Pathfinder has a canteen set
15:03
It may or may not fit that. I don't know. I've only used it with this
15:07
And of course, this is in multicam. That's a color that he runs a lot with his pouches
15:14
But this is a really just a simple product. It's ingenious. It solves a problem
15:23
It's lightweight, and it's really not that expensive of an add-on to your canteen kit
15:29
So if you want to keep your canteen or bottle kit from transferring dirt to your pack or
15:36
pouch or pocket, this is the way to go. Love this thing. Great
15:42
I've had this one. One of the older pieces of Tough Possum Gear that I've had, I've had it for quite a while
15:49
and use it all the time. Now, one of the more unique pieces of gear that he has come out with is done in conjunction
16:02
with Program J. And Program J is a dude I've known for quite a while
16:13
He was originally on Bushcraft USA. He is a maker of all kinds of cool leather goods
16:21
He does a lot of knife, sheaths, and holsters. And lately, he's been coming up with some really cool EDC tactical kind of ninja gear
16:33
that is just really well thought out and neat. This is the Program J Field Pouch
16:41
And it's based on a military pouch design. I believe this is based on a shotgun shell pouch that the military has or has had
16:52
But what he's done is he's added some different features to this thing so it's a little bit
16:57
more than just a pouch. And what I mean by that is, in the back here, you've got loops that are sewn into this
17:06
So this can actually be put on a belt or onto a backpack strap or attached to a larger pack
17:13
in some way. There are D-rings built into the sides. And it comes with an adjustable shoulder strap
17:24
So now you can wear this around your shoulders as a side bag
17:31
You could wear it around your waist as a waist pack, wear it around your neck as a neck pouch
17:36
I mean, there's just a lot of different possibilities of how you use this. But if you don't want to use the shoulder strap and just use the pouch itself, those
17:45
come off very easily. And of course, we've got Tough Possum Gear logo
17:51
And then there is Program J's logo right there. Check him out on Instagram
17:59
He makes lots of cool photos and posts of his gear and how he uses the stuff that he
18:04
comes up with. He makes all kinds of neat little things. This field pouch is just such a killer design
18:13
And also there's webbing built into the sides here that have loops
18:17
I've got a little mini carabiner attached to mine. And what I've done with mine is I've made this into a, basically, a grab and go survival kit
18:30
So this is something that I can throw into a bigger backpack when I go out in the woods
18:38
and have all the little survival stuff and fire stuff, making stuff that I need in one pouch
18:46
I can throw this over my shoulder and then go out away from camp and I at least have
18:51
some minimal gear with me. And this thing, it really does hold quite a bit
18:57
And it's perfect if you are into these small tin survival kits
19:06
This is one I've made up. I'm not going to go through it because this video is really not about that
19:10
But this is kind of a larger than an Altoids tin and it has all kinds of survival goodies
19:17
in it. But I also have some toilet paper, got a little bit of cordage
19:30
I have a flexible military saw, of course a Bic lighter
19:40
And then also in here I have another Tough Possum gear product
19:50
This is the Survival Notebook Wallet. And it's really just a cool little thing
19:57
It's a velcro sleeve that comes with this little notebook
20:12
And I believe this is waterproof. This is a Wright and Raine product, so yes it's a waterproof paper
20:23
This comes with it and this slips in the sleeve like that
20:34
But you've also got a sleeve over here and of course you've got room in the sleeve that
20:38
the notebook goes in. I've got like a little EZ survival card that comes with the EZ knives in the back of mine
20:48
But you can load this thing up and use it as a wallet. So if you have a need to have a notebook and a wallet together, this would work
20:56
You could also build a small kit or a boo-boo kit or survival kit and put that in the back
21:02
of this to go with the notebook. So there's a lot of room to expand this and it's just a cool little item
21:11
Great EDC item for those everyday carry. But I just love it
21:16
It's a neat little notebook that I can throw in my field pouch
21:20
It fits in there perfectly and I still got tons of room to add other stuff
21:27
So great pouch, really well thought out. Currently this pouch is sold out, but if you keep checking back with Program J on his Instagram
21:45
and checking the website for Tough Possum Gear, you will eventually, these will come
21:50
back online. And they usually come in different colors. This is a special run of the Tunnel Rat, but he's done these in the past
21:57
And Coyote, Multicam Black, Odie Green, maybe a Ranger Green. He's done some different colors in the past
22:06
So just keep looking for these. They will come available again. And they don't make a lot of them and they sell out really quick
22:15
So if you want these, you need to jump on it. I was lucky enough to get one and I really dig it
22:23
It's such a cool pouch and I love, love this Tunnel Rat camo
22:28
It's such a great camo, especially for my area, Eastern Woodlands. It really blends in well
22:37
It's just cool. There's just a cool factor with this. So this is my super high speed, low drag, ninja pouch with my survival gear
22:47
Love it. All right, so as you can probably tell, there's just a lot of possibilities with these pouches
22:54
that Tough Possum Gear makes. And these aren't all of them that are on the website
22:58
There are actually more. There are a lot of different ones that I don't have
23:04
And there's other products too. He sells, of course, the EDC Shackleton bag, which I did a review on
23:12
There is a really nice first aid pouch that he sells. There are some kneeling sit pads that he makes
23:23
Just a variety of really cool items that you need to check out
23:28
So please check out his website and support him. He's an Ohio guy
23:37
Really a great young man. I've met him before, talked to him several times
23:42
Just a really decent human being. And he's really trying to build his business
23:48
And he's been very successful with it. He really has done an outstanding job in the few years that he's been doing this
23:56
And his products, as you can tell, are just really well made
24:00
All made in the USA. Small batch manufacturing. All sewn by him
24:09
And him and his family do the fulfillment and run the website and do all that stuff
24:16
So there will be a link down below to Tough Possum Gear
24:20
Also check out Program J on Instagram. He's pretty easy to find
24:25
He's got some cool stuff on his Instagram. And you can see the stuff that he comes up with
24:31
And as always, thanks for watching the channel. Thanks for supporting the channel
24:37
Please check out the links down below because there's a few things that have changed
24:41
