Houseplant Watering while Traveling

I love traveling. But I hate the uncertainty of asking a friend or neighbor to come over and water my houseplants. Very rarely do they do a good job! So I was super excited when my friend showed me this cool little watering system that supplies the plants' roots with water when they are thirsty. It is called the 'Blumat' watering system and essentially you place a stake that has a small reservoir into the soil and the stake is connected via a plastic tube to a glass of water and as the soil dries out and the roots become thirsty, water is automatically siphoned over to the plant. I'm very excited to see how my plants perform with this system, because as many of you know, I'm always on the go! It's hard to be a traveling gardener, but try we must.
