So it's been a while since I did my last health update and today I am going to focus on something different
0:07
And the focus today is going to be weight loss and that is something positive because I have managed to lose a little bit of weight and that is something that has been a struggle for me before
0:20
A couple of months ago I had my last check-in with my neurologist
0:26
He's actually a new neurologist for me because the last one, queer
0:32
And he told me that maybe my disease is related to my weight
0:39
So he really emphasized that I should try and lose some weight
0:45
I have been trying to lose weight before and it hasn't succeeded
0:48
And I always been eating and drinking good. So that's not a problem for me
0:56
and I've always been physically active, but I have been prone to gain weight
1:05
My doctor told me that there is some kind of evidence that my idiopathic intracranial
1:13
hypertension scientifically can be linked to an higher BMI. about that but either way I decided to double down on losing weight because there is some
1:34
other positive health benefits from that and I also have a history in my family of high blood
1:41
pressure and heart disease and strokes and so on so it's just a good thing to lose weight
1:46
In the end of February my weight was about 111 kilos and today it was down to 105 kilos
1:59
That doesn't sound much but it is still quite a good amount of weight that I have lost since February
2:13
And my goal has always been not to lose weight fast because
2:17
I don't think that is healthy. I have always had a goal of losing weight a bit slow so my body
2:24
can adapt to it and if you look at the spreadsheet that I have done that is something that I have
2:31
managed to do and in order to lose weight I have had some rearrangements with my food I
2:40
mostly only eat vegetarian now cut it down on almost all meat and I
2:47
After I did that in February I started to slowly lose weight and the last couple of weeks I have also
2:55
Significantly reduced the amount of bread that I eat it has had a positive effect on my
3:02
my weight to be honest so I'm gonna continue with that so obviously physical exercise is important for losing weight
3:13
burning more calories than you eat is important I don't count all my calories that I eat, I completely skip that and I don't think that is healthy to do
3:23
So don't do that. I just think that is not healthy to do
3:30
But anyway, I either hit a gym or a go out running when I have the energy for it
3:35
Sometimes I have to hold back on my physical exercise because if I have a bad flare with my chronic illness it a waste of time with physical exercise because it will just make my symptoms worse
3:50
And now you probably wonder, have my symptoms decreased with losing weight
3:57
And the very short answer to that is, no, it has not
4:04
I still have a lot of symptoms for my idiopathic intracranial hypertension
4:10
I still sometimes have a blurry vision and I get frequent headaches and I'm nauseated
4:19
and I'm just extremely tired. I have all the classical symptoms of idiopathic intra-graining or hypertension and it has not been
4:29
better since I started to lose weight. But I'm in it for a long run and maybe it will have an effect in the long run
4:38
But it's a bit frustrating that my doctor told me to lose weight and it might be better for my illness and I still have quite a lot of symptoms
4:52
So, yeah, I'm not so sure that idiopathic intracial hypertension is related to weight that much
5:05
But here's the deal. And science says it is linked, high weight and idiopathic intercranial hypotension
5:15
I don't know if the evidence is strong or not, but it seems to be some link with that
5:21
So I have to go with that. And maybe in the long run, he's right
5:30
And I hope he's right. But you see I look at this this way even if I still have persistent symptoms of my chronic neurological illness losing weight has just made things so much easier for me because there are so many health benefits with losing weights like your blood pressure drops your pulse drops
5:56
it has a positive effect on my mental health and my mood and my anxiety has gone down
6:05
It is just so great to do. But it's hard work. There are no quick fixes with this
6:11
You need to be hardworking. You need to be persistent and you need to have some discipline
6:18
But I just want to say one thing more about the sugary things and stuff like that
6:23
I haven't completely cut that out because, sometimes you want to be able to have a candy bar or something like that and it is okay for me
6:33
I think it's okay it's just not going to be in a massive amount and I have never eaten that
6:43
kind of stuff like massively so maybe it's not a problem for me but if it is for you then
6:51
it is okay to eat a little bit of that just have caught
6:56
control over it. Something I never touch is sodas and energy drinks because they are just so bad for your health
7:05
But anyway, this was some positive news for me and hit the like button, leave a comment, subscribe
7:12
It helps me spread knowledge about my idiopathic intercr hypertension, which is the focus of my videos
7:19
And I really, really, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate that you are watching my vlog and
7:26
With that said, thank you and see you in the next one. Bye
