Hey guys, Ben here on behalf of United Yacht Sales and welcome back to the channel
0:12
I'm here in Bonaire come hell, high water, or coronavirus for the survey and sea trial
0:18
of a Lagoon 400 owner version on behalf of a client of mine
0:23
And while I'm here I'm going to do a video walkthrough of the Lagoon 400 owner version
0:30
It's a boat I like quite a lot. It's a boat I think people also would want to see and I'd probably be struggle to find
0:37
one available for shooting back in the States. So I might as well take the opportunity to get it done right now
0:44
All right, so we're on the port side sugar scoop looking down
0:47
We've got steps to the water as well as a foldable swim ladder. We'll take a look in the mechanical space real quick
0:58
You've got wooden slats so that you can have extra storage here
1:01
I'll flash some footage I took of the engine yesterday though just so that you can see
1:06
what it looks like. Looking aft we have the davits and the dinghy
1:14
Now I know what you're thinking. Ben, that looks terrible. And you're right
1:18
It does look terrible. But that's the key word. It looks terrible
1:24
So despite the fact that yes, it has its fair share of cosmetic issues, and yes, it even
1:28
has its fair share of deferred maintenance issues. The actual wear and tear on this vessel is actually pretty low
1:35
It's never been chartered. It's only been used privately by the owner
1:39
And even during that time, he only took about three to four trips a year on the boat and
1:45
only around the Caribbean. So all in all, it doesn't add up to a whole lot
1:49
So yes, appearances are important, but they aren't everything. And I'm not really going to nitpick this boat during this walkthrough because I've already
1:56
issued this disclaimer and I don't really want the walkthrough to be about this boat
2:00
in particular. I'm just reviewing the Lagoon 400 in general and some of its features and why you might
2:06
want to buy one. All right, explanation over. Enough shenanigans. Back to the tour
2:10
You've got a grill mounted up here. The starboard side mechanical space, which is mirror of image of the port
2:19
We'll look at the cockpit. You've got to step down into some teak flooring
2:23
You've got a day bed up there with the helm station, fiberglass table, as well as a nice
2:27
big U-shaped settee. Fiberglass or teak, you know, I think both kinds of tables are pretty nice in my opinion
2:37
On the side, we've got flush mounted hatching, a single shroud, as well as a pair of handholds
2:46
Keep going forward. You've got seating up there on the bow. One storage space for starboard, another storage space for port, and it has a mesh style trampoline
2:58
So it's not the most comfortable, but you can lay a cushion on it like this and it is
3:03
very safe. It won't hold a huge amount of water, so there's very little risk of it ripping out
3:08
You've got a spinnaker up there, a spinnaker pole up there for running light air sails
3:14
a furling genoa, and the windlass system on the Lagoon 400 is fiberglass gangway, so
3:20
the anchor rests up on the cross beam. This boat was kept in the ABC Islands for most of its life, so the owner, he had some
3:29
friends who of course really like diving, which is a big thing here
3:33
So it comes with a dive compressor, and there's a space for your anchor chain as well
3:44
You've got the signature vertical lagoon windows along with a pair of hatches for ventilating the salon
4:01
So you can see all the lines are led back to the cockpit where we've got three Harken winches
4:08
And this boat, it's a lot of boat for a 39 to 40 foot catamaran, but it's not intimidating
4:15
so it's very easy for a couple to manage this. Up here we've got the original Raymarine chartplotter
4:25
It works fine. The electronics on this boat are all good, though maybe in a couple years the owners
4:30
will upgrade to something newer, B&G or Garmin, but for now it's alright
4:37
You've got your throttles here, a bag for storing your excess line, as well as the foot
4:43
pedals are mounted up here, so you can operate them easily from the bolster seat
4:50
And you also have a sat phone system, and a traveler on the end
4:59
So since the current owner's use of the boat was rather sparse, he chose to forego any
5:03
sort of real solar setup. Inside you've got an Onan generator underneath the cockpit seating
5:11
Doesn't have particularly high hours and runs great. We'll make our way inside, as you can see, you can slide out this window, really opens
5:19
up the salon and cockpit connection. In here you've got an L-shaped settee with ottoman seating, a forward facing nav station
5:28
with more Raymarine electronics, and a galley. Here we've got the refrigerator, and freezers in the other cabinet
5:39
Three burner stove, so you can see an Expresso machine, which tells you a little bit about
5:44
the owner. An E&O stove, and this is the Lagoon 400, which was made between 2009 and 2012
5:58
The Lagoon 400 S2 is a little different in its interior arrangement, but other than that
6:03
it's the same whole. You've got your generator breakers down here, as well as a switch for the generator
6:12
And the main electrical panel is here. We'll head to the owner's side now
6:21
You've got a nice sliding door, if you want to keep out outside sounds from the salon
6:28
for increased privacy. A really functional seating area down here, desk for working, as well as Lagoon is really
6:37
generous of course with storage space, so you've got just a huge shelving locker
6:44
You've got more storage up here, semi-walk around berth for the owner's suite, and of
6:55
course more storage underneath the bed, as well as another hanging locker
7:14
Look at the owner's head, all the toilets on this boat are electric flush
7:20
The headroom in here is pretty good, though you still do have to watch your head if you're
7:25
tall on the passageways. You've got a nice stand-up shower with a wand and sliding door, swinging door rather
7:43
And we'll check out the guests as well. The headroom in this boat is really good
7:53
You've got a V-berth up here, which can turn into a double if you so please
7:58
Hanging locker, same as the owner's. And this is, all the guest heads on here are wet heads though
8:05
They are plenty spacious, so no need to make your guests feel that they're being spurned
8:14
As well as a double cabin in the aft guest, semi-walk around as well
8:24
Lagoon adds these privacy shades to the windows, though in this case the owner has opted to
8:29
remove them. And the final head on this boat, with your sink and, actually the guest heads don't have
8:42
vanities, but you're still not hurting for storage on here. So that is the Lagoon 400 owner version
8:52
Another really great owner version you can get for under $400,000. Or like this boat, maybe more around $300,000 if you decide to go for the older non-S2 version
