Mercado Central Valencia Spain: Central Market For Fresh Fo...

The Mercado Central Valencia is probably the most visited attraction in Valencia. Over 1000 stalls offering everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, not to mention meat, fish, nuts, and cheese. It is quite impressive and if you are a foodie, you can spend an awfully long time just wandering about. The architecture of the building is also amazing, a Goth modern style that is distinctively Valenciano. Here's a look. Lately, the fishmongers have become very snooty and no longer allow pictures to be taken in most of the stalls :-(. Valencia Estacion del Norte, The Valencia Train Station.

Valencia estacion del norte, or estacion del nord or just the Valencia Train Station for the rest of us, is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, there is not much traveling going on for anybody these days, but here is a look at this beautiful train station that connects Valencia to the rest of the country. It's kind of sad to see so empty, especially now when millions would have invaded the city for the Fallas festivities. Follow the link to read all about it if you don't know what it is about. #valencia #train station #estacion del norte https://nextbiteoflife.com/fallas-in-valencia-spain-experience/ Hopefully the good days will return sooner than later.

How is Valencia now? especially as the pandemic rages on? In this video, we take a walk through the center starting at the ayuntamiento (city hall) and making our way through the old center in the El Carmen neighborhood, a very popular area with expats in Valencia. Everyone is masked up, but unfortunately, there are a lot of stores and restaurants that have closed. Perhaps forever. We also visit our favorite Italian restaurant Anómalo at the end of our walk for some good old-fashioned home- cooking. Valencia is stunning, especially on this Fall day. #valencia #elcarmen #expatlife

We went shopping for meat and veggies in Valencia at our neighborhood fruteria and local owned small grocery store which caters to expats from all over the world. While we do the bulk of our shopping at the big supermarket, there are some things you can't get there, such as tripe and special seasonings, etc. We also much prefer getting our veggies from the small fruterias that are on just about every street. Fresh veggies and fruit, and you get to know the people. #shopping #valencia #expatlife

Peniscola Valencia: Visit the Gibraltar Of Valencia

A visit to Peniscola Valencia, a city in the province often referred to as the "city in the sea" or the Gibraltar of Valencia because of the 13th-century fortress that is the Peñiscola Castle. A two-hour train ride from the Estacion del Nord in a regional train brought us to Benicarlo from where you would need a cab or bus (when they run in normal times, pre covid). A lovely beach town that is worthy of a visit. #peniscola #valencia

Cabanyal Valencia Spain: Visiting The El Cabanyal Barrio

Cabanyal Valencia Spain: visiting the hip neighborhood that used to be a fishing village. Quite a mixture of architecture, from newer apartment building to rundown but colorful ones. Considered a desirable place to live because of its closeness to the beach. Check it out and decide for yourself. Lots of amenities, like the El Cabanyal market, big gym and supermarkets so it has everything. Rental prices are super high for the most part because expats seem to be flocking there. It's also popular with students because they can squeeze a lot of people in the flats and a college closeby. #cabanyal #el cabañal #valencia

Where To Live In Valencia Spain: Arrancapins Neighborhood

Where To Live In Valencia Spain. This is the first of me venturing out to capture different barrios to live if considering a move to Valencia. The Arrancapins area is my favorite barrio and had we been able to afford an apartment there, I would have stayed there for sure. Prices had gone up immensely by the time we bought (when we moved in, we were happy to see flats for about 100,000 for 3 bedrooms, and by the time we were ready, they had doubled in price. Arrancapins is part of the Extramurs district ( along with Botànic, La Roqueta, and La Petxina where we've also lived before). I love it because it has a nice mixture of locals and ex-pats (seeing upticks of more and more ex-pats). It has all the perks of Russafa without the hifalutinness (yes, l know 😀). Lower cost of apartments, nice mix of buildings, a massive gym, lots of restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. Russafa is nice, don't get me wrong, but l find that there is a cult of pretentious blowhards who think the sun shines and sets there, like they're trying to make it Valencia's version of the Hamptons, only they're not rich, but rather people with a bit of money who now feel rich compared to others because of their lower costs of living. Thankfully, it's not the majority of them. In Arrancapins, I see people with stealth money, the ones who don't feel the need to prove themselves to anyone, sort of like old money people. It's quite interesting to see and observe. Once again, let me say this is strictly MY observation and it's okay if you don't agree. Albufera Natural Park In Valencia: Center for Interpretation

The Albufera natural park in Valencia is located just seven miles outside the city and can be reached by public transportation (€1.50 each way). Over 50 hectacres, there is plenty to do if you love nature. Canoeing from the nearby towns to get upclose to the birds and marsh vegetation, hiking and biking trails and even campground sites. Paella, the national dish, originated from the rice fields that can be found in Albufera and there are plenty of restaurants that serve this delicious dish, either seafood ones, or the original with rabbit and chicken, and sometimes snail. Find out more on the blogpost on https://expatinvalencia.com For sure, this won't be the last time at this nature park in Valencia. We were pressed for time so we didn't find any places open. Paella is eaten for lunch in Valencia and so most restaurants shut down after lunch. #albufera #natural park #valencia
