hello my friends it's Danny it's Danny
0:03
hello my friends it's Danny and today I
0:06
am showing you how to make
0:07
chocolatecovered raspberry chia drops
0:10
now if you enjoy chocolatecovered
0:12
strawberries you're going to love these
0:13
chocolatecovered raspberry chia drops
0:15
because they are so delicious they're
0:18
easy to make and the best part is that
0:20
they only require five ingredients all
0:22
you need is raspberries chia seeds your
0:26
favorite chocolate bar a tiny bit of
0:28
coconut oil and some good flaky sea salt
0:32
so here's what we're going to do i start
0:34
by lining a quarter sheet pan with a
0:36
little bit of parchment paper we'll set
0:38
that aside and then I have 6 oz which is
0:42
170 g of fresh raspberries and I'm just
0:45
going to give this a rinse under some
0:46
cold water get them nice and clean and
0:49
then I'll just gently transfer them to a
0:50
clean kitchen towel and pat them dry
0:54
they don't have to be completely dry but
0:56
you just want to get off any excess
0:57
moisture then I'm going to transfer the
1:00
raspberries into a small bowl and using
1:03
the back of the fork I'm just going to
1:05
mash the raspberries up until they are
1:08
broken down and it looks very similar to
1:10
a raspberry puree you're going to see
1:12
this is very easy to do because the
1:14
raspberries are rather soft and easy to
1:16
work with so this should just take you
1:18
about a minute or so and yes you can
1:21
absolutely use frozen raspberries if
1:23
that's what you have on hand you just
1:24
want to let them defrost a bit so
1:26
they're not frozen through and you're
1:28
able to mash them down now once you have
1:31
what looks like raspberry jam you're
1:34
going to add in 1 tbsp of chia seeds
1:37
chia seeds are a great source of fiber
1:40
great source of omega-3 fatty acids and
1:42
they're going to help to thicken up this
1:44
puree just a little bit so once I have
1:46
the two ingredients combined I'm just
1:49
going to let this sit on the counter for
1:50
about 5 or 10 minutes because those chia
1:53
seeds are very absorbent so they're
1:55
going to absorb some of the liquid from
1:57
the raspberry and that's what's going to
1:58
help for this mixture to thicken up just
2:01
a little bit okay so this is looking
2:03
good you can see that the mixture has
2:04
thickened up just a little bit so now
2:07
I'm going to grab a tablespoon scoop up
2:09
about a tablespoon of this raspberry
2:11
chia mixture and I'm just going to drop
2:14
it onto the prepared baking sheet and
2:16
you're just going to drop it into a
2:17
little round like I have here and then
2:19
I'm going to repeat that until I've
2:21
worked through all of the raspberry
2:23
puree you're going to end up with
2:25
somewhere between eight and 10 raspberry
2:27
chia drops depending on how big or small
2:29
you make them then I'm going to take the
2:31
tray and I'm going to pop it in my
2:32
freezer and just let it sit in there for
2:35
somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes you
2:37
just want those raspberry chia bites to
2:39
set up and freeze through it really
2:41
doesn't take very long at all it gives
2:43
you just enough time to clean up your
2:44
kitchen and get the rest of your
2:45
ingredients prepped and ready to go then
2:47
right before I take those frozen
2:49
raspberry chia bites out of the freezer
2:51
I'm going to melt my chocolate so I have
2:54
6 oz of a dark chocolate bar i'm going
2:56
to give it a rough chop and then
2:58
transfer that into a small microwave
3:00
safe bowl and I'm going to add one
3:02
teaspoon of coconut oil to that now keep
3:04
in mind you could use any type of
3:06
chocolate you love or prefer here
3:08
semieet chocolate milk chocolate dark
3:10
chocolate they all work now I'm going to
3:12
pop this into my microwave i let it go
3:14
for about 30 seconds or so then I will
3:17
give it a stir and then pop it back in
3:18
for another 10 10 to 20 seconds every
3:21
microwave varies so you just want to
3:23
keep an eye on your chocolate and if you
3:24
don't want to use the microwave you
3:26
could melt your chocolate in a double
3:28
boiler over your stove top so the
3:30
chocolate looks beautiful it's silky and
3:33
melted and ready for some dipping so
3:36
I've got my frozen raspberry chia bites
3:39
you can see that they've set up and
3:40
they're frozen through i'm just going to
3:42
drop one into the chocolate and then use
3:44
my spoon to coat it make sure it's
3:47
coated on all sides with chocolate
3:48
you'll see that this makes a rather
3:50
thick and delightful coating of
3:52
chocolate and then I'm going to place it
3:54
back on the rimmed baking sheet and then
3:57
while that chocolate is still wet I like
3:58
to just take a pinch of a good flaky sea
4:01
salt and sprinkle it right over the top
4:03
and I will absolutely link to my
4:06
favorite flaky sea salt down in the
4:08
description box below if you are in the
4:10
market for a good flaky sea salt now
4:12
you're going to see as they're sitting
4:14
here they're already starting to set up
4:16
so if you wanted to make them to eat
4:18
right away you could certainly eat them
4:20
right after you've dipped them and
4:22
they've set up for a minute or two on
4:23
the counter but what I like to do is pop
4:25
them back in the freezer give them
4:27
another 30 minutes or so to completely
4:29
freeze through and then I will transfer
4:31
them into an airtight container and pop
4:33
them back in the freezer where they will
4:35
happily last for up to two months but I
4:38
would be shocked if you actually had
4:39
them for that long cuz ours usually
4:41
don't last more than past a couple of
4:43
days because they are just that good now
4:45
you could eat these straight from the
4:47
freezer but what I love to do is take it
4:48
out let it sit on the counter for a
4:50
minute or two just so it softens a
4:51
little bit and it's not rock hard and
4:53
then you can take a bite into this
4:55
deliciously delightful dark
4:57
chocolatecovered raspberry chia drops i
5:00
