Okay, now we're going to talk about the dip switch or the dual inline package switch
0:06
The dip switch is basically a bunch of on-off switches in line with each other
0:12
All of these little white squares you see here are all each of them are individual switches
0:23
which controls inline. line, they're all numbered here. This one's numbered one to nine. It's on a package like
0:36
you would see like an IC circuit. I'll take it out here where it has all these terminals
0:47
here. I'll put it back in. Make sure I'll line it up here
0:57
Now you can see that I have my power supply here It a 9 volt battery I have the positive supply coming in to the positive rail of my breadboard And all of these resistors here One side of each resistor its leg is in the positive supply of the breadboard
1:20
And each individual resistor goes to an individual switch on the dip switch
1:31
So each one is in line with one of these switch. switches and each one of these switches has an LED in line with it so all of the
1:43
anodes of these LEDs are attached each each anode is attached to one of these switches
1:54
and then all of the cathodes of the LEDs are all attached to the negative power
2:01
supply and the negative power supply goes back to the battery so each switch
2:06
switch controls an individual LED in this case. If I turn number one on, LED number one
2:16
or this red LED comes on I can turn it off I can turn on number two which is this orange LED Number three uh oh number three number four number five which is this blue LED
2:39
number six is another red LED, number seven, another orange LED, Number 8 is another yellow LED and number nine is another green LED
2:56
So if I wanted to have just the reds on, in this case I'm going to turn on number one and number six
3:07
So both red LEDs are on. Let's say I wanted both green LEDs
3:13
So I need number four on and number nine on. nine on. So both green LEDs are on. And let's say only one of the blue LEDs on. That would just be number five in this case
3:33
And if I wanted to I can turn them all on All the switches on
3:42
Now all the LEDs are on. Okay, now I got low lighting on so it's a little easier to see the LEDs just for one more presentation
3:53
So I'm going to turn on number one and number six. six those are just the red LEDs I'll turn those off I'll turn on number three and
4:07
number eight those are just the yellow LEDs I'll turn those off I'll turn on
4:15
number two and number two and number seven those are the orange LEDs how about
4:27
number five that's the blue LED that's a bright LED and then again if I wanted to
4:37
I can turn all the switches on and I'll leave you blinded
