there are a few intriguing and some
0:12
fascinating things you did not know
0:14
about cell phone
0:16
towers first and foremost did you know
0:20
that cell phone towers are not always
0:23
towers
0:25
sometimes they are small pieces of
0:28
equipment placed on the top of a
0:31
building on a lamp
0:34
post sometimes they are disguised as
0:38
trees cactus
0:41
plants church stipples and the like you
0:44
probably drive past a number of cell
0:46
phone towers without realizing that they
0:49
are cell phone towers
0:51
secondly did you know that cell phone
0:56
towers beam electromagnetic waves at to
1:00
the speed of light yes it is why you are
1:03
able to hear the other person at the end
1:06
of the line in real time transmission is
1:09
super fast
1:12
it might also interest you to know that
1:15
cell phone towers hand over your calls
1:18
and your connections to one another like
1:20
in a relay race you know those races
1:23
where one person collects the baiton
1:26
from another and then runs and hands it
1:28
over to another so if you happen to be
1:32
walking running driving or you're
1:35
traveling in a bus or in any other land
1:39
vehicle you are meeting and leaving
1:43
behind multiple cell phone towers all
1:46
the time and what happens when you are
1:48
in motion like that is that one cell
1:50
phone tower is handing you over to the
1:53
next one and handing you over to the
1:55
next one which is why sometimes when
1:57
you're in motion your your your
2:00
telephone call connection is not as
2:02
stable as it is when you're standing
2:07
still it might interest you to know that
2:11
some cell phone towers are powered by
2:13
solar panels or by wind turbines yes not
2:19
all of them run on gas gasoline petrol
2:23
or diesel some are powered by solar
2:26
panels and some are powered by wind
2:31
turbines i mentioned earlier that cell
2:34
phone towers often are not all towers
2:37
yes but where they are towers most of
2:40
them are within the range of 50 to 200
2:44
ft tall but the highest or should I say
2:48
the tallest cell phone tower in the
2:50
world is over 2,000 ft high yes 2,000
2:58
ft tall that's the tallest cell phone
3:03
tower in the world fantastic right
3:06
did you know that 5G cell phone towers
3:10
have much shorter range than 4G and 3G
3:14
cell phone towers
3:16
the average 4G 3G cell phone tower has a
3:19
range of 20 to 35
3:23
miles
3:24
but 5G towers
3:27
often are in the range of a mile or
3:31
two maybe a little bit more depending on
3:34
location and the specifics but as a
3:39
rule five guitars have a much shorter
3:42
range so you need many more of them in a
3:46
specific area than you would need 4G and
3:50
3G
3:52
towers no matter the carrier or mobile
3:57
network operator that you belong to many
4:01
times this carriers share towers that
4:05
means each cell phone tower you see is
4:08
likely shared by multiple of carriers
4:12
you would have for example
4:15
AT&T and
4:17
T-Mobile using the same cell phone tower
4:21
in a particular location why do they do
4:23
this it is to lower the cost of
4:26
operation they are able to share the
4:28
cost of keeping it running and
4:31
maintaining that location
4:36
this ought to be obvious to everyone but
4:39
cell phone towers run
4:41
24/7 except for when something nasty
4:45
something terrible happens but cell
4:47
phone towers run 24/7
4:50
and it is for this reason that they
4:52
often have backup generators inverters
4:56
batteries so that should there be a
4:59
failure of public power supply
5:02
operations to your location are not
5:05
disrupted and
5:08
lastly most cell phone towers are
5:11
connected to one another through fiber
5:15
optic cables but where fiber optic
5:18
cables are not feasible practical or
5:21
reasonable cell phone towers often use
5:25
satellite links for back hall so in
5:30
other words where cables where it is
5:33
impractical or does not make business
5:34
sense to run cables to a cell phone
5:38
tower especially in rural areas in the
5:40
middle of nowhere such cell phone towers
5:43
will use a satellite connection to stay
5:46
connected to the network as a
5:50
whole these are things about cell phone
5:54
towers hopefully you did not know before
5:56
but now know i'll see you in my next
