How 'Opus' explores the intersection of fandom and fervor

There was just this description of like fervor and fandom

and you couldn't really tell what was what, sort of like, I think the chaos a bit was what appealed to me

It just, I think, feels very relevant. And it's something that I think I'm often thinking about

not just, like, as a person who makes art that's, like, consumed

but as, like, a person in our society. So, yeah, just like the nature, I think of, like

you know, people's like appetites for things and how it can kind of be in the same breath

like full of passion and love allegedly, but also kind of like violence

And so I think that was something where I was just like, whoa, what is this

I want to know more. What is it that you guys do? Would you like to see

The crowd is upset. I'm upset that I'm not upset. Is this not alarming to you

What I, uh, said in that, I think it's a time, it's a particular era right now

where it's very hard to ascertain what is actually happening. And uh I think this script is reflective of that and that what interested me And the possibility which has to be considered quite deeply

now that one just couldn't possibly have an idea of what actually is

going on. And I think a lot of people have given up

trying to figure it out too. When I read the script just in general I thought it was really

relevant and I felt like very connected to that kind of fandom parasocial relationship that I think we're experiencing

as a society. So I thought that his take on it was really interesting

And I think for me, the very last scene that I was in, and I don't want to spoil it, but that

just like, it blew my mind. I did not see it coming. And I just

thought it was so, so smart. And I just thought it was really, Mark Anthony did a great job

writing. It was independent movie. making. We had just had a historical strike of what seven months, A-24, and Mark Anthony, he's so

smart. And for me, I just wanted to go along with on the ride. And I'm always looking to play

something I've never done before. So this overconfident person who wears thigh-high boots

and his mildly insulting, I thought it could be fun to play
