A Guide to Caring for Spider Plants
Spider plants, also known as Chlorophytum comosum (fancy name, huh?), are some of the easiest and most forgiving houseplants to care for. They’re perfect for beginners, people with busy schedules, or those who tend to unintentionally murder plants (you know who you are). Let’s dive into how to keep these green beauties happy and thriving.
1. Light Requirements
Spider plants are the introverts of the plant world – they don’t want to be in the spotlight but still like to stay close to the action. They prefer bright, indirect sunlight, so keep them near a window but out of direct beams. Too much sunlight can scorch their leaves, leaving them looking sad and crispy (nobody likes a crispy spider plant).
If you’ve got a darker corner, no worries! Spider plants can tolerate low light too, though they might sulk a bit and grow slower. Think of it as them taking a chill day.
