This is the process for a physical therapist or occupational therapist that does NOT have a Medicare provider number (PTAN) for the local MAC. If the therapist does have a PTAN for the local MAC this process may be used or a shorter process is available. The first step in submitting an 855r reassignment of benefits using PECOS is to have the employer and employee connected in the Medicare I&A System. This video shows you how to initiate the connection both as a prospective employee and as a prospective employer.
