Thinking Like Missionaries in Our Own Backyard

Oct 15, 2025

Being Present in the Community John 1:14 reminds us that “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” This verse captures the heart of Jesus’ ministry — He didn’t stay distant or communicate from afar. He entered into human life, lived among people, and met them where they were. For the Church today, this means moving beyond buildings and programs to genuinely dwell among the community. Just as Jesus became present in both spirit and body, churches are called to engage personally, compassionately, and consistently with the neighborhoods around them. True mission work begins not with words, but with presence — showing love, care, and authenticity in everyday relationships. When the Church “moves into the neighborhood,” people see God’s love in action — not just in sermons, but in service, kindness, and connection.
