Dandelion Root Coffee Recipe
Introduction:
Dandelion root coffee is a rich, earthy, and caffeine-free alternative to traditional coffee. It's made from roasted dandelion roots, which offer a robust flavor similar to coffee, but with added health benefits like detoxification and improved digestion. This recipe focuses on minimal ingredients to keep the preparation simple and accessible.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons dried dandelion root (chopped)
2 cups of water
Optional: a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor
Sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, or sugar) – optional
Plant-based or dairy milk – optional
Preparation:
Roast the Dandelion Roots:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the chopped dandelion root on a baking sheet in an even layer.
Roast for 20 to 30 minutes until they are dark brown and aromatic, stirring halfway through to ensure even roasting.
Brew the Coffee:
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
Add the roasted dandelion root to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
