business um this is a um something that uh um I've been I

really am excited about this uh one of the things that I know I wanted to do this year is I wanted to get into more

teaching um and so that's what we're doing uh with the series on Romans we're

going to preach our way all the way through Romans I don't know how long it's going to take it may take a year it may take two I don't know how long it

takes but um every uh uh third Second Sunday third Sunday Second Sunday every

second Sunday we're going to be in the Book of Romans until we exhausted and today is the introduction so I'm really

really really really excited about uh what we're going to be doing here and I'll see you over in the the chat I got my brother Walsh appreciate you man

awesome I'm so glad that that this is able to to reach you sister Deborah I

appreciate you so um uh yes so I wanted to um um like I

was saying before I'm really excited about this series because um it gives me

an opportunity to do something that I don't see a lot of um in um out in

social media spaces not like that that nobody's doing it but I just feel like there's a need um more of a need of this

in the social media sphere and that is teaching actually teaching the word of

God and so uh that's what we're going to be doing here we're going to go line upon line precept upon precept the real

line upon line precept upon precept not the Hebrew Israelite way of doing that

because this is actually really going to be line upon line precept upon precept

okay so they like to say here there here a little and there a little that to to

to give them a prescription to go all over the place and that's not necessary

with scripture but anyway we're going to be parked right here and we're going to dig deep deep deep

into uh the book of Romans because I I think this is one of the most prolific

books in the Bible in all of the Bible right here at uh uh in the Book of

Romans and so I wanted to just use this first this first broadcast just to lay

the foundation and I may get into um uh some of the start talking about some of

the first chapter but I want to give you guys uh background it's important anytime you're studying books and this

is another thing I'm going to be telling you guys if you're listening and you're a student of the word of God when you're

reading the Bible just jumping into the Bible and just reading

scriptures is is not a way to go because whatever book you're reading in there is

all kinds of stuff going on there is a background there are characters there are themes there are there's there's

there are doctrines there's all kinds of stuff going on and if you're going into a c hold you're not fully understanding

the word of God which is why you got to take time to break things down and

that's one of the reasons why I wanted to do this the way that I'm doing it to

show you that there's actually way to do it and actually when you get ready to read your Bible um this is the way you

should do it this is the way you should do things you should get a study

Bible Study Bible a stud Study Bible a study Bible gives you a whole background

of everything you're getting ready to read in the book you're getting ready to read you follow what I'm saying so uh

before you start reading the book you understand what needs to be understood

about the book you're about to read okay you're not going in cold okay

you're understanding what the word of God is teaching in the book you're about to read so that's basically what we're

going to do tonight tonight it this afternoon evening wherever you are um is

we're going to be going through the background now I'm going to be reading from several sources and I may even

Avail myself of um let's see if I can do it here let's see if I can do it here

see if we can make this work I got a new little goodie that I'm gonna be using from time

to time um um and I call it the context

side a camera over here on the side where I can open up a book and read

it to you and you can go along with me a physical book in my hand Reginal Wells

what's up my brother appreciate you uh emerging Ministries AKA cross media

what's up my brother go if you're not following Reginal Wells also follow my brother uh Reginal Wells who just came

in the house appreciate you brother um but I I want you to be able to to to go along with me sometimes when I open up a

book or I may do a review of a book or something like that so I have this

little cam over here on the side if you let me put this out here so you guys can see it uh and right now I have my

ancient Christian uh commentary on scripture which we're going to be using in this series um and so it just gives

us another way for you to actually see because one of the things that I think is important is that you see the sources

that I see okay and and then I'm just giving you guys a little tidbit when

ever somebody's talking about the Bible um is particularly if they're talking about do Doctrine or something make them

produce sources from where they came up with that with their their teaching don't they it doesn't it's not true just

because they said it okay make them produce uh a source make them produce a source you

know what I mean so and then make your judgment based on that you know what I mean it just it's just safe to do that

so we're going to be using the um the context cam you know what I'm saying from time to time we're going to use it

some definitely through this series because I'll pick up something and I want you to see actually what I saw what

I'm reading what I'm seeing so then that's when we will make Avail uh of the

the context cam so I just want you guys to know that uh uh to show that to you

that's so that's so cool because I mean like literally like I'll be able to go

into a book just like that and then you'll see

it and you can I mean I'll be able to point where I'm

going and read along you guys will be able to read along so we're going to be doing doing some of that um in this

series but like I said today we're just start we're just starting out and um and

laying the foundation for for what we're going to be doing in the future so um so

with that um Book of Romans and I'm going to be reading from

a couple of different sources um uh a couple of different sources and I always

show you the sources so that you can follow up um if you have the sources or these sources that I'm using I would

definitely recommend that you get them in your hands too because one of the things we have to do brothers and

sisters is we have to make use of men

and women that have devoted their life to studying the word of God it is one of the one of the smartest

things that we can do as Christians okay so

um I am about to read some background from on the book of

Romans from the baker Illustrated Bible background

commentary edited by J Scott Duval and

Jay Daniel Hayes now let me show this to you guys so you can see what it looks

like that's one we're reading out of right now I don't have it set up for the context cam yet but maybe next time we

will um so so let's do the introduction let's

read the introduction here okay Book of Romans it says here it says introduction

it says no modern scholar questions that Paul was the author of

Romans somebody around you talking about Paul's didn't Paul didn't write Romans tell them to kick rocks okay

straight up moreover many interpreters believe that the key to Paul's theology

is the overlap overlapping of the two ages the age to come has already dawned

with the first coming of Christ but it will not be complete until

the second coming of Christ okay such theology shows up in

Romans okay the vast majority of scholars believe that Paul wrote Romans

between ad55 and 58 okay look uh let's see it says from the

city of Corinth on his third missionary journey so he's in Corinth but he's

writing to the Romans okay remember he did three missionary Journeys this is his third

missionary journey in which he's writing to the Romans right okay it says it is

it is clear from Romans itself that the recipients and listen to this very good because you're going to hear this as

we're going through this introduction you're going to hear this phrase several times because it needs to be made this

is a a point that needs to be made over and over again okay it is clear from

Romans itself that the recipients of the letter are both Jewish and Gentile

Christians from both groups are addressed throughout the

document okay um I'm going to say that again okay it is clear from Romans

itself that the recipients of the letter are both Jewish and Gentile

Christians Jewish and Gentile Christians because we got some people out there

saying is to the to the is to the church in Romans they were Israelites

no Jew and Gentile okay anyway um we

find this evidence in the first chapter the second chapter the third chapter the ninth chapter the 14th chapter and the

15th chapter verifies what I just told y'all okay we going to go going through

the whole book we going we're going to run up on these passages that it's talking about most likely the churches

at Rome were founded by Roman Jews who were converted to Christianity in

Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost remember acts two when the spirit of God fell on all

those people and Peter got up and preached okay those were

Jews and there and it was there that they believe the church was

established by Jew by Roman Jews okay okay so it says who returned then home

to the synagogue let's see yeah returned in

home to the synagogues in Rome with their freshly found faith in Jesus the

Messiah it is also very likely scenario that those Jewish Christians led to

Christ the Gentile god-fearers listen very closely the

Gentile god-fearers who who came to believe in the one true God of

Israel now through this whole thing you're going to hear the book of Romans

Haren back to God's promise in the Old Testament of Jew and Gentile being

saved You're Going to Hear It Anyway let's see let me continue to

read it says um one the one true God of of Israel but did not submit to

circumcision or the whole law of Moses what you mean the Gentiles didn't

submit to the law of Moses the whole law of Moses or circumcision the answer is

no the answer is no and um I see uh bill for Speed appreciate you bro thank you

that we need to get this out okay but but anyway did you hear what it said I'm going to read this line again it said

say the uh it is very also very likely

scenario that those Jewish Christians those Jewish

Christians uh those Jewish Christians led to Christ

the Gentile godf farers who worshiped in their synagogues see there was already

Gentiles worshiping with the Jews in the

synagogues my God anyway it says who came to believe in the one true God of

Israel but did not submit to circumcision or the whole law of Moses

remember acts 15 this came up already the very first

church Council was in Acts 15 and it was about Jewish Christians do they have to

keep the law do they have to get circumcised what they come up with no

all they got to do is stay away from sexual sin stay away from meats that got blood in them and keep their self

clean and they're good this is the word of God that says this anyway somewhere between ad30 and

ad55 Christianity became established in Rome probably meeting meting as many as

five houses meeting in as many as five houses and ten tenement churches

according to uh 16 uh chapter 16 verse 5

um 10 11 14 and 15 and with an attendance of perhaps a

500 let's see a 500 let

see a 500 um uh house and could accommodate 50 people for worship I

don't understand that I don't know what is this what is the meaning of this perhaps a

500 oh oh size house but could accommodate 50 people for worship okay I

don't understand

that oh perhaps a few hundred okay I'm sorry I'm reading reading it wrong perhaps a few

hundred okay and as many as 50 people for worship okay so one could see from

this how the Roman Believers could have been polarized into weak possibly Jewish

Christians and strong possibly Gentile Christians factions C Chapter 14 verse 1

through 15 verse verse 14 15 so that's telling you that um the the Jewish

Christians were considered the strong Christians while the Gentile Christians were considered the weak

Christians that's what that's saying right it says since they met in

various places moreover most Scholars today think that the Gentile Christian

element in the house churches became dominant when Jews Jewish Christians

included were expelled from Rome in ad. 49

so Jewish Christians get kicked out of Rome okay that's what that's telling you

by Emperor um Claudius Emperor Carly Claudius comes in get rid of them Christians kick him out kick kick out

the Jewish Christians right uh so ton is an early second 2 Century Roman

historian and that the Roman Emperor expelled Jews from Rome at the time

because they were squabbling over a man named uh chis

Christus chrestus chesus that's a weird name probably a Corruption of the Greek

kristos so they they're saying man they fighting over this Christian dude man let's get them out of here right cuz why

you had Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians the Jews thought they was the all that and the Gentiles was like we

just hey we just here for the ride there was a problem there was a Schism

so they kick him out it says no doubt Christus probably wa hold on is no doubt

satus was referring to the debate between Jewish Christians and non-christians over whether Jesus was

the Christ since Rome did not dis did not distinguish between Jewish

Christians and non-christians considered all them Jews plaus kicked out the whole

lot of them but after claudius's death in ad. 54 Jews were allowed to return to

Rome says at that time Jewish Christians came home CA came home to house or tenament

churches now dominated by Gentile Christians making it a tense

relationship between the two groups so they come back they don't have a temple to go to because they got kicked out so

now if you're going to a Christian Church you got to go to these house churches and the Jews were like man we

we used to having a temple bro y'all up in the house what's going on with this

okay says although there continues to be much debate as to why Paul pinned his

magnificent letter to the Romans the Apostle himself leaves the reader in no

doubt as to its purpose Paul was divinely called to lead the way

in bringing about an the end time conversion of the Nations okay remember in chapter nine of

Acts we clearly see that Paul is called to the Gentile

Nation the Gentile Nations he's the Apostle to the Gentile

Nations that's his calling okay let's see uh a mission in which the

church at Rome was to play a critical role thus Rome was to be the the last

major stopping point before the Apostle launched the final leg of his mission to

Spain okay so he was going to stop there on his way to on his way to Spain that was his plan the end of the of the known

world but to Garner the support of the Christians in Rome the capital city of

the Roman Empire Paul had to to establish two uh accomplish two tasks

first he had to motivate the Gentile Jew I mean Jewish and Gentile Christians in

Rome to start getting along again otherwise the church would not be

unified enough to support him financially and spiritually in his Spanish

mission second even before that Paul had to convince the Roman Christians that he

was a legitimate Apostle and therefore worthy of their support okay so that's

one source now what you need to understand about these

commentaries is there's several there are teams of Scholars that work on

these team of teams of Scholars teams of Scholars so during

this time we're going to we're going to consult with several teams of Scholars

because I want you to I I don't want to just use one source okay because that

that's very easily corruptible it's a lot less corruptible when you talking about

Scholars from different vast areas with and from different comment commentaries

to agree on the same things am I making sense I hope I'm making sense okay so

what I'm going to do is we're going to go into remember this is the this is the this is the foundation guys this is the

foundation of everything we're going to do we're going to get into the book actually of Romans but we're laying a

foundation right now so we're going to go into the next commentary to read some

stuff The Moody Bible commentary now if

you know anything about Bible scholarship you need to know about the Moody Institute okay one of the most

solid Biblical institutions ever ever created okay and

that's all that's all I got to say um trustworthy solid deep biblical

understanding comes from the the the the scholars at money Institute always has

always has been a Rock Solid Source for all things biblical so when we go

into let's see here when we go into this this commentary so I'm going to read it right

over the other one and we're going to make some comparisons as to what the Moody uh the guys over at Moody say

about the book of Romans as opposed to our guys over at the Baker at the the

baker Bible Institute okay and you guys can be a judge for yourself

we covering all the bases guys we covering all the bases we are covering all the bases y'all make sure y'all hit

the share button man y'all hit the share button to just get this out there and then and then we're going to spend some

time over in my ancient Christian commentary of scripture and we get to hear from some of the church fathers

origin tertullian eth natian all those guys what did they have to say about the book of Romans because they had it also

anyway so let's see introduction author these are Scholars who who deny let's

see there are Scholars that that who deny that the Apostle Paul wrote all the letters ascribed to him I don't know how

I don't know how you do that but it says virtually no one disputes that Romans

was his letter saying virtually the same thing that the guys at Baker said okay

Pauline authorship of Romans has been affirmed by even the most critical

Scholars of the last 200 years so can can we can we consider that

a wrap I could come up with some more stuff some more sources to verify that

Paul wrote Romans okay let let's just let's let's just not play with it Paul wrote Romans okay okay date um according

to um r rm15

uh Paul's travel plans included three places Jerusalem Rome and

Spain okay Paul explicitly mentioned his intent to go to Jerusalem to deposit the

proceeds from the offering gathered by the Gentile churches in the Mediterranean World

verification that what there's Gentiles there Gentile Christians that's the and

we read that over there already okay uh let's see then go to Rome and then to

Spain okay the the acts P passages are found

in the context of Paul's third missionary journey he was probably in Greece when he wrote

Romans more than likely Corinth which has been

his base previously and we just talked about that he was in Corinth when he wrote Romans right okay

uh Paul commends several who lived in or around Corinth such as Phoebe who lived

in Centuria about 7even miles Southeast of Corinth and G gas these points

suggest a Corinthian or or um I'm sorry

or it should just say origin but this is origination of the letter it is

intriguing to think of Paul walking through Corinth observing the immorality

there then then then writing about the decadence of the world in Romans 1

through the business quarter of the cor of of Corinth where the the famous

Corinth uh Corinthian Pottery was made and writing about the Potter and the

clay Romans 9 a good estimate for the date of the book ad57 so virtually

agreeing with was already say Okay um

let's see recipients recipients who did this go to

who did this letter go to what's up my brother uh um servant of

Christ appreciate you Michelle Lewis appreciate you thank you for joining appreciate y'all thank y'all so much Who

was the recipient of the letter of the letter in Romans Paul wrote the letter

to the Christians in Rome okay Christians in Rome Watch what it

says the population of the city in Paul's day is estimated to between 1 and

4 million 1 and four million that's the

estimate of of of the Roman Empire at that time the imprecision is due in part to

the large number of slaves in the city who were not included in the sentences

possibly as much as 60% of the population was slaves wow which is why

anything addressing slaves is was highly important okay so

um when Paul begins with the words Paul a bond servant of Christ Jesus he would

have established rapport immediately with a good number in the church who were surely slaves that's why you see

this when he's approaching them because he wants to connect with them because they understand

servanthood does that make sense okay says um the Jewish community in

Rome may have been as large as 40,000 influential in the economy and perhaps

the politics and the Arts of the great City okay now it says those to who PA

wrote Paul wrote were Believers already Believers already they was

already Believers okay let's let's make that clear what no that this was these people

were already Believers when he wrote this okay which means they had to have had some kind of establishment already

right okay it says although also although in the early chapters Paul

explained the plight of humankind apart from Christ he was probably not

emphasizing those points to evangelize his readers rather he wrote to those who

were the called of Jesus Christ who are beloved of God in Rome called as

Saints see he called them saints that lets you know they were already

saved past tense you're saved already it says and in his words were intended to

influence True Believers there okay it says there is a debate over whether Paul

wrote primarily to Gentile Believers Jewish Believers or to both in some

places he clearly addressed Gentiles in the church okay I'm going say that again in

some places he clearly addressed Gentiles in the church question were

there Gentile chrisan in the Church of Rome answer absolutely where do we find

those answers we find them in the first chapter verse 5 and 6 11th chapter 13th

verse 15th chapter 7th through 9th verse uh 14th chapter uh 21st

verse we find that that there's Gentiles in the Roman Church okay in others

Jewish Believers 2 chapter 17th verse fourth chapter 1 verse 6th chapter 14th

to 15th verse 7th chapter first verse it says and see the je Jewish names in the

list in 163 and 7 and chapter 11 the most plausible view is that Paul

wrote to both and on occasion specifically addressed one group then

the other so let's make this clear Paul is writing to Jew and Gentile Christians

in the Church of Rome therefore the Church of Rome had Jew and Gentile

Christians according to the scholars and according to the book that we getting ready to get

into I just want to be clear because we got people out here teaching all kinds of weird stuff okay I just want to be

clear okay okay so what was the

purpose what was the purpose of his him writing to Rome to the to the Church of

Rome cuz we need to know that right because listen I've heard people say this guys I've heard people say this I

have heard people say that we shouldn't quote unquote Christians Bible Believers

we shouldn't really give the books any High Credence because these are just letters Guys

these are just letters yeah these are just letters that he was sending to them there no big deal

there's really no doctrinal things that you need to pay attention to these are just letters we got people out here

saying this okay this is one of the reason why I'm taking this time up front before we just

jump into it because we we we we strip everything away we strip all the the the um the the

um what do I want to what I want the subjectiveness away when we go through the intro like this okay we strip it all

away we know exactly what it was for who was written to all that type of stuff so it's his purpose Paul does not say

explicitly why he wrote Romans but there are hints serving as bookends for his

epistle are almost identical verses the beginning of the is basically G and it

gives chapter 1 verse5 and chapter 16 ver 26 that's the being beginning in the end where Paul says as a as Apostolic

commission and the gospel exist to bring about The Obedience of Faith among all

the Gentiles this is part of his

purpose to bring about The Obedience of Faith among all the

Gentiles this book ending suggest that Paul's purpose was to provide a warrant

for his mission to Spain and for the Roman Christians to support him in

addition he desired to minister to them and with

them okay and for and to solicit support from them but the closest we have to a

purpose statement for the epistle is in 15 uh 15 uh through 16 now let's go

ahead and pull that up because we want to see we want to take a look at his purpose we want to see it we want to see

it we want to see it you guys know me I I don't like I don't like guessing or nothing I if I can show it to you in

black and white I'm going to do that so let's go to just's go to that exact place 15 and 16 uh uh verse 15 chapter

15 verse 15- 16 let's go ahead and pull that up let's see

yeah okay okay so as you can see

here it says but on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of of

Remember by way of reminder because of the grace given me

by who God to be a minister of Christ

Jesus to the Gentiles in the Priestly service of the

Gospel of God so that the offering of the Gentiles may be

acceptable Sanctified by the Holy

Spirit that's Clarity guys that's Clarity to be a minister of

Christ Jesus to the Gentiles you got people up in there saying that that that

that that salvation is only for Israel Paul clearly

says I'm writing this because of the grace given me to be

a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles and to the Priestly service of

the Gospel of God so that the offering to the Gentiles may be

acceptable okay Sanctified by the Holy

Spirit how much Clarity do we need guys how much Clarity do we

need how much Clarity do we need is this not clearly

stating one of his purposes that that's that's what I'm

saying let me let me go ahead and get back let me get back to to what um we are on purpose we're on purpose of the

book we're on purpose of the to the book okay uh oh okay the closest we have

to per okay I already read that okay says where Paul writes

that that his intent was to remind them of some truths this reminder came with

the backing of his own Apostolic commission which is in

15:15 okay um where where he notes what was a commission to evangelize primarily

the Gentiles and we just read that the the Apostle then presented his itinerary

which included a visit to Rome to seek their financial assistance to execute

the commission to Spain he wanted to take the gospel to Spain so he had to stop by and and this is how they he did

he he funded his missions he told him look I'm doing the work of God just like like I did the work of God unto you I'm

going to take the the work of God over here can you guys help me financially I'm going to be there at this time um

hopefully I'll be able to be a blessing to you and you can give me some money and send me on my way to do more

ministry that's basically the breakdown of Paul's missionary Journeys and part of his letters right

there let's see uh let's see who is this um who who is Facebook user I I restream

won't let me see it I don't know so put your name on there he says let's let's let's put this up let's put this up it

says good evening my brother raw and pure uncut word you're teaching destroying all false teachings that's

and that's that's what we got to do man we got to do we got we got to just we got to presentent this raw word man this

is what I'm this is where I'm at this is where I'm at I'm still I'm through playing games I'm through playing games

we gonna get down to the matters of the word period so it can't be twisted it

can't be contorted it can't be fzed period so so thank you for that I I

appreciate that so so anyway so he he's sicking there Financial he's on trying

to go to Spain he says look you guys need to help your brother I'm going to Spain to do some evangelizing can y'all

help me financially paper Chaser okay okay what's up my brother I appreciate you man thank you for stopping in my

brother appreciate you thank you man so so he says so Paul's purpose may have

been to help the church clarify her Doctrine and instill in her a new sense

of urgency about the need for evangelizing the Lost okay this would

motivate the church in Rome to provide support for Paul's Outreach to Spain how

do the diverse elements of the epistle fit with this overlapping purpose

chapters 1 through3 present Humanity's desperate need for the gospel and this

is this is all going to play out as as we go through these chapters and stuff guys each one has sinned and stands

under the condemnation of God as a result of it we're all Sinners that's

what that's what that means that means we're all Sinners guys and no one can change his status through his own

efforts huge you're not going to do something that's going to make God say huh I think

I like him I think I think he did something different I I'm rolling with this one right here no no you cannot

obtain s salvation of your own efforts okay and we're going to find

that out as we go through this book anyway let's see

uh okay and no one can okay okay thankfully there is hope it is grounded

in God's provision of his own righteousness given freely to those who

trust in in the atoning death of his

son those who trust in the atoning death of his

son not how much you read the Bible not how much you go to church not if you

keep the feast days not if you keeping the law none of that trust in the

atoning death of his son Jesus Christ says it right here according to the

scholars and it's in this book okay the patriarch Abraham

illustrates the nature and importance of faith in that he was saved by faith and

not by works that's in the fourth chapter Abraham remember no law existed

when Abraham was called there was no law there were no

feast days there was there was nothing to keep when God called

him God called him and did asked him to do something and based on his faith in

God the Bible says that he's Justified we're going to break this all

down as we go on throughout this journey in Romans okay chapters 5-8 present the

extraordinary results of being right with God results that the non-Christian

world needs and that the Christian World should

broadcast did you guys hear that the non-Christian church needs and

the Christian church should broadcast meaning we need to be telling people

about this you understand what I'm

where is it okay chapters 9- 11 deal with the

problem of Israel one might argue that if God made

promises to Israel in the Old Testament and broke them by focusing his plans on

the church then how could he be he be counted on to fulfill his promises in

Christ good question right if God could not be counted on to keep those promises

why bother to evangelize Paul argues that God was keeping his promises to Israel just as

he always had and that he could be trusted to keep them in Christ as well

in chapters 12- 16 the main theme is that that of the church

Unity a church gutted by Strife with ought be ill suited to sustain a

missionary Venture for very long Paul's goal for the

unity is is that they may they might glorify God spread his name and enhance

his reputation as he prays to the at to to the end as he prays to that

end it is it's interesting when when we talk about uh

um chapters 9 through 11 where it talks about Israel when you when we get to those

chapters and that's going to be a ways off guys because we're going to be here for a long time but I want you guys to be locked in every every third every

second uh uh Sunday on these Romans guys I'm telling you you want to be locked in on this um it's interesting because the

Hebrew Israelites spend an awful lot of time in chapter nine but but they won't go

to the to the to the last part of nine and they won't go into 10 and they won't go into 11 and it's all the same

issue that's why context is so important and guess what we're going to go through

salvation is partaking in righteousness of father son and spirit what I thought

and well that the Bible teaches that salvation is in Jesus Christ and him

of at the beginning of Romans we're going to read and the way we're going to lay this out guys is we're going to do

the scholars to give their their uh commentary on those

sections does that make sense okay so I mean for instance we got the right here

we have the first seven verses is nothing but the greeting can this is what I love about logos logos guys um

is he says what he set apart for the gospel of God it says which he promised

beforehand through the prophets in the Holy scriptures what did he promise

before the uh beforehand in in the in the Holy scriptures the gospel of God

see people think that the gospel just showed up with Matthew Mark Luke and

John that that's not the gospel okay the Matthew Mark Luke and John is the hist

historical account of the Gospel who is Jesus Christ because what is the gospel

the gospel is good news what is the good news the good news is Jesus Christ has

come to save us from our sins that that's in a in in in a

breakdown that's it guys Jesus is the

gospel I don't know howse with that it says um let's see would you promise

beforeand uh through His prophets in the Holy scriptures concerning his son who was descendant from David according to

the flesh anytime you see according to the flesh that's talking about um that's

talking about Generations that's talking about uh uh ancestry okay this this

verifies that Jesus was the one who was Pro prophesied of in the Old

Testament that's what that's what Paul is doing here okay David according to

descended from David according to the Flesh and was declared to be the Son of

God in power according to the spirit of Holiness by his resurrection from the

dead Christ Resurrection from the dead is the verification that he was from God

little more breakdown this is what I would do I would click on the word Gentile which mean I mean Nations which

means ni Gentile I click on it it gives me a breakaway of all the scriptures

that has this

word this Greek word look at all the Greek words where it says

Gentiles ridiculous ridiculous okay and this is one of the reasons why me personally why

I prefer logos um whenever I'm doing my Bible study online because of things like this

you see what I'm saying I I I just feel like the I just feel like the Blue Letter Bible is

fallible it's still fallible it it to me it's an old version of logos it's an

ineffective version of logos that that's the way I feel just just like just like

the strong concordance I'm I'm I love the strongs it's outdated the King James

version of the Bible it's outdated it's I I mean these are all tools that are

outdated I I'm just am I making sense to anybody I'm just and I'm just giving y'all my personal view right now that's

all I'm saying I'm I'm just saying I'm just giving you my personal view right now if you want to up your gang you guys

need logos if you want to up your Bible study you need logos that's all is to it I'm not saying get rid of anything else

I'm just saying when you when it's really time when you really really want to know when you really want to

Gentiles right it says verse seven says to all those in Rome who are loved by

God and called to be Saints grace to you and peace from our Lord and father and

the Lord Jesus Christ what is he saying those in Rome we do we know because the

scholars have already buried it out and we're going to see it further in scripture here that there were both

Jewish and Gentile Christians in Rome therefore when the Bible calls them

saints is calling uh Jewish uh Christian Saints and is calling Gentile Christians

Saints is that clear because why how do we know how you know that Jim it says to all those in

Rome who are loved by God and called to be Saints called to be Saints if you're

in the Church of Rome you are one loved by God you are to called to be

Saints this is not me I that's what the word says that's what the word

says I I just you know let's see let's see um oh oh good point good point Jesse

Jesse brings up a good point here in and and this is this is my my uh my view too

this says blue letter is outdated because of the strongs is is based off the um the TR just found that out TR

what do you mean by TR um logos is by far Superior yeah um TR what's that what

is that Jesse tell me what TR means but but yeah Blue Blue Letter Bible is based

off of strongs and just to let you know strongs is great for the King James

version but again again the King James version is not the

only version of the Bible available and not the only accurate in fact I could

make the point that there's a lot of inaccurate stuff in the King James why it's 17th century

stuff okay it's 17th century good for the time good for the

200 years good for some stuff now but if I want to be a complete Bible scholar I

need to be able to look at earlier manuscripts which is what the new ma the

new uh um uh um translations are built on so I can really see what God is

saying in the word of God but anyway so let me let me get back over here so um verse 8 verse eight of Romans 1 first I

thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because your faith is

proclaimed in all the world the faith of who the Church of

Rome verse nine for God is my witness whom I serve with my spirit in the

gospel of his son the gospel of his son I serve with my spirit in the gospel of

his son that without ceasing to I mention you always in my prayers asking

that somehow by God's will I may know at least succeed I'm sorry I may now at

least succeed in coming to you he he's letting them know look I want to I really want to come to you I'm praying

that I'll be able to come to you guys know what I'm saying he says uh uh verse 11 for I long to see you that I may

impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you verse 12 that is that we

may be mutually encouraged by each other's Faith both yours and mine 13 I

do not want you to be unaware brothers that I have often intended to come to

you but thus far have been prevented in order that I may reap some Harvest among

you that as well as among the rest of the

Gentiles there's that word again there's that word again

Gentile you can't avoid this word guys you can't avoid this word in the

you can't avoid this word in the New Testament man it's not it's it's impossible

and you can't avoid the fact that the gospel was to the Gentiles as well as

Jews can't be saved of course they're going to be saved they of course they are the chosen of God of course they

have a a special place in God's heart but that is not to the exclusion of

everybody else Gentiles can be

saved look at verse 14 I am under obligation to both Greeks

and to barbarians both to the wise and to the foolish so I am eager to preach

the gospel to you and also who are in Rome translation a Greek is not a Jew a

barbarian is not a Jew those are G are are Gentile Expressions let me click on

word Greek here means Helen okay and you see it it says Gentile non Jew

Greek it says non-jew Greek guys can y'all see that

are all words that mean Barbarian so when it's talking about

Barbarian it's not talking about

people look look look study your Bible man study your Bible don't just let

somebody tell you what the Bible says you pick up the Bible and you study it for yourself to see what it says for

that's opening up the Bible and giving you what they want to give you you need to be digging into the scripts for

yourself when y'all start digging you're going to find the truth it's

inevitable is inevitable you are going to find the to truth if you dig to find

it and and I truly believe in my heart of hearts that there's people out here in Cults like the Hebrew Israelites and

the Hebrew roots that really want to know the truth my prayer is for

you my prayer is that you get in this word my prayers that you seek God and

ask him to reveal it to you what is the truth of the Gospel of Jesus

Christ that's where my prayer is but anyway so let's let's go back to let's go to back so we're at the 16th verse

we're at the 16th verse right here we're at the 16th verse right

here okay so listen it says for I am not

ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for

salvation to who everyone who believes to the Jew first and also to

the Greek remember we've already showed you that the word Greek here means

non-jew but it's to the Jew first why because the Jew is the line from from

which came the Savior the Jew is the line from which

God chose to bring his savior the Jew was the line to represent God and be his

representative on Earth which they failed by the way I I just want to put that out there

um they failed in their representation of God because ultimately the children of Israel in the

Old Testament fell back into um into uh um worshiping uh idols and false

gods but through his son Jesus Christ everything is made right right okay so

so to the Jew first and also to the Greek verse 17 for it is in the

righteousness of God is revealed from Faith from faith for

wait from faith for Faith as it is written the righteous shall live by the

law no the righteous should live by the feast days no the righteous shall live

by the new moon no the righteous shall live

by faith faith and this is a word you we're

going to see in this as we go through this this guys that word faith is going

to loom very large okay this word faith

this is what I'm going to do I'm going to we're going to going to read this off we're going to take this next section which says uh God's Wrath on

unrighteousness it's very important okay so starting with the 18th verse we're

still in the first chapter guys remember this is the foundation this the foundation of everything we're going to do going forward defining terms uh

looking up keywords all that stuff we're going to continue to do that through this whole thing but Verse 18 says for

the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness not just the ungodliness of the Jews not

just the ungodliness of Israel but on all unrighteousness ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who by their

unrighteousness suppress the truth now we got a lot of a lot of suppressors out

here guys we deal with them all the time we have conversations with them we we break bread with them we open the word

we do breakdowns with them we have conversations with them and we make it clear and what do they do do they accept

the pro no they suppress the truth you're unrighteous the Bible says it right

here in your unrighteousness you suppress the truth if someone's giving you the truth and you got your hand up

you're suppressing the truth and in effect you're suppressing God because God in his sovereignty has allowed

someone put someone in your path to share the true gospel with you but you

because your pride has has made you a victim you cannot accept the truth and

you will not accept accept the truth okay it says verse 19 for what can

be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them listen

some of y'all some of you guys know the truth God is making the truth clear and you got your hands over your ears L la

la la la I'm not listening to him I'm not la la la la la I don't want to hear

what he's teaching no la la la that's not what uh brother such and such uh is

teaching la la la you you're blocking you're you're trying to block God out right now and God is making it plain to

you okay okay so verse 20 verse 20 says for his invisible

attributes namely his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly

perceived e ever since the creation of the world in the things that have been made so

that there is no excuse now particularly specifically I believe that this is to

the to the atheist to the person who does not believe in God at all that's

what I think this particular line of scripture is for you know you all you have to do is

look at the magnificence of creation okay all you have to do is look at the

complexity of the human body all you have to do is look at uh the complexity

of how we breathe out air and breathe in uh or carbon monoxide or however that

whole process we breathe in air and out carbon monoxide it it's it's all these

little things like this should let you know that there is a God you don't have an excuse that's what this is saying

verse 20 verse 21 says for although they knew God they did not honor him as God

or give thanks to him but they became feudal in their thinking and their F

foolish Hearts darkened listen we got some people out here that got so much

pride that this is what happens to them they become feudal in their thinking and their heart becomes dark

that's what happens when you after a certain point of you refusing the truth

God call you it it says it's it's another part of scripture that says uh that he turned them over to a reprobate

mind in other words God God kind of gave up on you he he allowed you to be a

victim of your own thinking okay you want to do that okay this is what happens

guys this is what happens 20 verse 22 says claiming to be wise they became

fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal mortal God for images resembling mortal men and birds and

animals and creeping things these are people that um have replaced God the

real true God with other things okay it says resembling mortal men we got some

people who worship man okay we got some people who who think that that God came

in this man or this woman it's happening right now we get Tick Tock we got Tick

Tock uh uh uh jesuses ticktock

Messiahs people people are worshiping those people like they're

God Birds animals creeping things people are making everything to be God except

God that's what Paul is talking to the audience where he's and and see these

things are you got to relate remember he's talking to the Romans the Romans the Romans were were a um it was one of

the immoral empires in the world them and the Corinthians were the two top areas where they had lots of idol

worship and sexual perversion and um all that kind of stuff idolatry was big all that so this

is why he's writing to them okay so um let's see

um okay so verse verse 4 says there say therefore God gave them up in the lust

of their heart to impurity God just gave them up okay go ahead and do that to the

dishonoring of their bodies among themselves now listen to this very very

close because they exchange the truth of God for a lie and they worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator who

is blessed forever amen see whenever the focus is about you

you in trouble whenever the focus is about

someone else or something else you in trouble this is why I always say just for just for an example like worship

music right worship music today's worship music and a lot of churches

honestly they're not worshiping God they're talking about other stuff

they're talking about me me me and they're talking about I got this blessing coming and I can this that it's

not about God it's about someone or something else so this is a good lesson guys if if who

you if if the if the um the belief system that you're in is putting

emphasis on anything other than God and who God is this that's that's

trouble that that should be a a a red flag for you if all we talking talking

about is anything other than God period if the doctrine is about what we

doing and how good we supposed to be and and what we got

coming and all that stuff what we need to do what me me me me me I I I us us if

you're in a belief system that is focused on that you're in a false SYM

you're in a false system that's a that's a

falsehood if you're not if it's not focusing on God the Creator it's not the

right system I don't know how much I don't know how much pler I need to be you see

what I'm saying so verse 26 verse 26 says says this for this reason God gave

them up to dis dishonorable passions now this is specifically aimed at something

that would be going on and it applies today too but it was something was specifically going on in the Roman

Church obviously because that's who he's writing to he says for this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions

for women exchange natural relations for those that are contrary to Nature what does that mean guys that means women

sleeping with women verse 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with

with women and were consumed with passion for one each other one another men committing Shameless acts with men

and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their

error it's right there in the word of God look look guys that's

untwist that's clear that's clear you you can't get around

that uh this it that's as clear as a a

Bible verse that I know dealing with samex relationships I don't I don't know what

else to say anyway I'm going to I'm just going to continue on I'm going to continue on verse 28 says and since they

did not fit to acknowledge God God gave them up to a debased mind

to do what they ought not be done do we ever get to a place where God gives up

on us this scripture right here says yes it says I'm gonna read it again people

I'm going to read it again verse 28 chapter 1 Romans chapter 1 verse 28 and

since they did not see fit to acknowledge God God gave them up to a

debased mind to do what ought not be

done he let them do what they wanted to do why because they refus to acknowledge

God and his ways God will God will give up on

you does he does that mean he doesn't love you no that's not what that means that means he loves you enough to

allow you to do what you want to do even if that doing is wrong look at the story

look look at look at the story of the um uh

um um uh not the Good Samaritan the story of

the uh um the the brother who took his uh um

said I want my goods I want my stuff right now and went out and partied and

and partied and partied all the stuff away and then when and then when he when

he was in the pig pin he came to a realization I don't have to live like

this my father is a king and I can go back

there and get myself together you understand what I'm saying

so what did he do he came and he went running back to his

father but he had to have the realization he had to have the

realization first okay if you don't have the realization you can't be

saved that's your Moment of clarity that's your moment of repentance that's your moment of repentance and Faith

right there you see what I'm saying it says

they were filled with all manner verse 29 filled with all manner of unrighteousness evil covetousness malice

they are full of Envy murder Strife deceit maliciousness they are gossips

slanderers hater haters of God insolent hottie boastful inventors of evil

disobedient to parents foolish faithless heartless ruthless though they know

God's righteous decree listen to this part guys though they know God's righteous decree they know the word of

God these these are not people that are foreign to the word of God that don't understand God's

righteousness they know it but they're doing all this other stuff all this sinful

stuff it said they did it said that those who practice such things deserve

to die he says they not only do them but

give approval to those that practice them so not only are all these people

the prodical son that's what I was digging for The Prodigal Son

yeah we got a lot we got prodigal out here but sometimes the prodigals choose to

stay prodigal and that's truly sad that's truly sad uh bill for spe

it but see God is a merciful god un

listen um I don't care what these Hebrew Israelites are telling you about God hates you know God hates God this God

they want to paint God in a picture in a hateful angry vengeful picture of God

and that's not who God is is that part of God's um character absolutely is that

is look at the word of God from Genesis to Revelation not ch pick all over the

place and set up see because listen guys you can create any kind of belief system

that you want with the Bible it's been done for centuries all you have to do is

cherry-pick what you want and set up a belief system and say look this what the

word of God say no that that is what the word of God says out of context and if

you string enough out of context scriptures together this is how we get cults

guys this is how we get Cults this is how we get Cults you

created in God that reflects themselves absolutely absolutely and I have to ask the

question brother Bill for spe I have to ask the question have they made this

image this False Image based on false doctrine of Revelation one have they

made that into their God a false image of

graven images that's a Graven image and they've done that and they've created it

who in Acts was called Saul Now called Paul in the Holy scriptures we find that

among the Ancients many names were altered Abraham I'm see Abram was was

renamed Abraham Sarah was uh named Sarah and Jacob was name became Israel in the

sons of Ze uh zebede became known as the sons of

thunder but those things occurred by Divine Divine command and he read

nothing and we I'm sorry and we read nothing of the sort in the case of Paul

because of this some people have imagined that the Apostle took the name

of Paul the the the proconsul of Cyprus whom he converted to the

Christian faith in the same way that rulers and we got

to got to reset it of

course what's happening here

okay okay that's better says says are in the habit of adding the

names of conquered peoples in their titles

Patriot uh paricus would would indicate someone who

conquered the parthians right some of these names man

gothicus a Victor over the Goths and so on in the same way the Apostle would

have called himself Paul to indicate that he had conquered proconsul Paul

says we cannot exclude this reason completely but given that no such custom

can be found in the Holy scriptures we ought rather to seek a solution from the

examples we that which we we have which we do have and indeed we find in the

scriptures that some people have two or even three different names you see what I'm saying

um I'm g go I'm I'm not gonna read all of that guys I just wanted to give you a little preview because we gonna do some

we're gonna do some fun stuff with that I I just wanted to show y'all that really really quick and

so yeah so uh but
