'The Golden Girls': Remembering Bea Arthur and Betty White

More than 40 years after ‘The Golden Girls’ first premiered, Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia remain some of television’s most beloved characters. Bea Arthur, who played the sharp-witted Dorothy Zbornak, enjoyed a celebrated career both on stage and screen. A Tony Award winner and multiple Emmy nominee, she remained a familiar face on television well after ‘The Golden Girls’ ended, including appearances in shows like ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. Arthur sadly passed away from lung cancer in 2009 at the age of 86. Betty White, beloved for her portrayal of the sweet but often clueless Rose Nylund, continued working for decades after the series wrapped. Her career resurgence included roles in ‘The Proposal’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’, and even hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’. She sadly died in 2021, just weeks before her 100th birthday.
