Nolan's ‘The Odyssey’ Stuns Global Box Office With $264M Opening

Christopher Nolan's action epic ‘The Odyssey’ opened to $124.5 million from 3,919 North American theaters. ‘The Odyssey’ delivered the year's third-biggest domestic launch, behind ‘Toy Story 5’ and ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.’ Internationally, ‘The Odyssey’ earned $139.6 million across 73 markets, bringing its worldwide opening weekend total to $264.1 million. This is Nolan's largest global launch to date, surpassing ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ ‘The Dark Knight,’ and ‘Oppenheimer.’ Based on Homer's ancient epic poem, the movie stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, returning home after the Trojan War. The ensemble cast also features A-listers including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal. Written and directed by Nolan, ‘The Odyssey’ holds an A rating on CinemaScore and an impressive 95% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.
