hey Husker fans welcome back to the Husker big red YouTube channel I'm Chris Peterson and joining me as always as my
0:06
co-host J Gillette and we're back for another episode to cover a lot of things that have been happening with the
0:11
Nebraska football program they finally addressed the offensive line in the transfer portal um but we have some more
0:17
makeovers coming in the wide receiver room and the secondary um we're going to talk a little basketball too before we
0:22
do that please hit the like button hit the Subscribe button get into the comments section uh Danny how are you doing on this Thursday morning man I'm
0:29
doing good it's cold here it's really cold here and um I just can't wait for spring but we still got a little bit to
0:34
go and uh but yeah I'm doing good because while it's cold outside the Husker news and rumors are heating up
0:42
yeah it seems like you know we always say this but there's never a dull moment uh you know in the in the Nebraska
0:48
athletic world and there hasn't been Nebraska has been um you know really cranked up with the transfer portal and
0:54
you know Dana hogerson talked about it Matt rule talked about it but they've even been maybe more active than I
0:59
thought they were going to be and it just hasn't stopped and finally um on
1:04
two excuse me on Wednesday Nebraska finally is able to address the offensive line with 6 foot7 Elijah pritchet from
1:12
Alabama um started 10 games at right tackle last season started a game at left tackle um played in all of their
1:18
games a former five-star recruit and you look at his rankings in the transfer portal 247 Sports has him as the number
1:24
42 overall Prospect to number four offensive tackle so Danny I know there are some fans that are still up in the
1:30
air about on this Edition but what are your thoughts on Elijah pritchet and Nebraska finally addressing the offensive line I like this move because
1:38
you know the big question that everybody has and the big stat that everybody keeps pointing to is 31 pressures and
1:44
six sacks allowed in 20124 but it gives us depth at a
1:50
position where we lost a guy like Bryce benhardt and people have been also trashing Bryce benhardt in the middle of
1:55
trashing Elijah pritet but I thought benhart played well um over the last couple Seasons maybe not like
2:02
All-American level but I thought he greatly improved so I I put that as a notch in the belt to um Donovan Rola but
2:09
as far as Pritchard is concerned I mean he has great size right 6 foot6 330
2:15
pounds um you know maybe pass blocking is something that the coaching staff can
2:20
can work with him on you know he can definitely improve in that area but I really like this get I mean and I'll
2:27
just say this right now I feel like the worst tackle at Alabama would be a day one starter at Nebraska so I mean I like
2:35
it I really do I'm not going to say you know he's going to be an all americ he's the best one and blah blah blah but I
2:41
think this is a better pickup than some are giving the Huskers credit for yeah I mean you look at offensive
2:48
lineman offensive tackle especially they're hard to get in the transfer portal so to get you know one of the top five players at the position I mean I
2:54
think that that's doing pretty solid work for Nebraska and you know you like you mentioned you lose you know Bryce
3:00
Bard who did play well the last two years you know you compare that to how he looked in 2022 where you there were
3:06
times where he had a tough time getting out of his stance I mean that was Bryce benhard these past two years he was so
3:12
much better um once they took like those braces off and he actually seemed like he could move got his confidence back
3:17
yeah yeah I I wouldn't shock me if he got I'm not saying he's gonna get drafted but I'm I almost guarantee he'll
3:23
be in a camp next year because there's just not very many offensive tackles around even in the NFL so like I feel
3:29
like he'll Le you know get get signed as a rookie um but I like pritet because yeah he started games he's been um you
3:37
know out there against Alabama you know played in that uh reli Quest bowl game against Michigan and his pass blocking
3:42
was was great out as a 65 and to be honest I don't put that much stock in the PFF grades I mean I think that they
3:49
do a pretty good job but you know PFF they don't know exactly like what the scheme is for the they don't know
3:55
offensive line responsibility so I feel like that there's you know I I just don't don't think that's the end all
4:00
Beall in terms of you know grading for players so I'll just say that but um you know a guy who can who can be a
4:06
plug-and-play starter that's Nebraska desperately needed that at tackle they needed one um because right now gunar
4:13
gatul is the only guy on the roster I mean I shouldn't say the only guy but the only guy who's healthy who started
4:18
games at tackle you know Teddy prashka is out there Turner corkran but we have no idea if they're even gonna be on the roster next year at this point with
4:25
their health status so I think this was an essential move and frankly I hope they're not done I I am still wondering
4:32
if because they had that Shai Shaz Pete I think that's how he pronounces his name the offensive tackle from New
4:37
Mexico 68 320 pounds was all conference in 2023 um some of these guys it's
4:43
interesting where they're ranked he actually wasn't ranked before as a transfer now now they do have him ranked 109th overall he's the number 11
4:50
offensive tackle and um like I said he's played over 1,700 snaps at left tackle
4:56
missed part of last season but was all conference and 2023 I he was supposed to visit on Wednesday I'm not sure if he
5:02
did I didn't I don't know if you've seen that but I would love to get both I I mean put him at left tackle put uh
5:08
pritchet at right tackle you know see what you know let let coutula compete as well but it would be nice to have three
5:14
legitimate starting tackles for Nebraska which is something they don't have right now I did see that he was going to visit
5:19
but I'm not sure if he actually did as well but um and again I'm going to go
5:24
back to this because I think it's important we're seeing this coaching staff and Matt rule continue to embrace a transfer portal and I know it's it's
5:32
kind of It kind of you know is not his style and he loves to develop players
5:37
but we're seeing the program be really aggressive and that was a concern that I had coming in would they be aggressive in the transfer portal and the answer is
5:44
yes and they are doing a good job at filling several needs and um one more
5:50
offensive lineman would be great and uh I really have no complaints about this transfer portter class at all I really
5:56
don't they they hit the ground running and they seal the deal with a lot of guys you know early in the process yeah
6:03
they've done an exceptional job I think they've addressed all the major positions of need that you know we
6:08
really wanted them to address um you know they had another pass rusher Maurice West Morland in he ended up
6:14
committing to to Lane so you know to me that always felt like maybe a James Williams you know replacement just like
6:20
a pure pass rusher but um that that because I really liked him like I I I he's an NFL type guy he's going to play
6:26
on Sundays but you know yeah it would have been nice to have uh you know that
6:32
rotation guy to come in um and be that pass rush kind of specialist maybe they didn't like what he did on early Downs
6:38
he was ranked like 700th in the portal some of these rankings are kind of weird um I feel like in some ways 20 you know
6:44
these rankings are prioritizing potential still over production um like you know mares Watson Trent who was you
6:51
the Sun Belt defensive player of the year is ranked in the 600s which is kind of crazy to me but if he was an SEC
6:57
player he wouldn't be that low yeah and so at any rate um will be it will be
7:02
interesting to see what happens you know with Pete if he did take that visit I haven't seen I haven't seen anything so
7:09
maybe he didn't um and maybe that was just kind of like a backup plan if pritchet didn't go through but it would
7:15
I still I would like I it would be nice because um you know maybe Gula could even bump inside and play guard in that
7:21
situation or you at least you know the idea that you're going to make it through a season with your two your top
7:26
two starting tackles like that's probably wishful thinking I mean at some point you're probably going to need a
7:32
third tackle to start a game for you and I would much rather have that be Gunner Gula than like who else would that be
7:38
Grant bricks maybe like I don't know they they really so they still are a little thin at that tackle room um but
7:44
they also have that's the other thing too is there there is time in the spring and I feel like the spring is when we're
7:50
going to get some type of idea on what's up with Teddy prashka and Turner corkran
7:55
because for one I don't know how like injuries factor into this roster limit
8:00
like if Teddy is on the team say just like as an example and he tries to play
8:05
Spring ball in March okay and whatever can't do it and then he can like he medically retire and then that frees up
8:11
a spot for Nebraska like I really don't know how those how injuries factor into this roster limit so it's gonna be I
8:18
think you made a good point there yeah no I think you made a good point because like I bet you they're trying to figure
8:24
out if if he can go and then if he can and if he seems healthy then maybe they
8:29
don't need another guy but if he can or if you know he's struggling a little bit then maybe they'll go out and get
8:34
another guy because I think there's going to be a lot more names entering the portal during that spring window
8:40
because you know they'll you know a lot of them will see the writing on the wall and things like that so maybe they're waiting yeah and that's the other thing
8:46
is we don't at least I haven't seen like you know a date that these teams have to be at this 105 man roster limit so I
8:54
think there's a lot of like gray areas I think teams are just trying to get as close to that number as possible but
9:00
like I just I don't know how that process works like if the you know if there's a certain date or you know if
9:06
you can have if there's any flexibil flexibility with that number based on injuries like there's like Matt rule has
9:12
mentioned that before and I think there's a lot of things that at least publicly we don't know maybe maybe the
9:17
teams know it but um I do think Spring ball maybe will be a situation where
9:23
they have like way over that limit and then they can start kind of dwindling that down based on like what you said
9:29
depth chart and other things like that well I think you're going to see you know programs being run like NFL rosters
9:35
they you're going to have practice you're going to see Cuts you're going to see Cuts you know like I said during spring during summer camp and uh you're
9:41
going to see Cuts during spring ball I think the days of you know just just keeping guys you know on the roster and
9:47
kind of you know shelving them are long over I think it's going to be kind of like a NFL type operation and I think
9:55
honestly just from a Nebraska perspective that's why it was so important to get so new coaches with NFL experience because
10:02
I think we're starting to see the college game be run like a minor league for the NFL even more so than it already
10:09
was yeah for sure and um it's yeah it'll be interesting roster management um you
10:15
know it's going to be a lot like it is in the NFL you know playing paying players at premium positions um you know
10:21
I just think that's that's going to be something that we're going to we're going to see and that's you know Nebraska had a big kind of uh paycheck
10:27
here waiting for a tackle and whether it went to pritchet or you know they had Isaiah world you know they had that money set aside for an offensive tackle
10:35
because they know that's what it's going to take to get one you know and pass rush goes the same way you know I'm sure
10:40
Williams Noy they had money set aside for for that position and that's just the way that you need to build your
10:45
roster and you know it starts with quarterback starts with protecting the quarterback and it starts with uh
10:51
affecting the quarterback which is you know what Matt Ru said in his first press conference and you can see that
10:56
that's still the priority for Nebraska um you know addressing those offensive and defensive lines but they have also
11:03
been very busy in some other positions in the transfer portal too and I want to get to that wide receiver they've already made what four additions three
11:10
additions um I want say Isaiah Isaiah Hunter danne key and then
11:17
um yeah Harding Hardley Gilmore um so three wide receivers there's potentially
11:22
a fourth coming Jonah Wilson who was recruited out of high school by Dana hogerson spent his first two seasons with Houston one of those was a red
11:29
shirt he's in the portal 62 200 lb um was a ranked as um or graded excuse me
11:35
as a 91 coming out as um from high school 293 overall not ranked yet in the
11:40
portal probably not going to be ranked as a fourstar just has doesn't have a ton of production but this is a kid who
11:46
um as a senior in high school 1300 yards 13 touchdowns 17 yards per catch 36
11:53
yards on five kick return opportunities with a 98 yard touchdown and this is in Texas 6A football so like he was playing
11:59
BigTime football um I feel like this is going to be a done deal with uh hogerson he's already been projected to Nebraska
12:06
by like Sean Callahan so um I think Pete go too if I'm not M no I think it might
12:11
have be Sean Kell and Brian mson for now but okay but still I mean usually like
12:17
we've said with transfer predictions like they're more when you see transfer prediction that's like 99% of the time it comes true it seems like so um my
12:25
thought is like man Dana hogerson really did not like this Nebraska football wide receiver room so what what is your take
12:32
away from another addition and the the the wide receiver makeover when Dana hollers said a couple
12:38
weeks ago that they were going to bring in about 20 to 30 you know transfer guys for visits I thought oh that's a high
12:44
number like they would never uh they would never reach that number you know he's just saying that to you know do
12:49
whatever but he wasn't joking he wasn't joking at all and uh you know when I
12:55
look at the wide receiver transfers and when I look at the guys that they want to bring in they all have size you know they're tall
13:02
they they're all kind of physical and they all have speed and I think when you
13:08
look at what the kai Schwarz and hogerson want they want big bodied wide receivers that are athletic you know can
13:15
can catch the football at the point of attack and can you know offer size in
13:21
the Red Zone they're looking for a very specific body type for the wide receivers and they're looking for guys
13:27
that you know they're comfortable obviously ly coaching and you know I think for this type of offense that they
13:34
want to run I think it's honestly a solid move because you know when you look at what the the skill set that
13:41
Dylan Rola has and his ability to want to throw the ball deep and want to throw the ball downfield I mean I hate to say
13:49
it but you couldn't really do that a ton with Jaylen Lloyd in coverage you could do it when he was wide open but he
13:56
didn't have the size um to kind of go after those jump balls and coverage and
14:01
now you have a bunch of big body downfield threats that can you know
14:07
provide that value to the offense so they know what body type they want in the wide receivers they know you know
14:13
guys that they want to go after and it's becoming very clear that they have a vision in the wide receiver room and
14:18
it's not necessarily the small speedsters but the tall big Playmakers and you know Nebraska they
14:26
they've added some pieces but they lost a ton from this wide receiver room not only um you know Isaiah ner and Jamal
14:31
Banks but Malachi Coleman Jaylen Lloyd Isaiah McMorris Davon Hall so they lost
14:37
four guys who basically were you know either in their freshman or sophomore year or had three to four years of
14:43
Eligibility left so it makes sense to go out and get a Hardley Gilmore who's got you know three years of Eligibility a
14:48
Jonah Wilson who's got three years of Eligibility and then you've got Cortez Mills coming in here who um you know is
14:54
a standing out in the Under Armour All-American Game and man it's just it's going to be really this wide receiver
15:00
group because you got you know Cortez um Cortez Mills jakori Barney obviously
15:05
coming back and he's going to have a big role next year danne key Hunter um Hardley Gilmore and now um Wilson plus
15:12
Quinn Clark who you know still I think has a chance to make a name for himself here at Nebraska and so there's a lot of
15:19
you know there's a lot of talented guys and um you know going to be a lot of Ms to feed but I think that's a good
15:24
problem to have and um I think Carter Nelson's going to probably move to tight
15:29
end it just just seems like that's going to you know at this point it just seems like that's the writing on the wall and
15:35
uh so yeah I mean you think about you know harberg and uh you know Carter Nelson at tight end all those weapons at
15:41
wide receiver you know I know running back maybe seems a little bit thin but I think sometimes too you know if you
15:46
trust if you really trust your evaluations and you trust your young guys like at some point you have to let
15:52
them go perform and Nebraska might be at that point with their running backs you know like Quinton IES Nelson jaryan
15:58
Parker coming in like they might just see enough of those guys to say like hey we're just going to roll with them I'm not solid to be honest they haven't I
16:05
mean they haven't shown like any interest in a running back up to this point so I just don't think that that's happening I
16:11
mean it kind of makes sense because Jan Barker is not a guy who necessarily sit on the bench in his first year cter
16:19
Booth could also fit into that category Quinton IES played well on the pinch STP B so you know maybe they do have enough
16:25
and I'm and I'm okay with that if that's the way they want to roll um would I I see another running back sure but do I
16:31
think that the position is completely Barren like some suggest no it's like you know I guess like it's
16:38
a little worrisome the idea if EMT Johnson gets hurt but you know at some point you got to play with who you got
16:43
and I mean Ives has been here for two years and you know Nelson's been here for a year um so we'll see running back
16:50
is one position where young guys generally can contribute you know faster than others so and I've said talked
16:56
about how much I like Jan Parker so I wouldn't me if he uh if he made an impact next year and I think with the
17:02
amount of wide receivers that we have in the room I don't know if we're going to be running the football a ton we're still be running the football don't get me wrong but there's not that pressure
17:08
to get you know so many running backs in the room because running running is going to be the focal point of the
17:14
offense it's going to be passing the football it's going to be important to make sure that there's depth there and
17:19
production there but you know I think we're going to be passing the football a lot so that will help in terms of health and things like
17:25
that and then um and also just the way that they um oron knows how to challenge the defense I think that's also going to
17:32
you know open up the Run game because he's going to make teams defend the entire field you know like that's that's
17:37
the whole part of the spread offense and he you know is a master at it so 15 transfer portal commitments so far but
17:44
um you know looking like a couple of more we talked about the wide receiver another uh could be coming in the
17:50
secondary um let's see it's Marcus I'm trying to think of how do you spell his name Marc Marcus Groves kibu is um the
17:58
other guy that we're kind of looking at for Nebraska he's been projected to the Huskers um played at Arizona last year
18:03
he also played at Texas A&M and one other school um he kind of moved around a little bit his first couple of years
18:09
but um had 24 tackles last year I think six passes broken up so played pretty well for Arizona you look at Nebraska's
18:16
already added Andrew Marshall um Justin Rett let's see who else did they add in the secondary um J yeah jimer Khan so
18:25
they've already added two corners and a safety looking like they could be adding third corner so what does that tell you
18:30
about you know John Butler's kind of a Viewpoint of the secondary he wants his
18:35
guys and he wants you know guys that are very good at defending the pass and taller guys um you know like I love
18:43
Malcolm hardzog but he just couldn't get it done in the secondary spot last year
18:49
so you know they identified secondary as a need you know Tommy Hill is is gone too he went to the draft so um you know
18:57
they saw a need and they went and they attacked it and I think getting another corner is is huge for the depth of the
19:04
secondary run because we saw it last year once blly Hill went down and Tommy Hill you know unfortunately struggled
19:09
with the planner fitis that there wasn't a ton of depth at the corner position and I get that's probably why Malcolm
19:16
had to stay out there just for death's sake so they're making sure that depth is not a problem moving forward and and
19:22
they're getting you know taller guys at the position and uh Groves killer Brew um
19:30
yeah 6 foot 185 lbs so four passes defense last year Sor I was a little off
19:35
on that um he played a couple of games for Texas A&M in 2022 as well um but he
19:41
still got two years to play essentially and um you know just like another
19:46
experienced guy from a from a power four conference he's ranked as a three star um in the 500s in the 24 in the transfer
19:54
portal rankings from 247 sports but you know you you add him and Marshall and KH
20:00
um you know that really helps solidify that cornerback room you know you've also got Donovan Jones and bl Hill um
20:06
you know some of those guys um Jeremiah Charles was another name probably gets lost in sh a little bit yes they you're
20:12
right um obviously the the starter but um yeah I think clearly they wanted to
20:17
add some depth and some size and so you know you've really in my opinion I mean
20:23
you've really solidified that position with adding three guys who have starting experience and I mean I get that two of
20:28
them coming from the FCS level but like I said those guys can play you know Andrew Marshall like I'm not worried
20:34
about that to get another dude from a power force school like I really feel good about where the secondary is I do
20:41
too I think they did a good job like I said of identifying needs and they went out and got them and um you know they're
20:46
stacking depth at multiple multiple positions linebacker corner you know wide receiver like they're they're
20:52
adding depth and they're adding Playmakers so you have to feel good about their efforts in the transfer
20:58
portal so far in the cycle and what it tells me also is that you know when John Butler's
21:04
the DC I think you're going to see more defensive backs on the field like I think you're going to see more than five so yeah that's which you probably should
21:11
i' I've talked about that for years it seems like even going back to the um the old DC um you know under the frost era
21:18
they always wanted to play you know nickel or whatever like it seemed like Nebraska didn't want to play three four
21:23
cornerbacks and I think that's going to change under John Butler and you know when you you play a team like Oregon or
21:28
State like you need four corners you need four good corners or you're going to be screwed because they will spread you out and they've got four four wide
21:35
receivers ranked in the top 100 and if you have one weakness they will shred you and so I think that they're trying
21:40
to prepare for that eventuality and like if you're play if you're going to be a playoff contending team like you need to
21:46
be able to defend those teams and so that to me that's what the this move reflects is the idea that like if we
21:52
play a true spread team that's got four or five wide receivers we need to be able to match up man for man and now we
21:57
can do that yeah and it gives us the flexibility also to kind of mix and match and see
22:04
who who you know who works in certain situations and who doesn't instead of just trying out the same couple guys in
22:11
the secondary I mean you could see at points last season where the secondary was gas and now they don't have to worry
22:17
about you know not having enough depth at the position um all right so now enough uh
22:24
talk about football uh let's switch gears to basketball to wrap up the show um looking back on Tuesday before we
22:31
talk about the Iowa game um the Nebraska Women's Basketball team did get a big victory on a Wednesday night knocking
22:37
off number 20 Michigan State Alexis marowski had 28 points eight rebounds that was her best game of the season so
22:43
big win for Amy Williams team as they try to improve their NCA tournament resume but man tough stretch too for the
22:48
women's team yeah and the Big 10 is tough man that might be the best I think the big 10's the best conference in
22:54
women's basketball it's unbelievable like it's you got um USC UCLA Oregon
23:02
Ohio State Indiana Maryland um Nebraska and Michigan Michigan State I mean
23:07
there's a ton of really good uh Big 10 women's basketball teams and that's true about the men to and they would have had
23:14
a chance for a big time Victory would have been a quad one win um blew a 15-point lead against Iowa which does
23:21
tend to happen at Carver Hawkeye Arena it's not like Nebraska's the first team to blow a lead in that place the officiating was terrible but huge huge
23:29
missed opportunity for the Huskers on Tuesday night yeah definitely and it was
23:34
kind of you know deflating to watch it unfold and uh you know they just they just couldn't stop the bleeding at
23:41
points in the game and they were able to you know again get that big lead and then they were just unable to sustain it
23:48
so it was definitely a missed opportunity on Tuesday but I still feel good about where this team is and where
23:54
they're headed and only their third loss of the season so I mean they they've put together you know a solid body of work
24:01
over the last uh over the last couple weeks and they definitely don't look like the team that lost to Michigan
24:07
State so that's encouraging too and um like we said before it's you know any given day in the Big 10 someone's bound
24:14
to lose or someone's Bound to You Know get upset so so that's just that just
24:20
shows how good the conference is and how kind of balanced it is as well yeah it's
24:26
uh every night is tough and almost every Road game is going to be a quad one um you know opportunity this year for
24:32
Nebraska so there's going to be plenty of other chances um and yeah it's like I said it's it was frustrating and it was
24:38
frustrating to sit there and see Payton sanfort make like a billion threes in the second half like but that's what
24:44
Iowa does and the the transition defense fell apart and the ball screen defense
24:49
was not good down the stretch I mean it was like it seemed like Iowa was either getting an open three or a layup every
24:54
time and I think I think they just got frazzled in that environment and like I've like I said though I've seen that
25:01
happen I've seen Michigan do that I'm a Michigan fan as well I've seen them lose double digit leads at Carver Hawkeye in
25:06
like two minutes like two years ago I think they were up like 11 with literally over a with like 112 left and
25:12
they lost the freaking game it just Iowa knows how to do that they're the weirdest team like in college basketball
25:18
because they every single guy can like shoot the three from 30 feet you know so they just it's just a weird thing and
25:25
yeah it's not all on the officiating but it definitely contrib it was a contributing factor like there was you know like one time Jan Gary like drove
25:33
to the basket and literally like it was a it was a block like the guy basically like he didn't for him but he's
25:39
essentially like with his chest like bummed Gary down and instead of two free throws Nebraska got the ball out of
25:45
bounds with five seconds left on the clock so couldn't really do much with it there was another time where he got a loose ball did not step on the line
25:52
right in front of Fred hyberg and they they called him for stepping on the line um they missed they missed a clear
25:58
double dribble in the last 10 seconds um but you know just there was a number of bad calls but I mean it is what it is
26:06
they just uh they need to bounce back and you know this this game against Purdue now it that to me that's the
26:12
disappointing thing about this is because uh you know if you win that game at Iowa you're three and one in the Big 10 and it's like you know you're kind of
26:18
Off to the Races now if you lose this game to Purdue now you're two now you're two and three and um you're still you're
26:24
still fine but it just seems like to me if they could have won that game against Iowa then maybe they would have a chance
26:29
to you know actually contend for this big 10 tit for this big 10 championship and they're going to probably have to
26:35
win this game at Purdue to try to keep that keep that hope alive which that's maybe that's too uh too ambitious of me
26:41
but I did after they after they whipped UCLA I kind of was like man maybe this team could contend for the Big 10 title
26:47
because it is pretty wide open as long as they make it to the NCA tournament I don't know about the Big 10 title I mean
26:52
that maybe that is ambitious but I feel I feel good about this team's chances in an NCA tournament type of game so we'll
27:00
see what happens but uh Purdue is going to be a big game it's going to be a big game it's not going to be easy you know Purdue is also another tough team so you
27:07
know I'm interested to see how how they bounce back um coming up they finally
27:13
don't have uh Zach e Zach eay though so that's that's a good thing what a
27:18
nightmare he was although we stopped him uh at home last year and made them look
27:23
kind of small so that was yeah that that was awesome that was a great win I'm
27:28
just trying to check the latest uh Bracketology to see where the husk see where the Huskers are at so number eight
27:34
Nebraska and the latest ESPN Bracketology from um Joe lardy is a
27:39
number eight seed they would have to play Arkansas right now I don't love the A9 range because it's very e like evenly
27:46
matched games like Texas A&M that match up last year really really messed us up badly that was a terrible match up yeah
27:54
if you could get up to like a six you six line which I do think is possible this this team's got some good wins so
28:01
you know this um this Purdue game is going to be a big test though so I'm I'm excited to see how that goes that's on
28:06
Saturday I believe let me double check here I've been not been great with my times folks so I apologize for that um
28:14
my phone is too sometimes the smartphone is too smart for me and it outsmarts me
28:19
so um so 10 so 10 o'clock so it's gonna be 11 Central Time on Sunday BTN Big 10
28:26
Network no peacock so you can uh check out Nebraska before you get ready for the NFL playoffs and hopefully they get
28:32
a top 20 Road win I'm excited for the college football playoffs uh today
28:37
actually today yes we should we we kind of dropped the ball on our we never
28:43
really picked the playoff gam so before we go today let's let's do that so we got what Ohio State and Texas tonight
28:49
Notre Dame Penn State tomorrow so who you who you got who's your final who's your final two going to be Ohio State
28:55
and Notre Dame I agree with you as much as I hate it Ohio State and Notre Dame uh just not
29:01
the best uh final for a Michigan a Michigan fan but I feel like Ohio State wins the national championship because
29:07
they're on a rooll right now they are they are on I think so too I do think though I think that Texas and Notre Dame
29:14
are going to um give them G give them a game though because I feel like they have the defensive line to you know kind
29:22
of control if anybody can do what Michigan was able to do left in this playoff I think it's Texas and then
29:27
maybe Notre Dame and I I think Notre Dame's I think Notre Dame maybe has it
29:33
in to do what Michigan could do and run the football play good defense and my God people like just bracket Jeremiah
29:40
Smith go watch the Michigan Ohio State game try to do what they did like do not leave Jeremiah Smith one-on-one like
29:46
that is not that's not a winning match up against anybody like I don't care there's maybe Nebraska beats Michigan
29:52
next year I don't know I think it's going to be a good game I think um I don't think
29:58
it's going to be like what we saw two or two years ago yeah two years ago I think it'll be yeah I think it'll be a really
30:04
good game I think it'll be a really good game I think that there's a strong chance that Bryce Underwood is starting
30:10
that game um so I think Bryce Underwood and Dylan Rola and um I don't know I
30:16
think Michigan's gonna have a better defense like but I do think Nebraska will have a better offense so it just
30:21
kind of depends how good the Nebraska defense will be which I think will be pretty good I I just don't think they
30:27
have quite as much uh NFL Talent up front as Michigan but I do think um you
30:33
know if they can get some production out of like Riley van poo and some of those guys like I definitely think Nebraska
30:38
can win that game I think every game on the schedule's winnable and that includes playing Penn State on the road
30:44
I really think that I mean yeah Nebraska's gonna be a double digit Underdog probably for that game but they
30:50
can beat Penn State Penn State which Penn State with James Franklin is beatable in Saturday any coach with
30:57
James Franklin or any team of James Franklin as coach is beatable and then final question do
31:02
you think my pal JJ McCarthy ever sees a starting snap in a Vikings uniform oh I hope not I hope they trade
31:09
him I I would TR like I would trade him because I don't know what happened to Sam darnold but he is he is uh on fire
31:18
he is on fire what I hope happens is that the Vikings like win a playoff game
31:24
and then lose and then Trey J M JJ McCarthy signed Sam darnold to a big contract and then Sam darnold sucks and
31:31
JJ McCarthy's awesome where were they traded to I don't know hopefully the New
31:36
York Giants I'm a I kind of like the Giants back when like pcel was was the coach um yeah y so that wouldn't be I I
31:44
yeah the Giants should have taken him last year as I told my friend who's a Giants fan because their quarterback situated I was like Daniel Jones is not
31:51
the answer and now they're sitting beer a year later still needing a quarterback so I don't know Malik neighbors is pretty damn good I wish the Patriots
31:57
some they're able to take neighbors but yeah I like May so we'll see can
32:03
they draft Jeremiah Smith can we make Jeremiah I would take him with the number four pick that the Patriots have
32:09
on right away I I I think they're gonna end up taking like a tackle or something because they need help everywhere but I
32:16
mean the fact that they Lo the fact that they won that game that was Gerard Mayo's Fu to
32:22
ownership uh that that press conference too from Craft that was just bad I like
32:28
I I set him up to fail like yeah you did yeah you did and uh they have they have
32:34
an interview with u Ben Johnson tomorrow I'm hoping for Ben Johnson I really don't I feel like Mike frabel like we
32:40
need an offensive minded head coach we've had a defensive minded head coach for like 25 years and I feel like we an
32:46
offensive mind head coach but just get rid of the stop stop trying to like replicate the Patriot Way you're not
32:52
going to do that just get somebody else start start fresh so I get my and I get that Mike Vel wasn't technically under
32:59
the bill Bel coaching tree but getting rid of any ties to the Patriots as far
33:04
as a head coach is concerned I mean that's the route I would go but I would too well there is your New England
33:11
Patriots part of this podcast folks so hopefully you enjoy that um but as always hit the like button hit the
