hey Husker fans welcome back to the
0:03
Husker Big Red YouTube channel and
0:04
welcome to another episode of the
0:05
podcast I'm Chris Peterson and joining
0:07
me as always is Danny Gillette my
0:09
co-host And we're back here on Thursday
0:11
morning We're going to talk some Shamar
0:12
Brown and give you the latest on the
0:14
Huskers pursuit of the North Dakota
0:16
State running back Um we're also going
0:17
to talk a little bit of uh recruiting
0:19
some roster limits and maybe some uh NFL
0:21
draft since that is kicking off tonight
0:23
with the first round So before we get
0:25
into it please make sure that you uh
0:27
subscribe hit the like button get into
0:29
the comment section Uh Danny how are you
0:31
doing on draft day i'm ready for a busy
0:33
weekend that's for sure Between It seems
0:35
like everything's happening all at once
0:36
between the um spring game or maybe I
0:39
shouldn't call it that Uh and the NFL
0:42
draft and this recruiting news I'm going
0:44
to have a lot to do this weekend It's
0:47
going to be it's going to be busy It's
0:48
actually the draft is like snuck up on
0:50
me I'm usually a huge draft fan and I'm
0:52
like man I can't believe it's uh it's
0:54
already here I've hardly even uh I've
0:56
hardly even like considered who I want
0:59
uh like my Green Bay Packers and my
1:00
Patriots to take A little bit We've
1:02
talked about it a little bit but uh
1:04
should be should be fun I wish there was
1:06
going to be some Nebraska players
1:07
tonight but um you know hopefully in the
1:09
next few years we can get back to you
1:12
know seeing the Huskers regularly in the
1:14
first round because it's been a long
1:15
time What prince Amukamar wasn't he the
1:17
last first rounder like 10 years ago or
1:19
something over 10 years ago now but 2012
1:22
I think it was Yeah Yeah So um well
1:25
there's a lot of things uh happening
1:27
Let's uh get into it here with Chamar
1:29
Brown and that's kind of the the topic
1:31
of conversation among Nebraska football
1:33
fans You sent me a thing last night
1:36
where he was in Nebraska coming to
1:38
Nebraska today for his visit Um he's
1:40
going to be taking part not taking part
1:41
but he's going to be up there for um the
1:43
final practice And I think that's a good
1:45
kind of a smart thing by the coaching
1:47
staff because he'll get to see you know
1:48
some of the offensive linemen you know
1:50
Rocco Spindler some of those dudes who
1:52
probably aren't going to play Saturday
1:54
Um you know get a chance to see the
1:55
offense You know he has a close
1:57
relationship with like Sledge Uh that
2:00
was something I read Um and I think it's
2:02
a good sign that he got out of Miami
2:04
There's visits kind of on the docket for
2:06
Cal and Kansas State Um but what's kind
2:09
of your read you know on the situation
2:11
it's kind of been hard to to gather on
2:13
the Nebraska side like how serious they
2:15
are like how much they're going to be
2:17
willing to spend on this recruitment but
2:19
um now that he's visiting what are your
2:21
what's your read on this situation miami
2:24
has two very good quarterbacks or uh
2:26
running backs excuse me and Mark
2:28
Fletcher and Jordan Lyall So I think
2:31
that works to Nebraska's advantage
2:33
because I'm not sure he would be coming
2:34
to Miami to be a third running back And
2:37
Miami has other pressing needs uh for
2:39
this spring window The fact that he's
2:41
visiting Nebraska is a good sign I'll be
2:46
interested to see and we and we've
2:47
talked about this before what his price
2:49
point is Um I think he would have a
2:52
larger role at Nebraska than he would at
2:54
say Miami for example Um but I'm going
2:58
to be very interested to see you know
3:01
what comes of this weekend It would be
3:03
great to keep a local khong because he's
3:06
from Nebraska if I'm not mistaken And um
3:09
you know I think that he would
3:12
definitely add something to the
3:14
backfield With that being said I
3:16
wouldn't get into a bidding war for him
3:18
just because you know that's a lot to
3:22
spend on a backup running back And I
3:25
know a lot of fans don't feel this way
3:28
but I feel comfortable with where this
3:31
room stands talent-wise
3:33
depthwise is a different story but I
3:36
wouldn't break the bank for Brown
3:39
And I think that's going to be um you
3:42
know I guess I think that's been the key
3:43
question this entire time right like
3:45
Matt Rule and Pat Stewart have to kind
3:48
of evaluate
3:49
um you know what it is going to co what
3:51
it is going to cost to get you know
3:52
Chamar Brown How does that affect you
3:54
know the rest of the roster and the
3:55
salary cap and you know I think it's I
3:58
my read on the situation is I I don't
4:01
think they should get into a bidding war
4:02
either I agree with that I don't think
4:04
they should you know I don't think that
4:06
they should try or try to you know outdo
4:09
Miami's number I don't think that that's
4:10
the way Nebraska you know wins this
4:12
recruitment I think they need to be
4:14
competitive I think it needs to be you
4:16
know if Miami is offering 500,000 and
4:18
Nebraska's offering you know a 100,000
4:20
then you know that's probably we
4:22
probably know where that decision's
4:23
headed But you know if it's you know
4:25
somewhere more competitive I mean these
4:27
these are just I'm just throwing out
4:28
these numbers I don't have anything to
4:29
back these up So just you know FYI but
4:32
say it's like you know they're offering
4:33
500 Nebraska's offering 400 you know
4:35
then maybe it's like okay well you know
4:38
I have my family here because there's
4:39
the other thing It's like how it's going
4:40
to be a lot easier for Tamar Brown's
4:42
family to you know watch him play at
4:44
Nebraska or even Kansas State I mean
4:46
I'll give that too but then it's to
4:47
Miami You know if he's playing in Miami
4:50
you know it's going to be hard for I
4:52
mean yeah they'll have a lot of NIL
4:53
money and maybe that can you know ease
4:54
that burden a little bit But I do think
4:56
that that is one thing the uh you know
4:58
playing close to home Um but also you
5:02
know does he have some hurt feelings
5:03
from 2023 when the Nebraska basically
5:05
took Quinton Ives over him i mean I
5:07
realized that some of that was with was
5:09
the previous staff but you know if
5:11
Nebraska really wanted him two years ago
5:14
they could have had him I mean they
5:15
could have flipped him they could have
5:16
recruited him they went another
5:17
direction And it seems to me like
5:20
they're going to do that again Um you
5:22
know maybe they haven't seen enough I I
5:24
think that they like Jamar Brown I think
5:26
they would definitely take him on this
5:27
roster but I don't like I said like you
5:29
said I don't know that they're willing
5:30
to you know spend the rest of their
5:32
budget and I don't know how much they
5:34
have left in their NIL budget to be
5:35
honest with you So that's another
5:36
question Like we just don't know Um
5:39
those are those internal things that
5:40
they have to figure out I'm sure they
5:42
have some I mean Matt Rule talked about
5:44
like potentially adding a player if they
5:46
could So I feel like they have you know
5:48
resources um to get there but yeah it's
5:52
an interesting situation And I do think
5:54
Quinton Ives um you know the coaching
5:56
staff is obviously very high and
5:58
believes in him and and I think there's
5:59
good reason for that But you know if you
6:01
can make this move I really think they
6:03
should But like I said it's not I don't
6:05
think it's worth it to to get into a
6:07
bidding war I think that the depth is
6:08
good enough where they don't have to try
6:10
to break the bank and get desperate for
6:11
Jamar Brown If the number is in the
6:14
thousands then there's no reason why
6:16
they shouldn't be able to reach it or
6:18
match it or you know exceed it Once it
6:21
gets to the millions that's what I would
6:23
kind of stop with the bidding war Um and
6:27
it's very obvious like we've heard them
6:30
talk throughout the course of the spring
6:32
about the progress that the running back
6:34
room has made So it's very obvious that
6:36
they that they like what they have A lot
6:38
of people I was reading online last
6:41
night said this must mean that
6:43
Nebraska's not confident in you know the
6:47
running backs that they have in the room
6:49
And I don't really see it like that I
6:50
see it as you know they have an
6:53
opportunity to get a local kid on campus
6:54
who's extremely talented won the Jerry
6:56
Rice award as the most outstanding
6:59
freshman in the FCS and now they're
7:01
going to try to bid for him because
7:02
these days it's not necessarily about
7:05
what you need and what you have and
7:06
things like that It's about getting
7:08
talented players on a roster So I So
7:12
again I do think that the Nebraska
7:14
coaching staff is confident in what they
7:16
have in the room They've talked you know
7:19
Nelson and Ives up highly Um and I'd be
7:23
very hesitant if the number gets over a
7:26
million to enter a bidding war
7:29
Yeah I'd be surprised if they went that
7:32
high with it Um but we'll see I mean
7:34
they spent a lot for Roco Spinler I
7:36
think So but I I believe they value
7:39
offensive line you know more than
7:41
running back especially you know a guy
7:43
that's probably going to that would
7:44
probably be the number two I really
7:45
don't think he would would beat out EMTT
7:47
Johnson Um but I like I have mentioned
7:50
you know EMTT is only 205 pounds and I
7:53
wonder if he you know is going to be
7:55
able to hold up for nine Big 10 games
7:56
you know getting the ball close to you
7:58
know 15 20 times a game You know we
8:00
we'll see I mean I think that I think
8:03
he's proven the past couple years he can
8:04
hold up pretty well but he hasn't really
8:07
you know they they've kind of gone to
8:09
him more later in the season So you know
8:11
can he do it for you know 12 games and
8:13
you know can Quinton Knives hold up
8:16
because that's the thing is like if EMTT
8:17
Johnson goes down if there's an injury
8:19
to EMTT Johnson that's where it gets you
8:21
know scary to me And it's like and I
8:23
feel like those are the kind of things
8:24
that you just have to kind of plan for
8:27
because you know you're running like in
8:29
the Big 10 your running backs are going
8:30
to get banged up And so you know at some
8:32
point this season you know whether it's
8:34
Chamar Brown or whether it's Quinton
8:35
Ives like somebody else is probably
8:37
going to have to take over that lead
8:38
role whether it's for half a game or for
8:41
a full game or for a couple games Like
8:42
that's just usually how it works in the
8:44
Big 10 And so you know that's what I'm
8:46
thinking of And do we you know is
8:48
Quinton Knives ready for that i think
8:50
there's a chance that he is but we don't
8:52
know That's just that's a risk that it
8:54
seems like Nebraska's Yeah or Nelson Um
8:57
it seems like Nebraska's willing to take
8:59
that risk But I do I do think it seems
9:01
like Quinton Knives has definitely
9:02
established himself as the as the number
9:04
two currently on the roster And I do
9:07
think for you know the offensive line
9:10
comparison you you you're going to have
9:12
to pay out the nose for a transfer
9:15
portal offensive linement anyway So I
9:16
think the situations differ slightly in
9:18
that regard And Nebraska needed like
9:21
they desperately needed somebody at
9:25
Spindler's position Um here I'm not sure
9:28
they desperately need a running back but
9:30
the combination of the need on offensive
9:33
line and the offensive lineman market I
9:36
mean we saw Isaiah World go to Oregon
9:39
for a good amount of money Um you know I
9:41
think those factors played a role too
9:44
Yeah absolutely Um so yeah I think that
9:48
I don't think that they're that like you
9:50
know that worried if they have to go
9:51
with Quint Knives I mean like I said
9:53
they took Quinton Ives over Chamar Brown
9:55
you know originally as a recruit so I
9:58
don't think it's going to be that
9:59
surprising Um we'll see how it works out
10:02
I think we'll know a lot by the end of
10:04
today Um you know Cal's out there too
10:07
and they lost all their running backs so
10:08
like if he wants to you know have a true
10:12
RB1 situation that would be a good spot
10:14
to go Um Kansas State has some talented
10:16
backs you know so it be a similar type
10:19
of situation Um but I really feel like
10:21
it's I feel like it's going to be
10:23
Nebraska or Miami That's just what my
10:24
gut tells me And again I think it's
10:27
going to come down to the money and uh
10:29
the role And I feel like if he wants
10:31
playing time come to Nebraska If he
10:34
wants money and sunny weather and girls
10:38
go to Miami Yeah we'll we'll see Uh
10:41
we'll see how that works out Um I guess
10:44
one thing that kind of is interesting
10:45
that kind of ties in not with Chamar
10:47
Brown per se but with the the spring
10:49
transfer portal and uh roster limits is
10:52
that the uh the house settlement um and
10:54
I I don't know the judge's name I'm sure
10:56
I could find it I don't think you guys
10:58
really care that much It's just about
10:59
what the judge said And the judge
11:01
basically said that they she will not
11:03
approve the settlement as is unless
11:06
there's a change made to you know the
11:08
roster limits So basically it seems like
11:11
unless um players like are grandfathered
11:14
in or the roster limits are pushed down
11:16
the road on the that settlement's not
11:18
going to get approved So I don't think
11:20
roster limits that 105 man roster limit
11:22
is going to be a thing this year
11:25
Yep Yeah which is a really good thing I
11:27
think for Nebraska because you know
11:29
they've got 130 guys on this roster and
11:31
they have people like you know Teddy
11:32
Posashka you know people like that that
11:35
probably could you know make it have a
11:37
spot on this roster potentially could
11:38
have a spot you know even on the field
11:41
but like rostering them on the 105 was
11:43
kind of dicey because you just don't
11:44
know what you're going to get out of
11:45
them So I feel like you know while this
11:47
probably helps quite a few teams I feel
11:49
like it's going to help Nebraska more
11:50
than almost anybody especially with
11:52
offensive line depth And that way you
11:54
can have a guy like Brahoska in case
11:56
somebody goes down and not have to worry
11:58
about you know where you stand there And
12:01
so I think this is a really good thing
12:04
Um I'll be interested to see if it
12:06
extends past 2025 Was it just Was it
12:09
just 2025 was the ruling this uh last
12:12
night
12:14
she just said that she um wanted them to
12:16
come up with a way to to grand
12:18
essentially grandfather in current
12:20
players So I'm not sure exactly what
12:22
that means or or what that's going to
12:24
look like Um I think the NCAA just has
12:26
to come up with with something that's
12:28
not going to force I think essentially
12:30
her point was like you know you're
12:32
having all these guys who were offered
12:33
scholarships and signed for these
12:34
scholarships and now they're going to
12:36
basically face an undue penalty because
12:38
you decided to change your own rules And
12:40
so I don't know if they're gonna you
12:42
know extend it beyond this season but
12:44
could be It could be a two or threeyear
12:46
thing before it actually you know comes
12:48
to pass So I'm not it'll be interesting
12:50
to see what that looks like but um yeah
12:53
I don't think I don't think there'll be
12:55
anything like a 105man roster limit this
12:57
season It's the NCAA so they'll find a
13:00
way to mess this up I'll be interested
13:01
to see how they handle it They kind of
13:03
already have they kind of already have
13:05
at this point But yeah I mean it was
13:07
pretty clear the judge you know
13:09
basically said that before um that she
13:12
wanted you know some she she said
13:14
everything is fine with us except the
13:16
roster limits because it does you know
13:18
like you're Teddy Pashka like you you
13:20
know did your part and now you're not
13:22
going to be on the team because of this
13:23
you know roster limit that didn't exist
13:25
before So I mean I do understand where
13:27
she's coming from and you know from a
13:29
selfish perspective it would be nice to
13:31
be able to to hang on to some of these
13:32
players that you know like Matt Rule
13:34
said they're they're like I'm a Husker
13:36
until you know you tell me I'm not So
13:38
now at least for this season you know
13:39
he's not going to have to tell some of
13:40
those guys that they don't get to be a
13:41
Husker I think So that that'll be a good
13:43
thing And I'm looking at the wide
13:45
receiver room too like a guy like
13:46
Demetus Bell for example and you know
13:49
some of the other guys too And not that
13:51
we need more wide receivers but there's
13:52
just a ton of talent there So yeah I
13:55
think this is a really good thing too Um
13:58
I'll be interested like I said to see
13:59
how the NCA handles it because I don't
14:01
have confidence that they've uh that
14:04
they will be able to handle it in an
14:06
effective manner They've already done so
14:08
well with NIL and uh we we've seen where
14:12
that's gone So we'll see Yeah we we one
14:15
would think they wouldn't blow up the
14:16
settlement over this but you never know
14:18
with those guys So yeah but uh speaking
14:21
of that the uh the spring game yeah that
14:23
will be um kind of interesting Like
14:25
Demetrius Belly somebody to keep an eye
14:27
on Quinn Clark uh some of these
14:28
offensive linemen Um I did I did want to
14:32
mention um you know the I was listening
14:34
to the Husker online guys and they were
14:37
talking about
14:38
um Henry Lefoski being the right tackle
14:41
and possibly Turner Corkran being the
14:42
left tackle which made me think of you
14:44
Danny because I know that you love those
14:46
guys so much So I don't mind Henry I'm
14:48
just tired of seeing Turner to be honest
14:50
with you He was a walking penalty two
14:52
years ago and he's never been able to
14:53
stay healthy
14:55
That's true I also did think that
14:57
Nebraska always played him out of
14:58
position So you know if he actually just
15:00
did play guard he probably would be a
15:02
pretty good left guard But you know I
15:05
don't know There's there's some other
15:06
guys you know Gunner Gautula you know if
15:08
I like Gunnar I really do like Gunner
15:10
And I'm not just saying that because I
15:11
you know don't care for Ted for Teddy
15:13
but I do I do really like Gunnar I
15:15
thought he played well last year I
15:17
thought he did too and he played left
15:18
tackle so maybe he could bump into the
15:20
left guard It seems like they really
15:21
want Lati to play tackle Um and he's he
15:25
is 66 now and he played right guard last
15:27
season So I don't know I mean if that's
15:29
that maybe that they see that as an
15:31
easier transition than Guta you know
15:33
switching from right to left Um but
15:35
either way I think they've got you know
15:37
a lot of solid options I mean in just
15:39
right there you know Guta Corkran and um
15:43
Kleptoski you've you've got three guys
15:44
who have started a lot of games for you
15:46
So yeah absolutely And it's nice to have
15:50
be able to have depth right and it's
15:52
nice to be able to have options and
15:54
honestly it's nice to you know in my
15:57
opinion know who your center is And
15:59
Justin Evans Jenkins I mean it seems
16:00
like he's established himself as a
16:02
center early on So I really like him and
16:06
uh so it's nice to have that spot kind
16:09
of pencled in because Ben Scott I know
16:12
he necessarily didn't get the headlines
16:14
but he played really well He was he was
16:15
named to an all Big 10 team I believe it
16:17
was last year So um I'm excited to that
16:21
center play has um has been consistent
16:26
and and on that note shout out to Cam
16:28
Jurgens for signing an extension with
16:30
the Philadelphia Eagles So this was a
16:32
guy that couldn't snap the ball you know
16:35
his final season went out and busted his
16:38
butt at the combine and now he's now
16:40
he's rolling He's cooking So congrats to
16:43
him Scott Frost was right about him Yeah
16:46
for sure Congrats to him Um yeah that
16:49
was that's awesome to see Um and I Yeah
16:52
back to the roster limits thing like I
16:53
love the fact that they're going to be
16:56
able to carry you know Teddy Posashka on
16:58
this team and not have to worry about
16:59
the 105 or whatever because I know like
17:02
he hasn't been able to stay healthy like
17:03
whatsoever but if there if you have some
17:05
injury issues and you know that dude's
17:07
healthy if he can stay on the field like
17:09
whenever he's been on the field he's
17:10
been pretty good So you know I don't
17:12
know Maybe part of the injury issue So I
17:14
don't know No he has been for sure
17:17
When you're six when you're 610 but I'm
17:19
just saying if he's somehow you know
17:21
like if if Elijah Pritchette goes down
17:23
at some point during the season and
17:24
Teddy's over there like 100% like he
17:27
could go out there and never give the
17:28
job back Like that's you just don't know
17:30
with him Like I feel like he he's got so
17:34
much potential Like I feel like if he
17:35
could stay healthy for a full season and
17:37
play like 12 games healthy I really do
17:39
think he could get drafted like I you
17:41
know I don't know if he could ever keep
17:43
himself healthy to get on the field but
17:45
he's got like he's got all the skills to
17:46
be a really good tackle It's just you
17:48
know can he stay healthy So we'll see I
17:50
I hope that he can Um and even man even
17:53
if he didn't play like very many games
17:54
this year if he could just get through a
17:56
season like even if he's just a backup
17:58
without getting a season injury that
18:00
would be a victory Yeah So you know and
18:03
then I mean honestly like if he went to
18:05
the draft like if I was an NFL team I
18:06
would at least sign him to like a rookie
18:08
free agent contract because you you
18:10
might hit the lottery with this dude
18:11
Like how many guys are 69 and can pass
18:13
protect i mean you know True Yeah So uh
18:18
but yeah it'll be it'll be interesting
18:19
to see how that works out And then the
18:21
portal closes I think on Friday or
18:25
already closed or maybe or maybe I'm
18:27
mistaken I think it closes on Friday Um
18:30
it might have already closed for
18:32
basketball Maybe that's Oh I think it's
18:34
basketball Yeah it's basketball You're
18:36
right Um but football gonna be closing
18:39
today DeAndre Barnes um went into the
18:41
portal Um you know he got some buzz this
18:44
this spring um as a guy that could
18:46
possibly work his way into the 2D but
18:48
that's just that's where he is He he was
18:50
on the roster for two years and played
18:52
in one game So like from his perspective
18:54
you know if you're sitting there like
18:55
man I'm like the seventh or eighth
18:57
quarterback like do you want to waste
18:58
you know he's already lost a year of
19:00
eligibility playing one game I
19:02
understand wanting to try to go
19:03
somewhere else and and playing your
19:05
three seasons So um yeah the corner room
19:07
is completely different now So I
19:08
honestly don't blame him whatsoever Yeah
19:11
and I do think he can find a place to
19:12
play I think he's good enough to play
19:14
somewhere It just was going to be it was
19:15
just going to be hard to find a spot
19:17
here because there's so many I mean
19:18
there's so many guys that we're not even
19:20
like talking about Uh Jeremiah Charles
19:23
um you know is another guy Um Bryce
19:25
Turner doesn't get talked about very
19:27
much Um you know Larry Tarver Amari
19:30
Sanders I mean there's just a bunch of
19:32
young guys Mario Buford in that room
19:34
Donovan Jones who played really well in
19:36
the bowl game Yeah Evan is Evan Taylor
19:38
right yep From Carolina North Carolina
19:41
Yeah Yeah So um always screws me on
19:44
college football 25 but anyway that's
19:46
not his fault Um but still on the So
19:50
there's just a really uh really loaded
19:52
cornerback room there So I don't You're
19:54
right Obviously not that he's a depth
19:56
piece or anything but just kind of
19:57
headlining that room And uh my boy
20:00
Andrew Marshall from the Big Sky I'm
20:02
stoked to stoked to see him So um anyway
20:05
speaking of uh players from Idaho to
20:08
switch over to uh some recruiting uh
20:10
Kelvin Obad from the state of Idaho
20:13
Futland Idaho which I have never heard
20:14
of before Um but anyway he is one of the
20:17
best offensive tackles in the 2026 class
20:19
and did include Nebraska in his top five
20:22
It's also I think Michigan um Oregon I
20:26
think you USC and Utah I want to say
20:28
that's the top five Um I think a reason
20:31
for Nebraska fans to feel good He's been
20:33
on campus twice He doesn't really have
20:36
an official visit schedule yet so I mean
20:38
getting him back on campus that's going
20:40
to be you know a big thing there But um
20:42
you know he's a really talented guy
20:44
They've been in the mix with a lot of
20:45
offensive tackles I would love to see
20:46
them you know finally close like on a on
20:49
a premier one which I think he
20:55
And then um let's see there was another
20:59
we talked about uh Bonner earlier
21:02
earlier this week the running back Um
21:04
one thing
21:06
Yeah Hayden Ainsworth is another guy
21:08
that uh Nebraska made the top five for
21:12
Um and he's out of Buxy Mississippi um a
21:16
three star not rated quite as high but
21:18
another talented guy Old Miss you know
21:20
in the in the mix here He does have an
21:22
official visit set up for Nebraska And
21:24
he essentially I think yeah and uh so
21:28
Florida State um Liberty is kind of
21:31
interesting North Carolina and Miss are
21:33
the other ones So I'm like how is
21:34
Liberty in the mix there but um they
21:37
always have a good passing offense to be
21:39
fair That's where my That's true That's
21:41
where Deir Douglas came from Patriot but
21:44
receiver
21:46
Um so that will be I think that'll be an
21:49
interesting one with Ainsworth
21:51
Um he pretty much said like the official
21:54
visits are going to tell the story of
21:55
this recruitment So um so those are two
21:58
finalists this week Watch out for
21:59
Liberty Yeah Watch out for Watch out for
22:03
Liberty That's going to And then North
22:05
Carolina State I guess is in the mix too
22:07
So because it's when they changed that a
22:09
few years ago you used to only be able
22:10
to take five official visits Now you can
22:11
take as many as you want North Carolina
22:14
State I believe is going to get his
22:15
first visit Nebraska is going to get his
22:17
second and
22:18
then beyond that I don't remember off
22:21
the top of my head but
22:23
So when I'm looking um at the June
22:25
visits list um which was uh the Black
22:28
Shirt Social media account posted this
22:30
but it's from on three Um and looking at
22:34
it you know like Kelvin Obot is one of
22:36
the guys I would like to see added to
22:37
this list You know he's not he's not an
22:39
official visitor yet Um but yeah CJ
22:42
Brona Bonner
22:44
um you know Dayton Raola Luke Sorenson
22:47
Lincoln Watkins Devin Jackson who just
22:50
flipped from uh didn't flip but just
22:52
decommitted from Florida I would watch
22:54
him closely him and Danny ODM
22:57
Um running back's going to be they've
22:58
got three running backs visiting uh
23:01
Deven Walker um Brian Bonner and then uh
23:05
Jamal Rules So those are you know I
23:08
don't know if they're going to take two
23:09
this year I I always think you should
23:11
try to take two It'd be nice if they
23:12
could get it'd be nice if they could get
23:14
you know another blue chip running back
23:16
because I mean if you really you're
23:18
looking back you know beyond the 2023
23:21
class like it's it's been a long time
23:23
since they've like gotten some big-time
23:24
running backs Shamiran Parker is
23:25
probably the closest thing to what I
23:27
would say like a big time running back
23:28
recruit Um so I'd really like to see
23:30
them follow up and and hit with either
23:32
Bonner um or Deceven Walker which you
23:36
know is not going to be easy with either
23:37
of those guys but I I think they they
23:38
definitely have a chance So one of the
23:41
guys that's coming back today that's
23:42
kind of interesting in the fact that
23:44
he's coming back is linebacker Jordan
23:46
Campbell He's been on campus multiple
23:48
times and I'm wondering how close
23:50
Nebraska really is to sealing the deal I
23:52
know again Miami wants him obviously
23:54
because he's out of Florida You know
23:56
he's one of my favorite uh prospects but
23:59
him coming back is certainly a good sign
24:01
and I'm very curious about what this
24:03
means with him in Nebraska
24:05
Yeah and he's another one to see maybe
24:07
they could get him back for an official
24:09
visit because he's going uh that he's
24:11
visiting Miami June 20th That's his only
24:13
official visit right now So if Nebraska
24:16
could uh you know get him on the on the
24:17
schedule for that I think that would be
24:19
a really good sign Um Jace Reynolds I
24:23
know is going to be visiting this
24:24
weekend He's on track for an official
24:26
visit so I think things are still kind
24:28
of trending up there Darien Jones also
24:30
released his top five recently Um
24:34
Nebraska Nebraska's definitely you know
24:36
right in the mix there I know Iowa State
24:37
is I know Iowa's in the mix Um these
24:40
Iowa schools are really coming for
24:42
Nebraska kids hard with uh you know Iowa
24:44
offering uh Brilan Warren in the 2027
24:46
class the Nebraska quarterback So Iowa
24:48
and Iowa State man doing work in the
24:50
state of Nebraska And we're trying to do
24:52
work in the state of Florida and Georgia
24:54
So I'm not too worried I know people
24:55
want to keep kids home but we we we've
24:58
definitely established our own
25:00
recruiting base down south And um it'll
25:03
be interesting to see how that unfolds
25:05
for sure
25:07
Yeah And uh CJ Brona I mean he's got
25:10
official visits with Florida State and
25:11
Florida I'm worried about him to be
25:13
honest with you Penn State too Yeah I am
25:15
worried about him too Um yeah he's going
25:17
to be a dynamic player so hopefully you
25:19
know they can hold on to that commitment
25:21
But um yeah that one I'm getting a
25:23
little worried about that one as well So
25:25
um you know we'll see how that kind of
25:28
plays out But three three uh commitments
25:31
right now Um all of them are set for
25:33
official visits I believe right now So
25:36
we'll see where it goes I feel like this
25:38
class is going to end up about 15 about
25:39
15 to 20 Um I'd be surprised if they got
25:42
over 20 just based on where their
25:44
numbers are So I think that's why you
25:46
haven't seen quite as many commitments
25:48
so far Yeah And you know they're they're
25:51
going the program is using the transfer
25:53
portal a lot too now So that's the way
25:56
of college football and Nebraska's been
25:58
very selective in the past couple
26:00
classes with you know high school
26:03
prospects and commitments and stuff like
26:05
that So it'll be interesting to see how
26:07
this class plays out Yeah it will be um
26:10
Dayton Raola kind of leading the way So
26:13
um I think it's going to be you know a
26:15
quality class but um you know lots of
26:17
lots of work still to do The spring game
26:19
coming up on Saturday or the you know I
26:22
guess the red white scrimmage whatever
26:23
you want to call it but um that'll be
26:25
kind of a wrap Spring game though Don't
26:27
call it Yeah don't call it But anyway we
26:29
will be back on Saturday um for our
26:32
Saturday morning chat So we'll be uh
26:34
talking about the not spring game We'll
26:36
talk about the NFL draft Uh maybe some
26:38
Chamar Brown Um it there is going to be
26:41
you know an interesting discussion like
26:42
players to watch So maybe we'll save
26:44
that for Saturday But I got a few that
26:46
I'm you know going to be looking out for
26:48
to see kind of how they perform Um so
26:50
yeah come join us Saturday morning If
26:52
you haven't already hit the like button
26:54
