Warnings Against Spiritual Immaturity Hebrews 5:11- 14
14 views
Feb 19, 2025
In our last 3 sessions, we looked at the supremacy of Jesus’ priesthood over the levitical priesthood. We focused on three specific functions of the former priests under Aaron’s order - ordination, compassion and sacrifices offered- and concluded that in all 3, Jesus far exceeded the levites because His priestly origin is after the order of Melchizedek. The writer wants to now go into details about this mysterious Melchizedek but before he does that, he issues a series of warning to his hearers who have become indifferent to the things of God. Today we’ll be looking at Hebrews 5:11-14 and discuss these warnings in more details.

hello good morning this is taiva
0:02
types.com
0:03
and welcome back to our study of the
0:05
book of hebrews today we're going to end
0:08
chapter 5
0:09
and the title of our study is warnings
0:12
against spiritual
0:14
e-maturity and let me get into the
0:17
introduction and then we're going to
0:18
talk about why is this so important so
0:21
in our last three sessions
0:23
we looked at the supremacy of jesus
0:26
priesthood over
0:28
the priesthood of the levite
0:30
the leviticus priesthood and we focused
0:32
on three specific functions of the
0:35
former priest under errands on order we
0:38
talked about the ordination we talk
0:40
about sympathy or compassion and we
0:43
talked about sacrifices offered and
0:45
we've concluded that in all three
0:47
categories jesus far exceeded the
0:50
levites because his priestly origin is
0:53
after the order of melchizedek and we
0:56
talked about melchizedek a little bit
0:58
now if you look at chapter five the
1:00
writer wanted to give more details about
1:02
melchizedek he's like a mysterious
1:04
figure in the old testament he appears
1:06
in the old testament twice
1:08
so he wanted to talk about it more
1:10
because this is where jesus derives his
1:13
uh uh ordination from so and but before
1:17
he does that he issues a strong warning
1:19
to his heroes because they've become so
1:21
indifferent to the things of god so
1:24
and this is what we want to talk about
1:26
today spiritually maturity there is
1:28
nothing fun about being spiritually
1:30
immature god does not find pleasure
1:33
in uh remaining at the child level when
1:35
it comes to the things of god so today
1:37
we're going to look at hebrews 5 verse
1:39
11 to 14 and we're going to discuss
1:42
these warnings in details so i'm going
1:44
to read the scripture first and then
1:46
we're going to try to unpack what it
1:48
means for us today because the warnings
1:50
are not just for the people that were
1:51
reading at the time is also for us today
1:55
so
1:56
let's get into the scripture
1:58
so let's see uh what the scripture says
2:00
here
2:03
let me get into uh
2:05
i had it in the esv i have it on the
2:07
nivea so i'm going to switch out to the
2:09
esv and then we're going to read that
2:10
all right so i apologize for that
2:13
that was my fault so let's get to it
2:17
so the scripture says about this
2:20
we have much to say
2:22
and it is hard to explain
2:25
since you have become dull of hearing
2:28
for though by this time you ought to be
2:30
teachers you need someone to teach you
2:33
again the basic principles of the
2:36
oracles of god
2:38
you need milk not solid food for
2:41
everyone who lives on milk is unskilled
2:44
in the world of righteousness since he
2:46
is a child
2:47
but solid food is for the mature for
2:50
those who have their powers of
2:51
discernment trained
2:53
by constant practice to distinguish good
2:57
from
2:58
evil and that's all the scripture we're
3:00
going to read today now this is the word
3:02
of god and i will invite you to go back
3:05
and read the entire chapter actually the
3:07
whole book of hebrews is incredible so
3:10
i'll encourage you to do that
3:11
so now let's run unpack all this here
3:14
so in verse 1 verse 11 we read on the
3:17
following about this
3:19
we have much to say
3:22
and it is hard to explain since you've
3:23
become dull of hearing
3:25
now the question we must ask ourselves
3:27
is about what
3:29
and uh
3:30
that what is melchizedek because the
3:33
writer has just talked about melchizedek
3:35
so he says i want to tell you more about
3:37
melchizedek but i can't tell you just
3:40
yet because
3:42
you've become dull of hearing and the
3:43
things that i'm about to say to you are
3:45
hard to explain
3:46
so he's saying listen
3:48
i have much more to tell you about jesus
3:50
and his priestly origin that is derived
3:53
from the order of melchizedek
3:55
but i am reluctant to do so because some
3:57
of the some of the details about
3:59
melchizedek
4:00
require a certain level of um
4:03
knowledge and understanding
4:05
and all your cerebral attention okay
4:08
what he's saying unfortunately
4:10
i have to say this to you you've become
4:12
dull of hearing and the expression doll
4:15
of hearing uh carries with uh the
4:17
following baggage a slow to think or
4:20
understand stupid
4:22
lacking in interest
4:24
lacking in perception or the ability to
4:26
respond to being like almost insensitive
4:30
basically it is the state of
4:33
being pretty much apathetic towards on
4:36
the things of god and we saw in chapter
4:39
three
4:40
how the people of israel they were not
4:42
interested in cultivating or intimacy
4:44
with god and we're going to go to exodus
4:47
20 and 18 to 21 because it summarizes
4:50
the people's heart and attitude because
4:52
listen to what exodus 2 20 18 to 21
4:55
tells us when the people saw the thunder
4:58
and lightning and heard the trumpet and
5:00
saw the mountain in smoke they trembled
5:03
with fear they stayed at a distance and
5:07
said to moses speaks to us yourself and
5:10
we will listen but do not have god speak
5:13
to us or we will die and moses say to
5:16
the people do not be afraid
5:18
god has come to test you
5:20
so that the fear of god will be with you
5:23
to keep you from sinning
5:25
the people remained at a distance while
5:27
moses approached the thick
5:30
darkness where god was now you see they
5:32
remained at a distance they were not
5:35
interested
5:36
in having an intimate relationship with
5:38
god
5:39
and that's what happened when you're a
5:41
child and you want to remain at the
5:43
stage of an infant
5:44
that distance is there like moses saw
5:47
the darkness moses saw everything the
5:49
people saw but moses went because moses
5:51
had an intimate relationship with god
5:54
and this is how we grow you're not
5:56
intimate with god you're not going to
5:58
grow in your christian work
6:00
and this is the warning uh we have we
6:02
are being issued here in the book of um
6:04
hebrews in chapter five so the people
6:07
had a very shallow view of god because
6:09
they didn't draw near the god
6:11
so the writer makes the same observation
6:13
about the people he's talking to
6:15
because he's saying you've become dull
6:17
of hearing you've become insensitive
6:19
insensitive to the things of god okay he
6:22
no longer stirred their heart and that
6:24
can happen to all of us
6:26
and because we say that faith comes by
6:28
hearing and hearing by the word of god
6:30
so
6:31
in an assembly let's say you go to
6:32
church on any given sunday
6:35
two people can be hearing the same
6:36
message okay
6:38
and two those two people can have
6:40
different responses
6:41
one may be driven to repentance
6:43
adoration and worship
6:45
and the other may just be so bored and
6:47
completely indifferent to to the things
6:49
of god and this is pretty much a result
6:52
of being dull of hearing
6:53
because it's like that has come to its
6:55
speak in the sense that you no longer
6:57
care about the things of god because
6:59
they don't stir your heart anymore and
7:01
that's what paul is saying to the people
7:03
here i say paul
7:04
i i'm not trying to say that paul wrote
7:06
hebrews but i for some reason i just say
7:08
that anyway
7:10
the writer is saying that it's hard to
7:12
explain these things to you about
7:13
melchizedek because you've become dull
7:16
of hearing because you've drifted away
7:18
from the word of god if you look in
7:20
chapter 2 he said do not drift away from
7:23
the word of god because what happens is
7:25
when we hear the word of god and we
7:27
don't pay attention
7:28
slowly but surely we begin to drift away
7:30
and that distance
7:32
gets
7:33
uh wider and wider and wider the gap
7:35
gets wider and wider you see with the
7:37
people of israel they say to moses you
7:39
go speak to god and you tell us what he
7:41
says and we will do what he said
7:43
they didn't want to get to know god they
7:45
didn't want to create an intimacy they
7:46
didn't want that intimacy with god they
7:48
just wanted someone to tell them
7:49
something and then they were satisfied
7:51
with it and that happens today in our
7:53
churches
7:54
some people have a tendency to say i'm
7:57
no pastor
7:58
that's for pastors no
8:00
all of us as believers are supposed to
8:02
know the things of god we are supposed
8:04
to be
8:05
wanting to know god more we are supposed
8:06
to grow in an intimate relationship with
8:08
god okay it's not just a pastor and some
8:10
people are satisfied with second-hand uh
8:14
preaching or second-hand
8:16
listening of the word of god which is
8:18
basically
8:19
you pastor you read the word of god and
8:22
interpret it for me i don't want to get
8:24
to know god by reading his word and a
8:26
lot of people do that you're comfortable
8:27
with going to to church on sunday every
8:30
sunday you just listen to the word of
8:32
god and then you go home and do whatever
8:34
you've done you want to do from monday
8:36
through saturday you don't open the word
8:38
of god you don't get to know god
8:39
yourself that is this is not pleasing to
8:42
god he wants us to grow in our knowledge
8:45
okay and jesus himself he gives us a
8:47
strong warning
8:48
about this condition in the parable of
8:50
the soils we will look at that next week
8:52
but today i just want to say there is
8:54
nothing
8:55
fun about being a passive believer
8:58
that is not pleasing to god
9:00
because you become dull of hearing in
9:02
the sense that
9:04
the word of god no longer stirs your
9:06
heart and that's a dangerous place to be
9:08
and the writer is issuing a warning
9:09
about it he's saying listen the reason
9:11
why you're not interested in like
9:13
doctrines and stuff like that it's not
9:15
because you're a simple christian or
9:17
whatever you just want to be you because
9:18
some people say this all the time
9:20
i just love jesus i'm not interested in
9:22
doctrines i don't want to know doctrines
9:24
because doctrines divide
9:26
that's a statement of someone that's
9:28
lazy
9:30
because if you are truly
9:33
truly truly willing and seeking to know
9:35
god those things will also be appealing
9:38
to you because you want to know more
9:39
about his doctrines you want to know
9:41
more about what place is god there's
9:43
nothing fun about being at the level of
9:45
a baby
9:47
after being a christian for several
9:48
years and we're gonna see that as we
9:50
read verse 12 and 13 so let's go to the
9:51
next uh verses
9:53
listen to what he says in verse 12 and
9:55
13
9:56
for though by this time you ought to be
9:58
teachers you need someone to teach you
10:00
again
10:01
the basic principles of the oracles of
10:04
god
10:05
you need milk not solid food for
10:08
everyone who lives on milk is unskilled
10:10
in the world of righteousness since he
10:12
is a child
10:14
so now he's going to give the reasons
10:17
why he made the previous statement about
10:19
his readers being
10:21
thought of hearing he's saying based on
10:22
verse 12
10:24
we can make
10:25
the following inferences
10:27
these readers were probably
10:29
like
10:30
not recent convert they had been saved
10:32
for several years
10:34
okay they weren't just new congress
10:35
because paul says here again i said paul
10:38
the writer says here
10:39
uh
10:40
which is funny he says by this time you
10:42
ought to be teachers by this time you
10:45
ought to be teachers which means he's
10:46
not addressing
10:48
people i just got saved like maybe one
10:50
month ago or two months ago or even six
10:51
months ago he's talking about people
10:53
that have been in the church for many
10:55
many years so it's not recent converts
10:59
okay but unfortunately
11:01
they never grew in their salvation they
11:04
remained at the stage of an infant in
11:05
christ and then when the writer says you
11:08
ought to be teachers we need to know
11:10
what he means like what's the
11:11
implication of being a teacher
11:13
now this evening everybody has to teach
11:15
a sunday school that's not what he's
11:16
trying to say here okay
11:18
what he's saying is like at this point
11:21
in your life in your christian life you
11:23
have to become almost a seasoned
11:25
believer okay able able to instruct and
11:28
help like new converts okay that's what
11:30
he's trying to communicate here but that
11:32
wasn't the case
11:33
the word teacher here means one was
11:36
fitted to teach
11:37
one experienced in the things of god so
11:40
he's basically telling his people listen
11:43
you guys at this time you have to be
11:45
like you ought to be seasoned believers
11:47
experiencing the things of god okay but
11:50
that's not the case with you you're
11:51
still at the stage of an infant
11:53
okay
11:54
but those uh he was talking to
11:57
they were not even acquainted with the
11:59
basic principles of the oracles of god
12:02
okay and then we're going to talk about
12:03
those basic principles he makes a
12:05
mention of them in hebrews 6 verse 1 to
12:08
2. i'm going to briefly mention those
12:10
but our next week we're going to talk
12:12
more deeply about those things because
12:13
if you go to hebrews 6 verse 1 to 2
12:15
listen to what the writer says
12:18
therefore
12:19
let us move beyond the elementary
12:20
teachings about christ
12:22
and be taken forward to maturity not
12:24
laying again the foundation of
12:26
repentance from acts that lead to death
12:29
and of faith in god instruction about
12:31
cleansing rights the laying on of reigns
12:34
the resurrection of the dead and eternal
12:36
judgment so according to the writer
12:38
those are the foundational uh pieces
12:41
about knowing about jesus these are like
12:43
every believer at that point should know
12:46
about all these things every seasoned
12:48
believer should know about all these
12:49
basic principles of the oracles of god
12:52
he's saying at this time you should know
12:53
this by now but you need me again to
12:55
teach you these things because you've
12:57
never grown in your salvation
12:59
and that's because
13:01
they never matured and they were still
13:03
inexperienced and they were still
13:04
ignorant and due to
13:06
their lack of practice okay practice in
13:08
the sense that they they weren't
13:09
acquainted they didn't get into the word
13:11
of god they didn't really for themselves
13:13
they didn't get to know god
13:15
if you look at stephen the first martyr
13:18
st stephen was uh he was serving table a
13:21
deacon but when he was talking to his
13:23
opponent
13:24
he gave them the whole history of the
13:27
jewish nation from abraham all the way
13:29
to where they were because he was
13:31
acquainted with the with the word of god
13:32
he was someone that was invested
13:35
and stephen wasn't a pastor stephen
13:37
wasn't one of the elders in there he was
13:39
a deacon but see how much he knew and it
13:42
wasn't knowledge to show off to be
13:44
puffed up he knew because he was being
13:46
transformed by those things and this is
13:48
why when he called out his opponent they
13:50
wanted to kill him because they knew
13:51
that he was talking the things that he
13:53
was saying were true
13:55
okay and paul makes the same observation
13:57
about the corinthian church if you go to
13:59
first corinthians 3 verse 1 to 4 listen
14:02
to what paul says here
14:03
brothers and sisters i could not address
14:06
you as people who live by the spirit but
14:08
as people who are still worldly mere
14:11
infants in christ i gave you milk
14:14
not solid food for you were not ready
14:16
for it indeed you are still not ready
14:19
you are still worldly for since there is
14:21
jealousy and quarreling among you are
14:23
you not worldly are you not acting like
14:26
mere humans for when one says i follow
14:28
paul and another awful apollos are you
14:31
know mere human beings so basically paul
14:33
is making a similar observation
14:36
uh in first corinthians three verse one
14:38
through four people were still acting
14:40
crazy in the church they were fighting
14:42
over like
14:43
pretty silly stuff and he's saying
14:45
you're still acting like an infant in
14:47
christ you haven't grown in your
14:48
salvation this is why you still need
14:50
milk because you need to know that these
14:51
things are not fitting
14:53
for a person that has been a seasoned
14:55
believer
14:56
and this is the same thing that we read
14:58
in verses 12 and 13 there is nothing fun
15:01
about being spiritually immature god is
15:03
not pleased with with it okay now there
15:06
is nothing wrong with being a baby in
15:08
christ because as a matter of fact we
15:10
all start from that baby stage okay baby
15:13
is not born in all of a sudden he knows
15:15
how to walk talk and do everything now
15:17
there's growing stages
15:19
but those people that the scripture is
15:21
talking about here they have been
15:22
seasoned okay
15:24
and the exhortation we received from
15:26
first peter 2 verse 1 to 2 about this i
15:28
want to read that to you this is what
15:30
first peter says here
15:31
therefore
15:33
read yourself of all malice and all
15:34
deceit hypocrisy envy and slander of
15:37
every kind every kind like newborn
15:40
babies crave
15:42
spiritual pure milk so that by it you
15:44
may grow up in your salvation in the
15:46
beginning of your salvation
15:48
you crave those basic principles the
15:50
milk okay this is the basic principle
15:52
you want to know about god you want to
15:53
know about
15:54
what it means to be saved and then as
15:56
you grow you grow deeper and deeper you
15:59
sin less
16:00
because at that stage you want to know
16:02
about god okay so there's no so there's
16:05
no excuse for remaining at the stage of
16:07
a baby after several years of being a
16:09
convert there's nothing great about
16:12
being a christian for 20 years and still
16:14
not knowing the basic principles of the
16:16
oracles of god and this is what the
16:18
scripture tells us i actually want to go
16:20
to second peter 2 verse
16:22
chapter 1 verse 3 to 15
16:24
because if you want to avoid this
16:26
condition there's a remedy for it listen
16:28
to what peter says
16:30
in second period 1
16:32
verse 3 to 15. listen
16:34
his divine power has given us everything
16:37
we need
16:38
for a godly life through our knowledge
16:40
of him who called us by his own glory
16:42
and goodness
16:44
through these he has given us his very
16:46
great and precious promises so that
16:48
through them you may participate in the
16:50
divine nature having escaped the
16:53
corruption in the world caused by evil
16:55
desires
16:57
for this very reason make every effort
17:00
to add to your faith goodness and to
17:02
goodness knowledge and to knowledge
17:04
self-control and to self-control
17:06
perseverance
17:07
and to perseverance godliness and to
17:09
godliness mutual affection into mutual
17:12
affection love for if you possess these
17:15
qualities in increasing measure they
17:17
will keep you from being
17:19
ineffective and unproductive in your
17:22
knowledge of our lord jesus christ but
17:24
whoever does not have them is
17:26
nearsighted and blind forgetting that
17:28
they've been claimed from their past
17:30
sins
17:31
therefore my brothers and sisters make
17:34
every effort to confirm your calling and
17:37
election for if you do these things
17:39
you will never stumble and you receive a
17:41
rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of
17:43
our lord and savior jesus christ so i
17:46
will always remind you of these things
17:48
even though you know them and are firmly
17:50
established in the truth you now have
17:53
i think it is right to refresh your
17:55
memory as long as i live in the tent of
17:57
his body
17:58
because i know that i will soon put it
18:00
aside as our lord jesus christ has made
18:03
it clear to me
18:04
and i will make every effort to see that
18:06
after my departure you will always be
18:08
able to remember these things so you can
18:10
see that even peter agrees with this
18:12
verse he's saying there's nothing
18:14
great about being spiritually immature
18:16
because we are we are taught to grow in
18:19
our salvation to add to faith goodness
18:21
and to goodness self-control and to
18:22
self-control knowledge and wisdom all
18:24
these things are elements of a christian
18:26
that is growing we have to grow in our
18:28
salvation
18:30
let's say you see a baby
18:32
that was born maybe in 19 let's say you
18:35
you you
18:36
your one of your family member has a
18:38
baby and then after two years
18:41
or three four five years that baby
18:44
is still
18:45
not talking
18:46
i mean obviously there's things that get
18:47
that happen but it's not normal okay so
18:50
in the same sense as a christian there
18:52
is nothing normal about being a baby and
18:55
remain in the babies that you have to
18:56
grow in your salvation you have to know
18:58
uh god more and that knowledge transform
19:02
you the knowledge not for you to get
19:03
puffed up or the knowledge is so that
19:05
the more you know god the more you are
19:07
transforming the more you are being
19:09
transformed in the image of the son
19:11
jesus christ so that's the whole um
19:13
point
19:14
well listen to what he says in verse 14
19:17
but solid food is for the mature for
19:19
those who have their powers of
19:20
discernment trained by constant practice
19:24
to distinguish good from evil now listen
19:28
to what the writer says in verse 14
19:30
he contrasts spiritual milk to spiritual
19:33
solid food
19:34
the milk is for the immature the
19:36
unlearned and those who that are still
19:38
at the stage of an infant
19:40
but solid food in the spiritual sense is
19:42
for those who are growing in their
19:44
salvation
19:46
and the writer shows us shows why they
19:48
are allowed to feed on solid food
19:50
because they have their powers of
19:53
discernment trained by constant practice
19:56
to distinguish good from evil see powers
19:59
of discernment means the faculty of the
20:02
mind to perceive and to understand okay
20:05
to judge
20:06
the faculty of the mind to perceive to
20:09
understand and to make good judgment so
20:13
a scripture tells us that the fear of
20:14
the lord is the beginning of wisdom
20:17
if you read if you go to phil on james 1
20:20
verse 19 to 21 listen to why he says
20:23
know this my beloved brothers let
20:25
everyone be quick to hear hear what hear
20:28
the word of god and slowly speak and
20:30
slow to anger meaning instead of voicing
20:32
your opinion
20:34
against the word of god receive it with
20:36
grace that's what james is telling us
20:39
everyone should be what slow to speak
20:41
and quick
20:42
to listen and slow to anger
20:44
for the anger of man does not produce
20:46
the righteousness that god desires
20:48
because
20:50
when you hear the word of god and you
20:52
begin to form your opinion say well i
20:53
don't agree with it well that's just
20:56
what the bible says i don't have to
20:58
agree with it
20:59
you are hardening your heart and you
21:01
become you you slowly become dull of
21:03
hearing because the more you hear it the
21:05
less
21:06
it changes your book the scripture tells
21:08
us here
21:09
everybody should be what quick to hear
21:13
quick to hear when we hear the word of
21:15
god and he slices you
21:17
obey the word of god
21:19
obey what you because
21:21
the scripture tells us do not be
21:23
listeners and deceive yourself but do
21:25
what he says
21:27
if you listen and he does nothing for
21:28
you don't even listen because you're
21:30
wasting your time
21:31
if you're not going to listen and do
21:33
what the scripture says then don't don't
21:35
even bother listening to it
21:37
because the scripture is meant to what
21:39
to train around to righteousness that's
21:41
the whole point
21:43
okay
21:44
so by constantly practicing the word of
21:47
god
21:48
it gives you the ability
21:50
to make good judgment to distinguish
21:52
good from evil
21:53
that's why we read the word of god to be
21:55
transformed so that we can think like
21:57
god we begin to have our knowledge and
22:00
our faculty of thinking changing and
22:03
changed by the word of god
22:05
that's why we practice the word of god
22:07
because solid food is for the mature
22:09
that's what the scriptures tell us for
22:11
those who have their powers of
22:12
discernment trained if you remain on the
22:14
infant stage
22:16
you're not gonna learn anything you're
22:18
gonna continue to be there after years
22:20
after years you keep on reading it it
22:22
doesn't do anything for you because at
22:23
that point you begin to just put your
22:25
your bible on the side you don't even
22:27
read it anymore because
22:28
it means nothing for you you become dull
22:31
of hearing and we you want to avoid that
22:33
at all cost
22:34
and this is what we are told here
22:37
so this is why we have to have our parts
22:39
of discernment trained by constant
22:41
practice of to distinguish good from
22:43
evil so we ought to be doers of the word
22:45
of god not just hearers of it
22:47
our sanctification must lead us to sin
22:50
less
22:52
and desire god more that's the whole
22:54
point to sin less
22:56
because we are being renewed in order to
22:58
to look in every way like jesus christ
23:01
so god is confirming us the image of his
23:03
son so there is no place in the
23:05
christian
23:07
for immaturity there is no place for
23:09
that
23:10
so
23:11
basically
23:13
god
23:14
as we see in hebrews chapter 5 verse 11
23:16
to 14 does not delight
23:18
in spiritual immaturity it does not
23:20
please god because it shows that we are
23:22
not interesting in the things of god it
23:24
shows that when we stay at the baby
23:26
stage after years of years of being a
23:28
christian that's a bad sign for us
23:31
because if you if you've been a
23:33
christian for four or five years and you
23:34
still uh um
23:37
you're still at a baby stage and that
23:39
babysitter could be characterized as
23:40
what
23:42
do you do you like the things of god do
23:44
you get bored at church during the
23:45
sermon how often do you read your bible
23:47
and let the words you read like
23:49
transform you and inform your daily
23:51
decisions do you gloat over sins and are
23:54
insensitive to sin around you are you
23:55
insensitive to sin around you do you
23:57
gloat over i mean do you hey how do you
23:59
like the things of god i do get bored
24:02
when you read your bible
24:03
your answers to this question will
24:05
pretty much give you a summary of where
24:07
you stand before god if you're an infant
24:09
in in need of milk or a mature believer
24:11
in need of more solid food now again
24:13
this is not an occasion for pride
24:16
or for saying well i'm i'm i'm a mature
24:18
christian now you can know scriptures
24:20
all day but if they don't transform you
24:23
you're still as bad as someone who does
24:25
not know the scripture and still at the
24:26
baby stage actually it's worse to know
24:29
the scripture and to not be changed by
24:31
it that's even worse than actually to
24:33
not know the scripture okay but either
24:35
one is bad because as believers
24:38
the goal is to be transformed every day
24:41
to be to be made new every day so that
24:43
we look like jesus
24:45
so there is no place for immaturity and
24:47
and then in in chapter six we're going
24:49
to see why on the right is telling us
24:52
about being spiritually immature because
24:54
that condition causes people
24:57
to to shut themselves away from the
24:58
grace of god and we are going to see
25:00
that next week all right have a
25:03
wonderful day and i'll see you next week
25:05
thank you
