I was once again reading Hebrews 11, the chapter that explains what faith is. And this time, the story of Abel and Cain caught my attention. The question that I contemplated was this? Why did the Lord have no regard for Cain ‘s offering ( why was the Lord not pleased with Cain’s offering ). From Scripture we understand that without faith it’s impossible to please God - so we can deduct from this verse that Cain’s offering wasn’t offered in faith.. let’s first find some other New Testament Scriptures to unload this. Be sure to watch the video below in its entirety

hello good morning this is ty EEB from
0:02
tabes calm or our psychics calm and
0:05
today we're gonna talk about on the gift
0:07
offered in faith we're gonna look over
0:11
Cain and Abel offerings in is recorded
0:13
in Genesis on chapter 4 we're just gonna
0:16
talk about on the beginning part of it
0:18
and that's what we're gonna be covering
0:21
today so before I get into it let me go
0:25
to my presentation and now give you a
0:27
quick background what led me to talk
0:29
about this now again I was reading
0:34
Hebrews 11 and Hebrews 11 talks about
0:37
and explaining what faith is
0:39
and this time the story of Abel and Cain
0:42
caught my attention like the question
0:45
that I was contemplating was why did the
0:48
Lord have no regard for Cain's offering
0:50
why was the Lord not pleased with Cain's
0:52
offering and that's back in Genesis
0:55
chapter 4 so that's what caught my
0:57
attention and from Scripture we
1:00
understand that without faith it's
1:02
impossible to please God so we can make
1:05
some inference from this verse and we
1:07
can say that Cain's offering wasn't
1:09
offered in faith so now we're gonna try
1:12
and find some New Testament Scriptures
1:14
to unload this whole chapter now again
1:17
we're gonna stop start before Hebrews
1:20
11:4 he says by faith Abel offered to
1:24
God a more acceptable sacrifice than
1:26
Cain through which he was commanded as
1:29
righteous God commanding him by
1:32
accepting his gifts and through his
1:34
faith though he died he still fixed and
1:36
his first John 3:12 we are told we
1:40
should not be like Cain who was of the
1:43
evil one and murdered his brother
1:45
and why did he murder him because his
1:47
own deeds were evil and his brothers
1:48
righteous his brother mean are able so
1:52
now we have some scriptures on the New
1:54
Testament so what can we infer from all
1:57
these scriptures so let's go back to
2:00
Genesis 4 but before we do that we need
2:03
to understand that God rejected Cain's
2:05
offering because according to scriptures
2:07
his deeds were evil and we need to know
2:10
what deeds
2:11
what did Cain do
2:13
so we will go back to Genesis 4 and we
2:15
would all look at what a candida was
2:19
wrong in the eyes of God now scripture
2:22
says in Genesis 4 now Abel was a keeper
2:25
of sheep and Cain a worker of the ground
2:28
in the course of time Cain brought to
2:31
the Lord an offering of the fruit of the
2:33
ground and Abel also brought of the
2:35
firstborn of his flock and of their fat
2:37
portions and the Lord had regard for
2:40
Abel and his offering but for Cain and
2:42
his offering he had no regard so Cain
2:45
was very angry and his face fell and the
2:47
Lord said to Cain why are you angry and
2:50
why has your face fallen if you do well
2:53
will you not be accepted if you do not
2:55
do well sin is crouching at your door
2:57
his desire is contrary to you but you
3:00
must rule over it and scripture says in
3:03
verse 8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother
3:05
and when they were in the field
3:06
Kenan rose up against his brother Abel
3:09
and killed him this is the first murder
3:11
that occurred in scripture you know this
3:14
is right after a fall boom it didn't
3:16
even take like several generations right
3:19
then after that Cain kills his own
3:20
brother same same mom same dad and we're
3:24
gonna find out why he did that
3:25
now scripture says in the course of time
3:28
Cain brought to the Lord
3:29
an offering of the fruit or a crowd now
3:32
the first thing that I noticed is this
3:34
first he tried to win God's favor by
3:38
going to God before his own brother
3:39
AVO so Cain quickly went to God before
3:42
Abel because that's what scripture says
3:43
there's an order Cain went before Abel
3:46
so he tried to win God's favor say look
3:49
what I've done
3:49
look what I've brought to you well
3:52
scriptures say but for Cain and his
3:54
offering God had no regard so Cain was
3:57
very angry and his face fell the Lord
4:00
said to Cain why are you angry and why
4:02
has your face fallen if you do well will
4:04
you not be accepted and if you do not do
4:06
well sin is crouching at your door it's
4:08
desires contrary to you but you must
4:10
rule over it so we can infer from these
4:13
scriptures that Cain was angry with God
4:15
and the thing is this no one can contend
4:19
with God and be right I mean God is
4:21
always right because he is the absolute
4:23
standard for righteousness
4:24
so Cain was angry
4:27
cause God rejected his offerings and God
4:30
has every right to reject my offering
4:33
and Cain's offerings because God had
4:35
prescribed a specific offering that Cain
4:38
did not respect now people say well God
4:42
never said in 10 year he did because God
4:43
is not is not arbitrary God gave a
4:47
specific prescription he says and it
4:50
prescribed
4:51
offering was the fat portions of the
4:52
first one flock a Cain did not want to
4:56
bring that which God has asked him to do
4:59
he didn't do that he brought his own
5:01
offerings he did not bring what God has
5:03
prepared prescribed and why did Cain
5:07
want to do that we need to figure out
5:09
why because he would have required Cain
5:12
to ask Abel for it and he did not want
5:14
to ask Abel because he was jealous of
5:16
his brother Abel and why do I know that
5:20
scripture say doc Cain finally spoke to
5:23
Abel and that reveals that he wasn't in
5:26
speaking terms with Abel the French
5:28
translation captures it best and I'm
5:30
gonna show you the French translation
5:32
real quick because seeing Frenchie says
5:36
ship on de cane address Allah powerless
5:38
on Freya Abel meaning finally Cain spoke
5:43
to his brother the Iranian speaking
5:46
terms meaning Cain wasn't talking to
5:48
Abel and we know why because he was
5:50
jealous of him he knew that for me to
5:53
please God I have to ask my brother Abel
5:56
for a sheep I keep off the ship because
5:58
that's what God has prescribed but Cain
6:01
did not want to do that because he would
6:02
have required him to speak to Abel and
6:05
he was not on speaking terms so he
6:07
decided to bring his own offerings which
6:09
is the fruit of the ground so and God
6:12
rejected him because God said you need
6:15
to go ask your brother you need to go
6:17
ask your brother because that's the only
6:18
way I'm gonna accept his offering and he
6:20
came did not want to do that so the
6:22
thing is this this is not just the story
6:24
that's randomly placed in the scripture
6:26
for us there are strong implications and
6:28
this is what we need to understand let's
6:31
go today the story was given to us to
6:34
remind us about the only Son of God
6:36
Jesus God has prescribed the prove each
6:40
for mankind salvation and that is only
6:43
through Jesus Christ but folks in this
6:46
day and in back then reject this offer
6:49
and just like Cain they want to please
6:52
God on their own terms and just like God
6:55
rejected Cain's offering God reject
6:58
man's ration righteousness and calls it
7:01
filthy as filthy rags we can read Romans
7:04
three nine to eleven to understand
7:05
certain things here let's do that real
7:07
quick he says in Romans three verse 9 to
7:11
11 what then are we Jews any better off
7:14
no not at all for we have already
7:17
charged at all who Jews and Greeks are
7:20
under sin and as it is written there is
7:23
none righteous not not one no one
7:27
understands and no one seeks God that's
7:31
one thing the next thing is this
7:34
therefore whoever relaxes one of these
7:37
lists of his commandment and teaches
7:39
others to do the same will be called
7:41
least in the kingdom of heaven but
7:43
whoever does them and teaches them will
7:45
be called great in the kingdom of heaven
7:47
for I tell you unless your righteousness
7:51
exceeds that of the scribes and the
7:54
Pharisees you will never enter the
7:57
kingdom of heaven God is telling us
8:01
through Jesus Christ that the
8:03
righteousness that he requires is
8:05
something that man cannot attain and the
8:09
only way to be righteous with God is to
8:10
accept the offer of righteousness
8:13
through Jesus Christ the same way we've
8:16
can enable the only way God was gonna
8:19
accept Cain's offering if he's is if he
8:21
went through Abel and Cain did not want
8:24
to do that in the same way people don't
8:26
want to go through Jesus Christ they
8:28
want to please God on their own terms
8:30
and they want to say to God just like
8:31
him look what I've brought to you look
8:34
what I've done for you look what I said
8:36
about you look at all these things with
8:39
all these other religious practices and
8:41
God said I won't have it because my
8:44
righteousness is the righteousness that
8:46
cannot be attained by your filthy works
8:49
of righteousness it's only through Jesus
8:51
Christ's blood the redemptive work of
8:53
God in Jesus
8:54
and when many people reject that and
8:57
just like pain
8:58
they rejected they don't want to speak
9:00
about Jesus they don't want to accept it
9:02
and just like that they caught himself
9:04
away from the only salvation that God
9:06
offers so scriptures say without faith
9:11
it's impossible to please God and faith
9:13
comes by hearing and hearing by the Word
9:16
of God
9:17
so without God we can't please God
9:20
meaning without Jesus we can't please
9:23
God in the same way can cannot please
9:26
God without bringing the Sheep they
9:30
prescribed offering and the whole world
9:33
stands confused at this very truth and
9:36
primarily because we always want to do
9:38
things in our own strength so we can
9:40
take credit for it
9:41
but God won't have it salvation and
9:45
acceptance by God is by faith so that no
9:50
one can boast so is exist by the grace
9:53
of God through faith God gives the grace
9:55
God gives the faith he is the one that
9:58
gives the faith for us to believe so
10:00
without God it's impossible to please
10:02
God in the same way Cain could not
10:06
praise God on his own terms he had to
10:07
please God on God's crimes and he didn't
10:09
want to do that because he required him
10:11
to speak to Abel and he did not in the
10:13
same way today we can't praise God
10:16
without Jesus we have to ask our brother
10:18
Jesus say Lord Jesus through you may I
10:22
be accepted by the Father and that's the
10:24
only way we can receive an acceptance
10:27
before God but people don't like to hear
10:29
it because they want to please God on
10:31
their own terms
10:32
they want to come on their own terms you
10:34
understand these stories there for that
10:36
reason and I hope I'm not sure if I've
10:38
explained it right but I hope you take
10:40
your time to go back and read this again
10:42
and again alright my prayer is that you
10:44
really take the time to to dig into the
10:46
scriptures and understand what God is
10:48
finally revealed through His Holy Spirit
10:50
again I have a blessed day
10:52
and I'll see you next thank you
