A family who kept finding eggs in their son's bed but didn't know why then discovered their beloved hen's escape route from her home outside and through their house. Lacy Pryde, 44, from El Dorado County, California, said she and her family kept discovering eggs in her 17-year-old son Uriah's bed, but they didn't know why. Initially, Lacy said, Uriah thought his mom was playing a prank on him, but when that myth was dispelled, she happened to one day come across one of their hens, Lola, standing in the hallway of their home. Lacy and Uriah – who have a farm of cats, dogs, sheep, alpacas, pigs and chickens, which they keep purely as pets – decided that Lola, a Turken, must have been the culprit, but they couldn't work out how she kept getting inside. Then, one day, Lacy decided to set her camera to record and started following Lola from outside and on one of her journeys. The determined hen made her way through a cat flap, across the family's cattery and laundry room, and then into the house. From there, Lola walked through the kitchen, hopped over an animal gate to stop dogs, and down a hallway into Uriah's room. There, the two-year-old hen hopped onto Uriah's bed, where, sure enough, she laid an egg on a blanket that had been put down.
