Sushi Rice Recipe
Sushi Rice Recipe 🍣 Ingredients: 2 cups sushi rice (short-grain Japanese rice) 2 cups water, plus extra for rinsing the rice 1/4 cup rice vinegar 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon salt Instructions: Rinse the Rice: Place the sushi rice in a fine-mesh sieve or colander and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch. Cook the Rice: In a rice cooker or a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 2 cups of water. Cook the rice according to your rice cooker's instructions or bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Prepare the Seasoning: While the rice is cooking, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar and salt dissolve. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Season the Rice: Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large mixing bowl or a shallow dish. Gradually add the seasoned vinegar mixture to the rice, using a spatula or rice paddle to gently fold and mix the rice. Be careful not to smash the rice grains. Continue mixing until the rice is well coated and slightly sticky. Cool the Rice: Allow the seasoned sushi rice to cool to room temperature before using it to make sushi rolls or nigiri.
