Smash Burger Recipe 🌹 Ingredients: 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend) Salt and black pepper, to taste 4 burger buns 4 slices cheddar cheese 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo Instructions: Preheat the Griddle: Heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until very hot, about 5 minutes. Add a small amount of vegetable oil and spread it evenly. Form the Meat Balls: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form into loose balls. Do not overwork the meat. Smash the Burgers: Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet. Immediately press down on each ball with a sturdy spatula to flatten it into a thin patty. Use another spatula or a heavy object to press down if needed. The patties should be about 1/4 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper. Cook the Patties: Let the patties cook without moving them for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are brown and crispy. Flip the patties, then place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked through.
