Creme Brulee Recipe 🍮🔥
Ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped out (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
5 large egg yolks
1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus extra for caramelizing
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place oven rack in the middle position. Prepare a baking dish large enough to hold 4-6 ramekins or shallow oven-proof dishes.
Prepare the Custard:
In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream and vanilla bean (both the seeds and the pod). Heat over medium heat until the mixture just starts to simmer. Remove from heat and let it sit for about 15 minutes to infuse the vanilla flavor.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until well combined and slightly thickened.
Gradually pour the warm cream mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly, to temper the eggs. Continue whisking until smooth.
Strain the Mixture:
Strain the custard mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl to remove the vanilla bean pod and any potential bits of cooked egg.
