Golf Stand Bag Review

This is our biggest stand bag test of day. Over 15 models on test, so whatever bag you're looking

for, I've got you covered today. We'll chat about all the ones you can see here and some others. Let's get started

Right then, back in the studio and there are loads of bags on test, as I just mentioned. If you like

the look of any of the ones you see in this video, I'll put some handy links down in the description

where you can find the best price for each bag in your area. So, five categories today I'm going

we're looking at and I'm going to crown an overall winner. Those categories are best lightweight, best waterproof, best value, best sundae slash pencil bag, excited for that, and then best

looking, best vinyl bag, which is another emerging category I'm excited to talk about today

We're going to start with best lightweight because whenever my friends or colleagues ask

what's the best bag, they often want to know which is the best lightweight bag. I think this

is a really important category for a lot of golfers. A few ones I want to highlight before I give you

my category winner. Firstly, is the Vessel Sunday 3. This comes in at two and a half kilos, which is

pretty lightweight for a bag of that quality with that kind of materialing on it. And that does fit

14 clubs. There are some really lightweight ones like here, the Sunday Golf Loma XL, 1.4 kilos

So super, super lightweight, but it's a Sunday bag, so it doesn't carry a full set. So I'm going

to talk more about that a little later. One from last year, which is worth a shout out, is the

wilson exo light stand bag this is 1.8 kilo so really really lightweight it's got a four-way

divider some magnetic pockets which just add to the overall appeal of the bag and it also had a

really large uh water bottle pocket which i'm something i'm always looking out for on stand

bag so that's a good example from last year but two examples of new bags from this year

firstly the sun mountain h2 no light speed uh newly updated 2024 two kilos uh carries a full

set of 14 and this is feature packed, huge cooler pocket, a really big valuables pocket as well and a

four-way divider that can easily carry that set of 14. And at 1.4 kilos it's the tailor-made

FlexTech Super Light and when you put Super Light on a bag name it needs to be Super Light and this

really is. It carries the full set of 14, it's got a waterproof valuables pocket, full-length

apparel pocket as well as two pockets at the front for balls, tees, rangefinders, whatever the heck

you want to put in the front of that bag. But at 1.4 kilos, to be this comfortable

and to carry everything that it does is an absolute standout in this category

and easily the winner for best lightweight stand bag. Okay, for my second category

we're going to focus in on the best waterproof stand bags. Now, another key factor for a lot of people

when buying a stand bag who play in Incluent Weather. So I'm going to look at some of my favorites and then crown my winner

Firstly, I want to mention this. It's the Motocaddy Hydroflex. Brand new in 2023

It was given an update. But a great hybrid bag. It's a stand bag and a cart bag

I've taken the straps off here. I mostly use it as a cart bag. But it's really well proportioned

It's got that easy lock base on the bottom. So if you are using it on a trolley

it will slot in there without the need for the bungee strap. And it's fully waterproof

which is why I'm giving it a shout out in this section. It's a real all-rounder for all year

Because if you carry or use it on a trolley or use it in good weather or use it in bad weather

it's there for you. And I wanted to give that a bit of a shout-out as something I think a few of you guys could really enjoy

Couple of other shout-outs I want to give to the Titleist Players 4 Stay Dry

great all We tested a nice purple colourway this year And the Callaway Fairway CHD which we tested in a bright orange colorway this year I was a huge fan of it I know my colleague Barry who tested it

is also a huge fan of it. There are more subtle ones available, if that's not for you. But as a bag

itself, it's a really great all-rounder. Fully waterproof, pretty lightweight in the grand scheme

of things. Well-proportioned for clubs and accessories and a full-length power pocket

and some really great straps and hip pads. They've got really nice material that Callaway uses

It's really soft and makes for a nice carrying experience, which I think is sort of the minimum for most stand bags nowadays

So there's another great option. And lastly before I crown my winner is Big Macs

and the Aqua 7 and the Aqua 8, the 8 being bigger than the 7

Again, great value. Big Macs get a bit underrated in this section, actually

but I think the waterproof materials they use are really well constructed

and it comes with a three-year guarantee on it, which most of the bags can't offer

So those shout outs to some really great waterproof stand bags. You'll be happy with any of them

But I wanted to crown my winner because it stands out for me for the attention to detail

And that is this. It's the Sun Mountain H2 No Lightspeed. And I've been using this pretty much all winter and all spring

in what's been a very wet United Kingdom recently. And you can see how good it looks still

after a bit of a battering. It really survives the weather. And this waterproof material is impenetrable

The zips are seam sealed, so there's absolutely no leakage whatsoever. This zipper here, you can control with one hand, which is a nice touch if you might have an umbrella in one hand here

but you want to get into a pocket. I can all reoperate with one hand and the pockets are really well proportioned

You can see this has been thought of and designed by golfers. And the key example for that is the valuables pocket, which has this divider in the middle

which means you can put your keys in one side and your phone in the other and it stops them from scratching

because we've all had it where we've put keys in a phone in a valuables pocket and your keys have scratched your phone or some coins have scratched your phone

And that's just a really nice touch that makes you look and think about this bag

as being well thought of. And for this year, it must be worth mentioning

Sun Mountain are offering embroidery on the ball pocket. So I've got my name and the beautiful Golf Monthly logo there

That sort of thing is normally apportioned to clubs doing bulk orders for their club crest

But now you can get it on individual bags you purchase at Sun Mountain. So the reason this is my winner in the best waterproof category is how good it is as a waterproof bag, you know, out and out

And for the attention to detail and the little touches that they've put across this entire bag for this redesign

So well done to Sun Mountain. And that's my best waterproof stand bag of 2024

Okay, next up is chat about the best value stand bags. Now, I don't lean too heavily on these brands, but McGregor and Big Macs for me

where you're going to find the best value in the stand bag market. They make some really good bags

at great prices. I've already mentioned the Acura 7G in the previous segment, 160 quid for a well

proportioned, fully waterproof bag. That's as good as you're going to get price-wise, really

for one that really works. But my winner in this category has got to go to the McGregor. This is the Paramount 14 hybrid bag. Now, 14 being it's got a 14-way full divider

that splits opinion, I get it. But because this is a hybrid bag, you can use it as a stand bag

and as a cart bag. It's only 120 quid. It's basically two bags in one. And yes, the materials

are a little cheaper. There's no denying that. But the padding is good. The straps are comfortable

There well pockets across it There a valuables pocket a drinks pocket a pencil pocket It got everything And for 120 quid for a bag that can be used in multiple situations there isn much better than this and a shout out to mcgregor for their other bags as well for making really great value options for

people across the market okay so this next category is one we've only really delved into

this year for the first time i'm excited to talk about it it's it's sunday bags pencil bags whatever

you want to call it, is really lightweight bags that carry roughly half a set and are great if

you're playing nine of an evening or just carry half a set anyway and want a really lightweight

bag. We've tested three this year and one last year that I want to talk about. The one from last

year is a tightest premium carry bag. That's one with no legs on it. A great option if it really

is half a set on a Sunday evening. But the three we've tested this year, I think, are really

comprehensive and genuine options for any kind of golfer, really. I'll come as my favourite in a

minute, but a couple of shout outs first. The Vessel Sunday 3. Now, this is Sunday by name

but I wouldn't say quite Sunday by nature. It's a pretty comprehensive bag, perfectly proportioned for 14 clubs, beautifully made as every Vessel bag is with this sort of

leather material, great pockets. And it is a smaller bag, but not quite Sunday by nature in

the next two I'm going to talk about. So next up is the Callaway Par 3 HD. Now, this comes in at

two kilos, so it's not the lightest Sunday bag on the planet, but it's got those brilliant sort of

slightly smaller legs that are maybe about a foot long that just keep that front end of the bag off

the ground when you leave it in places. You can squeeze 14 into it, but it's a little bit of a

tight one. I'd say eight to 10 or 11 are probably best if you're using this bag, but it's super

lightweight, and as with all Callaway bags, really well built, really well proportioned as well for

the kind of bag that it is. I think if you're after a classic Sunday bag with those small legs

there's your one to go for however my winner is a bag i've just i sort of fell in love with weirdly

and i know it's a weird thing to say about golf bags because they're inanimate objects but it's

this it's the sunday sunday golf uh loma xl so it's literally in the brand's name to be sunday

bags here and this thing's just gorgeous this toasted almond colorway i think makes this thing

look really trendy um and i've never used a sunday bag before so i'm excited to talk about it today

and i've used this for a couple of rounds only fits eight clubs at absolute maximum proper sunday

bag half set but they've just thought about everything in this bag everything else in this

bag perfectly there's a pocket for everything there's a brilliant valuables pocket which is

still velour lined it's like really soft red felt there's somewhere to stick your glove somewhere to

stick the pencils a little sort of mesh pocket here which i've put a range finder in or a gps

whatever you use and my absolute favorite and you can see it now it's the frosty pocket i mean that

in its own brought a smile to my face it's quite a fun bag but this can perfectly fit a water bottle

or two cans of your favorite hard seltzer whatever you might as a drink out on the golf course and i

could just tell this bag has been made with love care and attention by people who love the game

and love what a sunday bag is all about right so if you're in the market for one and you're looking

four a lightweight but still very well proportioned half set bag that looks beautiful and just makes

you smile it's made me smile the sunday golf loma xl is a real winner

okay so my final category i've called it best looking but what i'm really looking at here are

those best like vinyl bags you know those classic bags that are very much coming back into style now ojo bought a new one out this year called the shadow love that name and there are some shadowy colors in it i think the all black one that my colleagues tested looks so clean so if you one of those golfers that loves a classic looking bag and wants that to be sort of you know as clean as

possible so you can add your color in it on your towel or on the head covers or whatever it is

that ojo shadow just looks absolutely mint so well done to them for that um sort of latching

onto this trend and doing a really concise job of it. Another bag worth mentioning for style is the

Minimal Terra SE1. Interestingly, this stand back has no zips, only magnetic pockets, which do work

very well at a very premium, although they do mean it isn't 100% waterproof, so bear that in mind

That said, the frost white colour on that recycled nylon material, worth noting

looks super cool and there's plenty of storage on offer throughout the bag. Definitely one of the

best looking of 2024. The two I want to really focus on though that I think needs to bring to

people's attention. Firstly, the Stitch SL2 Fadeaway. Stitch again, an emerging brand

they do apparel, they do bags. And this SL2 Fadeaway is beautifully crafted. My colleague

Neil has been using it. He's got his initials on it and it's a beautiful navy colorway. And again

really, really well built bag. The reason it's not quite won this category is just missing a few

pockets in our opinion. It's missing at least a big valuables, sorry, no, a big apparel pocket

and probably one on the front for some balls as well from the feedback Neil has

And it was just missing a couple, but still beautifully crafted in this emerging trending space

But the winner and the comfortable winner for me is another bag I've fallen in love with

I keep falling in love with inanimate objects this year, but hey, that's my job. It's the Vessel Sunday 3

in this beautiful gray colorway. This is, again, it's not quite a Sunday bag by name

as I mentioned a minute ago, but it is perfectly proportioned for me for a full set of 14

and all the accessories you need. It's got a big enough apparel pocket

to put one sort of gilet in maybe. The valuables pocket is brilliantly lined

It's got a magnetic rangefinder pocket. I'm a sucker for a magnetic pocket

I really am. And then a decent pocket on the front for the balls. And it's just really clean, really well designed

And I know they're on the expensive end. I think this one's just shy of 300 pounds, but that's not much more than some others, I think

And you really feel like you get your money's worth with that. So there you have it

But the Vessel Sunday 3, It's become my gamer bag. I hate that phrase, but it is

It's what I use all the time. You can see some of my trinkets are still on it. It's felt genuinely, and I'll be dramatic

like a sort of extension of myself. This thing fits on my back perfectly. It carries just what I need and no more

I don't even know all that clutter. No more and no less. And it's beautiful

I've had a lot of comments saying just how good this bag looks. I'm one of those people that likes a really clean bag

who can then accessorize it with like towels and head covers and stuff. and that does that job perfectly

All of my category winners though, I think are worthy stand bags. So depending on what your priorities are

whether it's lightweight, waterproof, hybrid, value, there are some great options here
