Hi everyone, it's Global Scholarships and I'm your host, as I hope you're all doing well. I hope everything is going great. And today we're going to talk about how to find scholarships in South Korea. But this won't be just a very short video on how to, like, to show you how to find scholarships in South Korea. But this will be a more kind of a deep dive on like how to, I don't know, like how to decide whether you actually want to study in South Korea, like how to choose the university, how to choose a program. Like I'm going to give you quite
0:29
a lot of guides today and like it will it will help you with quite a lot of gaps that might
0:37
exist in your information to about like finding scholarships finding schools finding programs
0:45
and etc in south korea so let's get to it now yeah now this uh this is the link i'm going to
0:53
share it with you down in the description so basically we have in our guide section
0:59
basically these lists for our articles and our guides for different countries and this one is for
1:06
South Korea so all the articles or all the guides you see here are basically written specifically
1:13
for South Korea as you can see we have like different steps of the process like higher education
1:19
choosing university best programs applying to university and etc so basically when you like
1:26
before you even start looking for scholarships, trying to find scholarships in South Korea
1:32
The first thing I think you have to decide is whether we actually want to study in South Korea
1:39
And this goes for pretty much every country that you might want to study in
1:43
you know, when you want to study abroad. Because like in a lot of countries
1:48
there might be things that are kind of like incompatible with you as a person
1:53
And when you, like, you don't want to go there and find out that it's not. a place you can live in. It's not a, it's not a, like the education system is not compatible
2:04
with you as a student. So basically we have here two guides. One is for higher education in South
2:11
Korea and pros and cons of the education system in South Korea. Of course, there are other things
2:17
to keep in mind as well, like the culture, you know, I'm pretty sure you've seen quite a lot of
2:23
videos on TikTok, on YouTube, about different countries, like what? to do in this country, what not to do in this country
2:30
Let's pass on. But here we are more interested in the education
2:36
So basically you can look into these two guides, like types of higher education
2:42
We have colleges, industrial colleges, teachers colleges, and etc. So we have quite detailed information about each one of them, types of different degree levels
2:53
And then we have pros and cons of the education system. South Korea, which I think you really should consider and give quite, quite heavy thinking into
3:07
like, because here we have, for example, one thing that I really didn't know, but could be quite
3:12
important for a lot of people, is that, like, one of the cons or drawbacks of the education
3:17
system in South Korea is that over emphasis on test-centric degrees. The Korean system we would like to mention is the institute pressure on students
3:26
perform in standardized tests. So standardized tests are kind of more important in South Korean education system than they are
3:35
in like quite many other countries, let's say maybe United States, maybe Canada, Australian
3:42
etc. And some people can do like can perform quite well in standardized tests and some people just cannot
3:51
So maybe like if you know yourself to be a person who cannot perform
3:56
well under the conditions of a standardized test, maybe South Korea is not really the good
4:05
option for you. We have other pros and cons as well, of course, obviously, quality of education
4:12
international collaboration, specialized programs, maybe too specialized actually. Affordable tuition fees, job placement, like, well, affordable tuition, at least for most public universities
4:24
job placement and career opportunities. And yeah, as you can see, most of its universities boast an employment rate of over 25, what, 85% overall
4:34
which is a defining factor. So we have drawbacks here, high fees in private universities, like a lack of work-life balance
4:44
So you will probably have that in quite a lot of universities in Japan as well, like maybe more than you would see in other universities in, maybe in Europe
4:56
maybe in the United States, but like, yeah, work-life balance is quite different in South Korea
5:03
So it might be quite different to what you're used to. A student can face trouble balancing long, university hours with their work life, etc
5:15
So, like, not much room for leisure, because that's, like, that's the way their culture is
5:23
so limited course choices and etc. We have, of course, I can't ask questions
5:31
How is the Korean education system different from other countries? Do international students face extreme challenges
5:37
Well, you know, there's also, like, we have the language barrier, but we're going to get into that in a second
5:44
So basically, the first thing I think, I believe you should do is to, like
5:50
absolutely be sure that this is the country you want to. study in. Because like, even four years is quite a lot of time to spend in a country where
6:01
you are not compatible with the country, you're not compatible with the culture, and you cannot
6:06
really feel like you're showing yourself or growing in this education system. And different
6:12
countries have different education systems. After that, you're a hundred percent sure that you
6:18
want to study in this country. Well, of course, there is choosing a university and there is choosing
6:22
a program. Both of you, we got you covered. As you can see, we have quite a lot of guides for
6:30
choosing a university and best programs to study. Some of these we actually made into videos
6:37
so you might want to go and see them in our YouTube channel. Basically, for example, I remember
6:43
this one, three Korean universities with no application fees. So if you're interested in that
6:48
you can check it out. Actually, hang on, let me see. We have the video
6:52
you here yeah here's the video basically or you can just go to the page and watch our video there
6:59
basically so other than that like one thing another people one another another another thing that
7:06
a lot of people ask is like what if I don't know any Korean so like are there any English
7:12
taught universities in South Korea yeah there are and as you can see we have like best five
7:18
five best English taught universities in South Korea which is like probably the one
7:22
ones you already heard about in South Korea Yonzei University, Olson, Kyeonghi, Sejong, and I thought there was more, actually
7:36
Wangju Institute of Science and Technology. So we have seven best public universities, seven best private universities
7:44
So these would be probably the ones you are quite familiar with
7:50
public university, Seoul National University now we'll get to the financing options
7:56
but of course if you want to find a school where you won't have to pay
8:00
quite a lot of tuition fees because you cannot always depend on the scholarships
8:07
there's a very realistic chance that you will not be able to get
8:12
scholarships. So we have Keist. Actually for Keist I'm pretty sure we've made a tutorial application
8:18
tutorial as well. Incheon National University, Congenational University, Olson, as you can see
8:25
there are more. And then we have seven best private universities. And as you can see more best subjects best universities with high employability rates and five best cities to study But of course I think like before maybe like it kind of depends on you how you see it
8:45
But like maybe before you choose a university, you would do better to choose a program
8:52
And that too we have you covered. As you can see, we have quite a lot of guides, five best universities to study computer science
9:00
in South Korea. Four best universities to study data science. Five best universities to study
9:07
These ones are probably the ones you already know. Like universities like, of course, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
9:17
Seoul SNU, Korea University, Song Yuni University, and et cetera. So maybe like humanities and social sciences might be the ones that you don't already know
9:29
but one thing to keep in mind that like yeah they're actually pretty much the same
9:35
so one thing to keep in mind that we actually have more that you can click on load more
9:40
like best pre-met math schools culinary schools like I think it would be an amazing idea
9:47
to have a career on like culinary arts and go and study in South Korea
9:52
because like the country and the culture is known for it's like it's
9:59
food and etc so yeah that might be a really good idea best nursing schools best
10:05
culinary schools best music schools as you can see for example this university i don't think i've
10:14
seen catholic university of korea i don't think i've seen this school in any other uh list
10:22
but this is here like one of the best schools for studying nursing obviously uh schools like yon
10:29
University, Korea University, Seoul National University will always be there. And like, if you want to study in South Korea, probably these ones will be the ones you
10:41
aim for. But what these guides will give you, will offer you is the schools that you maybe didn't
10:49
know, like Catholic University of Korea. So it's one of the best schools to study nursing or Dancuk University
10:59
Han Yang University. Ewa Women's University, which has quite a lot of really good scholarships
11:06
especially for women, as well. And then we have frequently asked questions
11:11
As always, if you have any questions that aren't answered here, of course, you can always leave comments
11:17
And as you can see, Jan Lee, which is founder of global scholarships
11:22
always answer them. And then we have, like, best culinary schools. Again, none of these schools are the schools that I've heard in, like, I've seen in other lists as well
11:41
So, yeah, basically, you have to come to a point where you know the school
11:48
First of all, you are sure that you want to study in South Korea. Then you know what university you want to study in, and you know what program you want to study
11:59
Well, program is kind of more important, though. And then, of course, we have applying to university
12:06
And we have quite a lot of good information about applying to a university
12:12
And for schools like Kais, I believe, S&U, maybe even Yonse, I believe we have tutorial videos on our YouTube channel
12:23
but also we have guides here, like complete guide to university applications in South Korea
12:27
and also for different degrees for like study bachelors in South Korea
12:32
study master's in South Korea, study PhD in South Korea. And by the way, these are all completely free
12:39
This is just me going to our website. That's it. Like global scholarships.com study in South Korea
12:46
So there's not even like you don't even need an account or something
12:50
This is completely free information. All right. So complete guide to university application in South Korea
12:55
Like you can see here that this is. is quite a long guide, like, which will get you
13:01
And as you can see, it's a very kind of like a popular guide as well
13:05
And if you have more questions, and as you can see, Yanni answers them for you
13:10
So, like, we have pretty much everything here, all steps, like creating a list
13:19
And like, all the paragraphs, all the like step steps, as you can see, have like links to other guides
13:27
well if you have more questions on those create a list read the application requirements divide
13:32
the universities and the categories submit your admissions application and then like we have
13:39
information about general documents application standardized tests and etc and etc so we also have
13:46
different guides for different degrees as you can see for this is for bachelors we have for masters
13:55
we have one for PhD so you can look into those if you want to get more specific information right
14:04
and then of course something like even though the whole point of like our
14:13
live streams and our videos are more about like scholarships some of the most
14:19
frequently asked questions are about like the documents the tests like the language proficiency
14:26
so we have like whenever they are asked I try to refer you to
14:32
as refer you to our like guides as you can see we have quite a lot of those
14:39
here like about your documents how to write an effective statement of interest
14:44
how to get a great recommendation letter for example we have standardized tests here
14:49
complete guide to SAT for international students a CT for international students
14:54
G-MET, G-R-E for international students So basically these will give you I believe like if you go through this guide page
15:04
I don't think there will be any gaps In your knowledge about like applying to any school
15:13
Coming to the point where you find scholarships in South Korea All right
15:17
So basically yeah get a recommendation letter who should I ask what key points
15:27
how to make sure get the best recommendation as you can see
15:31
these are very good points and like if you you might think like how do you know
15:39
how the people who wrote this these know that these are the best tips
15:45
because one thing that global scholarships do that I really like and we're going to see
15:50
that in a minute as well like global scholarships reach out to people who received scholarships
15:56
and then like interviews them and like have them to share their own stories
16:03
like scholarship stories like how did they get the scholarship like what was it like to
16:09
study in a different country with a scholarship and etc and basically
16:13
those information are used that's what is what's used to come up and write with these these
16:22
guides. So we have a complete guide to SAT for international students. SAT
16:29
we get quite a lot of questions about SAT and like general overview
16:34
and tips and etc. And that ACT. Another thing that get people really
16:43
curious is the language proficiency tests and we have as you can see
16:46
we have complete guides for all of those. As you can see, like, complete guide to dual-lingo English test, complete guide to to topple test
16:58
language tests needed in South Korea for international students. Korean proficiency test, complete guide to topic
17:05
Topic is basically it means test of proficiency in Korean So like you get this you take this test to like prove your proficiency in Korean And there are some scholarships as you can see benefit from various scholarship opportunities
17:21
Actually, you know what? I never clicked on this link before, but let's see what it gives us
17:28
29 best scholarships in Korea for international students. Hang on. Let me actually look for topic
17:35
Yeah, as you can see. those with a topic level six are exempted from Korean language training requirements
17:43
students with topic 5 plus scores are qualified for a full tuition waiver
17:50
and this is the University of Olson you see in preference as you can see like
17:58
this scholarship in Korea is available to approximately 8.5% of the international
18:03
student buddy at Gigi University with preference given to applicants with topic ratings of five or higher
18:10
So basically, not only you approve your proficiency in Korean, but also like you get quite a lot of opportunities to get scholarships
18:21
There are universities that say, okay, like if you get, I don't know, like topic level three
18:28
I'm going to charge you 50% of the normal tuition fee. If you get level 4, I'm going to charge you 25% of the tuition fee
18:38
And if you get 5 level a topic, I will not charge you any tuition fee
18:42
So basically, it's quite good. And we have the full guide here
18:50
And we have language tests needed in South Korea. As you can see, topic is one
18:55
Korean language ability test, clad is another one. Why are these the same
19:02
like aptitude test, like, couldn't they come up with another, anyway? So, and then we have English language tests, ILTNS, Toffel, and of course, Duolingo test
19:14
If you do not know, a Duolingo is a language learning platform, and they also have an English test
19:20
that, like, some universities accept. And as you can see, we have a complete guide on, got dualingo English tests for international
19:29
students in general and that one for South Korea. One thing that could be quite interesting in this
19:38
like another guide here would be maybe the universities, because we have seven universities in South Korea accepting TOEFL scores
19:48
Maybe putting here, I don't know, how many universities, like three universities in South Korea accepting Duolingo English test score
19:56
because a lot of people are asking about a dual-lingo test since it's the most affordable one, right
20:04
So we have, of course, financing your studies. Now, we're going to see how to find, like specifically look for scholarships
20:11
using our scholarship database. But also, as you can see, we have, like, how to study in Korea for free
20:18
Basically, we have made a video about this, by the way. Here we can see that
20:24
It's one of our most popular. videos as well. So, like, we know that
20:32
people find it useful cost of studying and living in South Korea
20:37
This also is really good. I made a video for this as well, but it wasn't
20:42
as popular. No, I haven't done for this one. Yeah, because I made some videos for cost of
20:52
studying and living for other countries and it wasn't that popular, unfortunately
20:58
Seven cheapest universities in Korea. I think we've made this one into a video as well
21:04
Let me see. I don't know. Might be. Okay, so. And of course, as you can see, we have scholarship opportunities here
21:14
Now, I'm going to move into scholarships, but keep in mind that we have other things here as well
21:19
like types of visa, how to get a student visa for South Korea
21:24
how to get a Korean work visa, work opportunities. As you can see, become a teacher
21:28
teacher, become a doctor, for ways to work while studying in South Korea for international
21:34
students, how to apply for online degree programs. This one, I'm not sure if this would be
21:41
interesting for people, but I might make videos on this, online degrees you can take. We have
21:47
acceptance rates for different universities. We have 10 universities in Korea with low acceptance
21:53
and nine universities with high acceptance rates. Anyway, so let's turn back to
21:58
scholarship opportunities. Basically, we have 29 best scholarships in Korea for international students, and I'm sure
22:05
I've made like five or seven of these into a video. I am planning to do more, like other ones as well, but basically these are the best scholarships
22:15
that you could find in South Korea, like starting from Global Korea scholarship
22:21
S&U President Fellowship Program, the Onseni University Underwood International College admissions scholarship and etc
22:28
It goes all the way. As you can see, it's a very long guide
22:34
So we have Korean government scholarships. I'm also pretty sure I made a video
22:40
for this one as well. As you can see, this is a very popular one
22:45
Right? People are asking. And we have currently open scholarships in South Korea. I'm going to share the link
22:52
for this as well in the description, but you won't need it because
22:56
we're going to see. So basically here we have different entries of
23:01
scholarships in South grade that are open for application right now, as you can see. Like we have the deadlines here
23:08
Like institution name, scholarship, like name of the scholarship coverage, a 50% reduction in tuition for all students. So basically
23:17
it doesn't tell you whether it's full tuition or partial tuition. Hang on
23:26
1 to 7 of 7 entries Okay, we're going to see that
23:34
Anyway, so basically you could click on any of these Scholarships to
23:39
Ah, no, here, okay, here it says like partial funding, partial funding
23:42
All tuition, anyway, you can go to the scholarship page But before that, I'm going to actually show you
23:50
how to find scholarships not in just self, Korea, but anywhere in the country, like anywhere in the world, like maybe United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea
24:05
So basically, you go to global scholarships.com. And if you do not know, we have a completely free search tool
24:12
All right. Here it is. As you can see, start your search. And you can just type in anything here
24:18
If you want to study in Canada, you can just type in Canada. and it used to work faster, I think
24:28
Hang on. Yeah, here it is. So you can click on Canada, right, and it will show you, like the search result
24:37
search will show you all the scholarships we have in our database
24:41
And Canada, as you can say, 436. And then you can use this, like use our filters for, like, let's say, for PhD
24:50
for you're looking for full tuition scholarships. We have just two of those
24:56
Okay, there aren't that many. There are not that many full tuition scholarships
25:00
for PhD students in Canada, apparently. Let's say partial funding, right? And deadlines, let's say, open
25:10
You can't, sorry, they can't track PhD deadlines. So let's say actually, bachelors
25:20
Okay, so subject usually doesn't matter, but let's say data science. And you can use your nationality to filter for that one too
25:29
I'm going to say Turkey, because I'm from Turkey. And as you can see, we have like 83 scholarships here
25:36
And let's say, I'm interested in this one, diverse scholarships in Thumson Rivers University
25:41
I can click on this one right Go and see the scholarship We going to get to that But let say you are looking for a scholarship like this you can use for every country But let say you are looking for a scholarship in South Korea specifically
25:56
All right. Choose South Korea. As you can see, we have 262 scholarships in total. Some of them are not open right now. Some of them are full tuition. Some of them are partial tuition. Let's say
26:12
Open, deadlines open, all right? Of course, let's say bachelor's. As you can see, we have like six scholarships
26:23
that are open right now for bachelors. We have entrance scholarship for international students
26:30
with official language test scores. See? So the test scores, hang on
26:35
Let me see. Yeah, as you can see, so this is basically
26:40
in Hondo Global University and as you can see for different levels of topic
26:48
scores you have different percentage of percentages of reduction in your tuition fee right
26:57
and if as you can see you have all the information here
27:01
like eligibility criteria application procedure deadline and etc and again if you have any questions
27:09
you can just type in the comment and Ian will answer them for you
27:13
Right? Maybe you're looking for outstanding international students scholarship. Hang on. Let me see actually if there is a full funding scholarship
27:26
Basically, if you don't know, partial tuition means it covers less than the tuition fees
27:32
Full tuition means it covers entirety of the tuition fees. And full funding, as you can see here
27:38
full funding means it covers tuition fees. And then some more, like gives you some more financial benefits
27:45
At least sometimes it could be financial. It could be just stipends
27:49
Could be allowances. Maybe it covers your accommodation, room, boarding, etc. These are all partial funding
27:59
Let's look for Masters. Maybe we can find some full. Yeah, as you can see, we have a full funding scholarship for Masters
28:08
actually we have two full funding scholarships. One is a graduate assistantship
28:14
Actually, we've seen this one in a live stream. We have put scholarships in Presbyterian University and theological seminary
28:22
So basically, it covers tuition fee, room, and weekday meal stops at the school canteen
28:28
and a financial aid of $15,000 for MA and KHM programs and $24,000 for each PhDs
28:38
which are not that bad, by the way. Where is this school again
28:47
Hmm. Okay, anyway. So, yeah, this is how we find the scholarships
28:58
And the final step, right? You, like, maybe you are interested in a scholarship
29:03
Let's say, um, let's say, actually, you know what? Let's go back a little bit
29:18
Right. So let's say you come here and found the scholarship that you're interested in here
29:26
29 best scholarships in Korea for international students. And you are interested in this scholarship, global Korea scholarship
29:34
Now, again, as I said, one thing that I really, like that global scholarship does is reaching out to scholarship recipients, all right, and
29:45
getting them to share their stories like scholarship stories with other people. So basically
29:54
I'm going to share this with you too, share this link with you too. This is, as you can see
29:59
South Korea Scholarships. So basically, these are people who got scholarships Actually, hang on
30:08
Global Korea scholarships, South Korea scholarships. Okay. Yeah, this is the same page
30:15
These are different people who received scholarships, like scholarship recipients. And as you can see
30:22
these are like shared quite recently because we have quite a lot of people
30:27
and more people, like more stories are coming. And you can click on any of them
30:33
Amin Musali, Deepika, Goyal. I'm not sure what, how their name are correctly pronounced
30:39
But as you can see, you can just click on them and go and see their stories
30:44
how they, like the journey, like the scholarship details, for example, this person, this student had a global Korea scholarship
30:55
It's a fully founded scholarship provided by the South Korean government itself
30:58
So basically, this one, this scholarship, right? and then their educational background
31:08
how did they prepare to apply for scholarships and institutions what would you have done differently
31:14
if we're going to going through the process again what advice so basically their stories their background
31:21
and like what advice could they give people who are looking to get that scholarship
31:29
and if you want to get into further contact As you can see, we have contact information here, LinkedIn, Instagram
31:37
And as you can see, we have more than one people, and new people are coming in
31:42
Another scholar for Global Korea Scholarship. So, yeah, as you can see, you can learn about their stories, what they have done
31:53
what they think they have done right to get those scholarships, what they would have done differently
32:01
and now that they have that information. So basically, anyway, this was
32:08
so as you can see, this page takes you from the point
32:14
where you don't, like, didn't even decide whether you really want to study in this country
32:19
and fills all the gaps in your information, like the choosing university
32:25
best programs, what program to study, how to apply for a certain degree
32:31
agree for like in a certain country and like what documents you have, what tests you need to
32:38
apply or you take what language tests, how you finance your education, scholarship opportunities
32:47
and etc. So basically it covers all the gaps that could exist in your knowledge. So I'm going to
32:54
