It's Reese Withers
0:01
That's insane! And it's just kind of... Oh my gosh! It's Reese
0:06
Yes! So I mean, I did little fires with Reese and I have no..
0:10
I have no recollection of this. No! I promise you neither does Reese. No
0:15
Mila and Kerry, hello, hello. How are you? We're so good. Happy to be here
0:19
Do you know what? It's lovely to see your beautiful faces. Welcome to heart. Do you know what
0:23
I am so excited for everyone to see this film, Wake Up Dead Man, A Knives Out Mystery
0:28
It is brilliantly done. first of all it's clever it's funny it's also dark it's kind of got it all do you mean it does
0:34
it does did you have a lot of fun making this we did we had the best time i mean i i had the best
0:39
time yes it was the whole experience from like top to bottom i think they set up the greatest
0:45
crew the greatest cast the greatest vibes the greatest environment it's awesome do you ever
0:51
get that kind of pinch me moment you know when you're in a cast as big as it is do you look
0:58
around at everyone go oh my gosh this is what i do every day or is it all normalized now it's not
1:02
normal it's never normal even just getting the phone call to do this film is a pinch me moment
1:08
because it's such a fun franchise every single cast has been star-studded a-listers really
1:13
talented people but also what i love about these films is that because it's an ensemble piece the
1:18
actors that gravitate toward these movies are people who want to do like fun work with a lot
1:23
of humility like there's not nobody's looking to be a big diva on set everybody wants to
1:27
work together and create something really special together and that vibe is really it's a joy to get
1:34
that phone call was like what are you sure of course i want to come do this with you yeah what
1:39
was your first reaction when you actually looked at the script well we were we were just talking
1:43
about the fact that the script came to us in this kind of crazy bond like dang o'crag situation there
1:49
It was like an iPad that had a password and you had to plug it in order to just read the script
1:55
because they want to protect the plot so dearly. Yeah, so it was crazy
2:00
So hang on. So were there any secrets then that were kept from you whilst filming
2:05
or did you know everything? We knew everything, but I will say the crew didn't
2:09
So they didn't give the script to the crew. The only people in the crew that got it were the department heads
2:14
Yeah. And if you weren't the department head, you didn't know what was happening. So the camera operators, the majority of people on set were along for the ride
2:22
And so they amongst themselves had bets going on as we were shooting like A, who dies and B, who's the murderer and like all the things
2:28
And so it was very much kept a secret. No, but I would say we all knew the story
2:33
It made rehearsals really fun, too, because when we were rehearsing scenes in the morning, it was the first time the crew was hearing the scene
2:41
And so they were kind of tuned into rehearsals in a different way than what normally happens on set
2:45
Yeah, they cared. Versus they never cared. And in this case, they're like, what is happening
2:51
You did it. You done it. Oh, that's fun, though. That's really fun
2:54
Filmed here in the UK. Yes. So what then, I would say, Mila, would be your British traditions that you experienced after filming
3:03
So did you do anything? My kid came back with a British accent. Stop it
3:08
Yeah. My son decided that he was British. Yeah. But like really committed to the gag
3:13
Like at first we were like, this is gonna, this is kind of cute and funny while we're here
3:17
And then we came back to LA and he was like, hello lad. And so he went back to school with an accent and like a week later it was gone
3:25
But I was like, we definitely took that back with us. I trying to think of like other traditions but I feel like that one is a pretty solid one It pretty big Carrie for yourself We you know we come here a lot actually because we have family here We have cousins actually in Milton Keynes
3:39
Shout out to Milton Keynes. So we, and all the roundabouts. Love it
3:44
Yes. So we do, we're here often, but my kids have always actually traded toys with their cousins
3:50
because their cousins used, even when they were little, they would get such a kick out of the fact that the toy speaks with an American accent
3:55
And then we would go home with toys that speak with a British accent. But we had a blast here
4:00
It was really fun to live here all summer. Yeah. And to really like settle in to what it's like to be here
4:07
We lived out in the countryside and we just enjoyed every second, really
4:12
Have you tried, both of you, our typical Sunday roast? Oh, I went to a lot of them
4:18
Oh, good. I did. We did a thing of like trying out different Sunday roasts in as many pubs as like
4:23
on like the list of like the best of pubs. Yeah. One of those ones
4:27
Yeah, yeah, yeah. are incredible. They're great. That's what we do every Sunday. I mean, you're very full. Do you make a roast
4:32
or do you go out for one? I prefer to go out for one. I'm not very good at cooking
4:36
for many people. So if it's me and my friends, we have a thing here called Toby Carb Free
4:41
I don't know if you've heard of it. It's really cheap, okay? But it is brilliant
4:45
What is it? So it's a roast dinner buffet. And it's so cheap
4:50
So it's like, I'm going to guess, I think it's like 12 pounds and you can go large
4:54
for an extra £1.99. And it's literally a carvery. it's a delivery
4:59
and you can just keep going up again and again and again we've made ourselves ill
5:04
because you can't stop it's like roast pork you've got your gammon
5:08
you've got your beef and you can just go up that's what I do on a Sunday
5:12
it's shocking it's very not shockingly but it's very filling on a roast
5:17
on like a Sunday roast I only ate I think the Sunday roast and I was not hungry afterwards
5:22
like I no longer felt hunger for the rest of the day oh you're done Did you have it earlier in the day
5:28
It was always around like one o'clock-ish. Yeah. Yeah, we made our way through
5:34
There's no pudding? No. No space for pudding? No. No, I was full
5:41
I'm glad that you got properly into the British tradition of a Sunday roast
5:45
We're all friends here. We're all family. Yeah, fish and chips. Yeah. Everything. Oh, that's a classic
5:50
Yeah, that's on a Friday. Yeah. We love that. We love fish and chips. So, Kerry, let's talk about your character
5:56
Yeah. So Vera has a very sharp intuition. Would you say that you're the same in real life
6:02
Do you always go with your gut? Oh, I think for me, that's been a big part of adulting
6:08
of like becoming more of myself in the world was learning to listen to my gut
6:13
I don't think I always trusted my gut, but I think it is something I've come into as I've gotten older
6:18
Okay. Yeah. And you just go with that flow. I try to now
6:22
I feel like nothing good ever comes from me ignoring. my gut, that's for sure
6:27
But I think it was sort of, I just had a disconnection to it for a long time
6:31
But now in my life, I would say yes, I very much trust my gut
6:35
I think it comes with trust in yourself. The older that we get, the more you actually trust yourself
6:39
Your gut is based on your lived experience. Your gut is really like a collection of
6:43
all of your wisdom that you've been able to gather. Okay. And Mila, for you
6:49
your character, local police, and I would say that you are essential to solving the case
6:56
Are you quite the detective in real life? Am I a detective
7:00
I mean, I think I am. Yeah? Have you ever solved anything Like in your personal life maybe No Where the left sock Who left the toilet seat up no no i not very good at it but i very entertaining bring me a mystery and i got you
7:16
like call me and let's solve this thing together i wouldn't say like that's my superpower but i'm
7:21
down but mila's very good at i would say one of mila's superpowers is you're really good at seeing
7:27
things from multiple perspectives like you're very open in that way so i think that makes for
7:32
good problem solving when you're able to shift your point of view yeah 100 thank you yeah yeah
7:37
yeah now us brits we love a whodunit mystery we cannot get enough of it what do you both think
7:44
it is about these type of films that we just cannot get enough of what would you say we can't
7:49
solve them particularly these ones ryan johnson yeah you can't and you can't poke a hole in it
7:55
no it's perfectly structured the logic is so solid and it's completely unpredictable
8:00
I think it's the element of surprise of feeling like you're trying
8:09
there's an active way in watching these films or you feel like you're a part of it
8:13
because you're actively trying to solve it as you watch it but then also the humility of like
8:17
oh, it's bigger than me yes and also you know sometimes when it's thrown
8:22
almost in the direction of someone you're like oh it was definitely them and then bang
8:26
it's like the twist but I love many twists if you have quite a few in one film
8:30
it's like you never stop and relax you're constantly on the edge that's why I think you have to see these kind of films
8:36
especially on big screens as well I just think you really just get properly immersed in it
8:42
this one's fun to watch with people because also it's like it's fun to hear the audience responses
8:49
it's very fun it's like a shared experience now you two you've known each other for very long
8:57
am I right in saying is it around 20 years that you've known each other for? No
9:01
No, really? No, I wish. How long have you known each other for then
9:05
Not that long. Yeah, casually through the years. And not really. Less than 10
9:10
Less than 10? Less than 10. Carrie and I are less than 10. I'm going to take you back to 2001
9:14
We've both been in the business for a long time. I'll ask you a question. Do you remember presenting a war together
9:20
Holy crap. 2001. What? No, we didn't. Right, hold on. We are going to get the fact checker up
9:25
I'm dead. Are you ready for this? Was it like the Kids Choice Awards or something? Have a look at this. This is the choice movie of the Summer Award
9:32
Look at you two! Oh my God! We're such babies! I have no memory of this, Mila
9:39
I would have met you. 24 years ago! What? This is incredible
9:46
We should have stayed in touch. What happened? We're so crazy. We're babies
9:53
2001. Was it the Teen Choice Awards? Oh my gosh. Are you kidding me
9:59
And what were we presenting? Some choice awards for best. Was it best kiss
10:04
The best summer award. The best choice movie of the summer award. Oh my gosh
10:09
Crazy beautiful. Isn't that insane? League won. Who won? Who won? Go on
10:15
Do you know? No. Okay. We don't know. We're going to watch it. Hang on. Let's just find out who won. Wait for it
10:19
You're so cute. Oh, hang on a minute. Wait, wait, wait. Who's won
10:25
Who comes up? It is. It's Reese Withers. Oh, that's insane. And it just comes
10:32
Oh, my gosh. It's Reese. Yes. I mean I just little fires with Reese I have no recollection of this None I promise you neither does Reese I promise you this is insane that is hilarious next time you have her on this show
10:48
doing press please show her this video and be like do you recall these two
10:52
this is what I'm going to do I'm going to make that promise to you next time that she's in
10:56
you have to she'll be like I have no idea what you're talking about
11:00
I love her hair look how cute her little shaggy haircut is so cute
11:04
the 2000s were great 2001 I was 18 I was 18 years old in that video
11:09
what? that's incredible I graduated high school I wish that we had kept in touch honestly
11:14
I know we met 10 years ago I was like hang on a minute you met a long time ago
11:20
that's nuts though but life goes very quick but also if you told those two girls
11:25
that 25 years later we would be like both raising kids in the English countryside
11:32
doing a dream come true movie together we would have been like what? huh? what
11:36
yeah that's wild dream comes full circle there you go amazing wow so please keep in touch after
11:43
this this movie yeah but she's stuck with me now 20 years now we do but now i can say i've
11:48
known kerry for 20 years who knew who knew see i'm here to help i'm just like gonna connect
11:53
you we are such assholes and we went oh we didn't know each other so crazy so we both
11:59
were in the black outfit like we were so we were cute yeah there was definitely a text that went
12:04
between you two what are you going to wear okay cool let's wear this no there was probably no cell phones it was like sidekicks yes
12:09
this was a long time ago oh my god it was like a thank you for bringing
12:13
that pages yeah pages thank you for sharing that with us anytime wow right
12:18
there is a little something that I like to do oh my god okay so you're going down
12:22
memory lane now because you're so out of body when you do these award shows you're so out of body
12:26
it's so chaotic it's so and it's over like that bam yes
12:31
and yeah and it goes and then you're on to the next thing that's right yeah Yeah, yeah. Wow
12:35
Now, there's a little something that I like to do with my guests. It's called Please Stop Asking Me
12:38
Now, this isn't a question that is good or bad. It's just a question that you've answered quite a lot of times
12:44
and it's enough. So, for instance, we've had Idris Elba, who said, please stop asking me if I'm going to be the next James Bond
12:51
Kevin Hart said, can you please stop asking me to FaceTime your friends because they don't recognise me, and it's embarrassing
12:58
So, have you got a question that keeps popping up, and you're like, okay, we're done
13:02
We're done with this. What's yours? I get asked all the time to do like a voicemail recording, but in my Meg voice
13:10
Yes. To which I say, it is my voice. Yeah. And they're like, can you say something in your Meg voice
13:17
And I'm like, I just did. All day long. All day. That's what I do
13:21
It's just you get what you get. I'm not that talented. Maybe I pitch it a little, but it's pretty much my voice
13:26
So cute. Love it. Yeah. Carrie? Oh, I'm torn between people. I think it would probably be people asking me about a scandal movie
13:36
I cannot answer that question. I am not Shonda Rhimes. It is in her hands
13:41
Yeah. We asked around. It's quite funny, actually. The office. It's for some police to pass me questions that might pop up for you guys
13:48
And they were exactly the same. Oh, my God. Were they? That's hilarious
13:52
Yeah, exactly the same. So, we get it. So, see, we hear you
13:56
We hear you, people. We hear you. and we hear you thank you so much
14:01
for coming in I just love the chemistry of you two and I'm so happy for this movie thank you for stopping by
14:05
it's a pleasure to meet you likewise thanks for showing us this video
14:09
this is hot
