There's a scene with me in a shower and I am fully nude and my character's unconscious
0:05
flinging and I'm flinging myself against these like hard porcelain walls. This is all Dave, no stunt double, no special effects
0:13
And so that hurts really bad. So I'm watching those moments and I was like, ooh, I can't believe I did that
0:21
First of all, I want to say hello, hello and welcome to the Heart Evening Show
0:26
It's such a pleasure to finally meet the both of you. You give true couple goals
0:31
On screen, off screen. We just love you, by the way. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you for having us
0:36
Happy to be here. I haven't stopped talking about this film. I literally am a heart horror buff, by the way
0:42
Oh, great. So I am their go-to girl. I'm going to use a word that I haven't used in a while
0:48
especially when it comes to horror movies, and that is squirming. I was squirming
0:54
It was like whoever the sound person is, by the way. Can we recognize them
0:58
Who was it? Yes. God. So good. Paul. Look him up and he's amazing
1:03
We love Paul. I will look him up. We recently learned, I think, that Paul used some interesting, like he used some cactus
1:10
Oh, yeah. Cactus. For like limbs cracking. He would just like crack a little cactus
1:15
A little spike off of a cactus. It's always interesting the things they use for that sound design, right
1:21
They're like whacking a piece of lettuce in a wet bag. As much as we're talking about like this is squirmy, this is grotesque
1:27
Like this movie is also about this couple and it's kind of romantic and it's funny and it's just a good time
1:35
We watched it the first time together and we were like, I guess we're both quitting acting. And then 24 hours later, we watched it again separately and we were like, it's great
1:44
Yes! I mean, we love this movie so much. We have been involved in it for over two years now at this point
1:51
So it's like so exciting for it to be coming out in theaters
1:55
Every time we watch this movie with an audience and we just rewatched it at our Los Angeles premiere
2:00
I'm grabbing Dave's hand. I can feel my shoulders rising to my ears
2:04
Like I have to pause and go, calm down. It's just a movie. Yeah
2:10
And I think there's just PTSD in terms of like the physicality of what we put ourselves through on this one And so I watching certain scenes like without giving too much away there a scene with me in a shower and i am fully nude and my character unconscious
2:26
fling and i'm flinging myself against these like hard porcelain walls this is all dave no stunt
2:32
double no special effects and so that hurt really bad so i'm watching those moments and i was like
2:39
oh like i can't believe i did that but again like every even though we were we were kind of getting
2:45
hurt daily on this one we were so excited about the material and it we just kept looking at each
2:51
other and being like i can't believe they're letting us do this like we're really pushing the boundaries and i i think our excitement just kind of superseded any pain we were feeling yeah
2:59
yeah so obviously on this this film it is horror yes you're working on it was it was it 21 days
3:06
you filmed it in yes i know okay so that's why it's majorly intense every single day there's
3:11
either heavy prosthetics or these crazy action sequences where we are flinging our bodies in
3:17
very unnatural ways coming home sore and bruised up in spots we've never been sore before but you
3:23
can imagine the adrenaline of it was really exciting too like again from an acting standpoint
3:29
there wasn't time to overthink anything yeah i think in in that way you know one of the myriad
3:35
of things that made it easier about us being a couple in real life
3:41
was this idea that we just already have a history. We love each other
3:46
We have an intimate relationship. So in these scenes, we didn't have to go through that phase
3:51
of getting to know each other or do we have a couple of takes to warm up
3:56
Because we didn't. We would get one to two takes in terms of the performance. And Dave and I trust each other more than anyone
4:03
I think it just enabled us to take big risks on the movie right away from the jump
4:08
Sometimes six in the morning, first take on set, your energy's at 100
4:13
And it's staying there the entire day. In terms of like only having one or two takes per setup
4:18
it was obviously very helpful that we were living together so we could rehearse as much as we wanted
4:23
Is there anything that you two had to do to decompress? So you're living together, obviously you're filming together
4:29
And then you know because it such an intense environment did you do anything to go home Take a little bit of me time Did you need that You know we realized that we were what we were watching was more like rom stuff I feel like we were watching romantic
4:44
like at night, we would watch, honestly, we were so exhausted from the day of shooting
4:50
that we would crash. We were binging the show one day on Netflix
4:56
Oh, really? And those episodes, it's so good. And the episodes are quite short anyway
5:01
but we would basically watch like 10 minutes of an episode and then pass out. That has nothing to do with the show
5:05
We love the show. That just shows how, yeah. With this film in particular, because obviously you've worked together in films
5:11
this is the first time you've been literally stuck together, right? Did you learn anything new about each other
5:18
just from this film's experience? What would you say? I think it just more reinforced certain feelings
5:24
that we had for each other where this is our fifth collaboration
5:27
and she, you know, She's the person that you want on any set
5:34
She comes in with this, like, really just effervescent energy. She makes everyone around her happy, which is very important on a movie like this
5:41
Because of the time frame we had, because of how ambitious it was, it could have been very stressful
5:47
But she comes in and she really sets a tone. And it's just so loose on set
5:51
It's a really, really good energy to have. Well, I would say the same about Dave
5:55
But, I mean, additionally, I guess it was just fun to get to watch Dave do things that I've never seen
6:03
I mean, because both of us are doing things in this movie we've never done before. And his energy is boundless
6:08
I mean, his character gets infected much earlier than mine in the film. And the physical things that we both had to do a lot of physical work
6:14
But, like, Dave truly every single day on set. And his energy was boundless
6:19
And with a smile on his face. And just, he makes it so real
6:25
the pain because he's really going there he's going to scream until he loses his voice
6:29
to his own detriment and i'm going to scream like someone who went to theater school
6:36
yeah and reads from the diaphragm and i just admire it i just admire it yeah thank you no your
6:43
your chemistry it just came through in this film it was just so well done it was like even to the
6:49
simplest things of a look that you give each other that you two probably wouldn't pick up on it but
6:53
but us as an audience we could just see it Like you were just so in tune with each other It was just well done We glad to hear that because we did go into this whole thing being like god if we don have chemistry that weird yeah could you imagine are these two even together how could that not affect
7:08
your relationship in real life we don't see them together at all and you're like oh uh okay
7:14
now guys we do this thing on the show called please stop asking me and i want you guys to
7:20
get involved so what it is it's uh the questions that you're a little tired of being asked time and
7:28
time again so we've had idris elba who said please stop asking me if i'm the next james bond
7:33
have you had any pop-up that us uh interviewees we just keep on asking the same question you're
7:40
just like all right now mine is please stop asking me uh for information about the community movie
7:47
and we all want the movie. The cast is game. We're all on board. But similarly
7:52
I just don't have any updates. I just don't. I simply don't have them
7:56
And, you know, it just is. That's the one just over and over again
8:00
People want any glimmer of hope. And even if I said the tiniest thing that you say
8:04
right, gets blown up out of context. She was joking about us
8:09
Made a joke about my character and Joel McHale's character, how they should have a sex scene
8:13
in the movie. People ran. Ran that one for a while. Ken Jeong
8:17
Texted me and Joel a headline being like, unhinged, Alison Green wants porno community movie
8:25
I was like, I feel like that was the context. No. But I'm not opposed
8:31
Double down it. I'm doubling down. Give me the community porno. There we go
8:36
It's out there now. Give you the work. Okay, you got it. As if you saying that is not going to now create many more
8:43
Yeah, that's it now. The only question. I gotta feed the mill, you know
8:48
Sometimes you gotta do it. And just before you go, could you make me a promise
8:52
that you're gonna stick to this genre? Just keep every now and then
8:56
Please. We've both written movies within the genre. We wanna keep going
9:00
Yes. Okay, thank you. You've made me very happy. Thank you. Love you guys. Thank you
9:04
Thank you. For sleeping over. Yeah! Thank you. And that big horror movie
9:09
Yeah, we've got one more. This is Hot. Thank you
