Well today is GCSE results day isn't it? By now you will know what you've got so either well done
0:05
or commiserations but it doesn't really matter either way your future is very much in your hands
0:10
and what happens when you're 15 or 16 years old does not define you for the rest of your life. In
0:15
fact if you're anything like me you might be a little bit of a late bloomer although I suppose
0:19
the jury's out so whether or not I have bloomed at all. Talking of which my worst GCSE was biology
0:24
however I have just managed to conceive a child so clearly I learned something. However when it
0:29
said name the parts of the plan, I just called them like Clive and Bob and Derek. So I didn't do
0:34
very well in that. But look, like I said, whatever's happened today, if it's good, well done
0:39
you deserve all the credit and it should be a lesson that's hard work has paid off. If you
0:43
managed to do well by just winging it, a bit like me, then well done. That's a talent as well. But
0:49
don't end up leaning on that too much and relying on it too much because eventually you will get
0:53
caught out and you'll feel awful. If it's all gone really badly for you, well, you're in luck
0:59
because you can re-sit them and do it again. Also, when you come for a job interview in a few years' time
1:07
no one has to see your GCSE results. No one, ever. Can't even really remember what I got
1:12
So it's really absolutely fine. You just be you. And as well, be a bit nimble as well
1:18
It's the modern world out there with all sorts of different jobs. You don't need to go and get straight A stars and then whatever else
1:22
In fact, I think the way it's going at the moment with things like positive discrimination, it's probably better for you to get into university if you haven't got any grades
1:28
So there you are. Anyway, enjoy yourself. And if it has, you know, whatever
1:33
if you've gone well or badly, it doesn't really matter. Just if you want to do some work experience here at GB News
1:37
then maybe you can. Well, have you. So as an entrepreneur, I can tell you that what's on that bit of paper
1:43
does not define your future. Follow your dreams Oh that nice Eamon There always so much concentration on people who get A and A stars and A pluses for exam
1:58
results. If you didn't do well, if you didn't come near to that, it's not the end. Don't worry
2:03
pick yourself up and start all over again. I think the biggest message today is to be really
2:09
proud of yourself. No matter what the results are, you have worked hard. This has been five years of
2:14
of your secondary school education and it all came down to this and you should be really proud
2:18
of the fact you sat those exams and whatever happens next is going to be bigger and better
2:22
and brighter and this is just one step on that journey. Look whatever happens today remember this
2:28
you just simply do not know what's around the corner. Have your aspiration, have ambition
2:33
go for it, it's not where you come from it's where you're going. Hi I'm Miriam Pace, just want to say
2:39
a massive good luck to all of you collecting your GCSE results last year. I remember that day and
2:44
the nerves but just remember however you do it's only the start of your career. There's plenty left
2:49
to come but all the best to everybody watching. Yeah I back that up. I have an excellent GCSE in
2:54
Latin which I've never used once in my life although sometimes stick with Miriam Cates. I do
2:58
need to speak an ancient language to understand what she's going on about. It's all part of the
3:03
joy though. Stick to the classics if you can and good luck if you're going on to further education
3:07
Well it's a big day today, it's GCSE results day so if you've got a child or you yourself
3:13
have been sitting these exams I hope you did really really well, I know you've probably got your results by now but don't worry if it didn't go your way today, you can always
3:21
try again or there's so many other options for you in life but I do hope you did fantastically
3:25
well and achieved what you set out to, a big good luck from GB News and congratulations
