It's called the parable of the prodigal son. The story begins. A man has two sons

The younger asks for his share of the inheritance, which is basically like wishing his father was dead

The father shockingly gives his son the inheritance and he runs off with it to a distant land

Whilst there, he splurges it all. A famine breaks out and in desperation, he gets a job feeding the pigs

In the squalor of his suffering, he realises his great mistake. As the famous Coldplay song says, when you get what you want, but not what you need

Sometimes, getting what we want is the worst thing for us, as is the case in this story

But other times, when we don't get the job we want, or we miss out on that great opportunity

it might not be what we need. As Christians we believe God always gives us what we need and offers what is good for us
