The Chibi News Daily Reflection

Hi, I'm Chris Tufnell, a vicar in the Church of England. When someone's life is suddenly transformed, it's surprising and it demands an explanation
0:17
I can't think of a more dramatic example of that than what happens to a man called Paul
0:23
He lived in the first century and we read both in the Bible and in non-Christian sources
0:29
that he was passionately hostile to the early Christian movement, hunting down its followers, putting them in prison, even overseeing their killings
0:39
By all appearances, he was the last person in the world anyone would have expected to embrace the faith he was trying to stamp out
0:50
But something happened that suddenly and completely transformed his life. He went from persecutor to preacher
0:59
from destroying churches to starting them. And Paul did not fit the profile
1:05
He wasn't a dreamer or a drifter. He had power, privilege and prestige, nothing to gain, everything to lose
1:12
His transformation can't be explained by ordinary motives or human ambition. And that's what makes his story so striking
1:23
It points to another power at work in history. Christians believe that this same power has been at work ever since transforming lives
1:33
And still today, many people are being changed when they, like Paul, encounter Jesus
