The GB News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hi, my name's Andrew Latimer. I'm a Church of England minister at Grace Church in Greenwich
0:12
Do you ever wonder where it is that we can find hope in this world? There's a place in the Gospels where a man with leprosy begs Jesus to heal him
0:20
and everyone at the time knew that touching someone with leprosy made you ceremonially unclean
0:25
back when I was a medical student. On our first day in the hospital, we had to watch a video
0:31
And the purpose of the video was to encourage us all to wash our hands. And in the video, the doctor would touch the patient's infected wound
0:38
which for the sake of the video was coloured neon green. And then they would touch the curtain
0:42
And then someone else would touch the curtain. He would then touch the notes and then the bed
0:46
And before about 10 seconds, about half the screen was now neon green
0:50
And the message was very obvious, which is that contagions spread. and this was the message of his leprosy and it was to teach us something about how sin spreads across the world And yet when Jesus was asked to heal this guy he does a shocking thing He deliberately reaches out and
1:07
he touches the man and for the first time in the history of the world something bizarre happens
1:13
Instead of sin and uncleanness flowing from the infected person to Jesus which is the way of the
1:20
world, sin spreading down through the generations and across the world, this time forgiveness and
1:25
cleansing flow from Jesus into the man. And to prove this, he's immediately cleansed from his
1:32
leprosy. And we see here something remarkable. For the first time, instead of the neon green of sin
1:38
spreading and spreading across our world, Jesus is launching something new. It's a clean-up
1:43
operation. And therefore he's launching the beginning of hope, which this world so desperately
