I'm Gary Bembridge of Tips for Travelers
0:02
In this video I'm going to talk about the eight types of travelers that I think cruising is best suited for
0:07
First of all, people who do not like flying. I know people who travel all around the world without ever stepping on a plane
0:16
So if you don't like flying but want to travel, cruising is a really great alternative
0:20
Assume of course that you can drive or train or bus to get onto a cruise ship
0:25
It unlocks the whole world without ever having to step on a plane
0:30
Second is for families. Cruising is becoming incredibly targeted and suitable for families
0:36
So if you want to go on a good value holiday, cruising is definitely something to consider
0:41
Cruise ships are increasingly targeting and catering for families. So they'll have cabins that are designed to take whole families in one cabin or they'll have
0:48
cabins with interconnecting doors so that you can still be connected with your kids but they
0:53
can have a separate cabin. They have kids clubs ranging from very young up to teenagers
0:59
The entertainment is very family friendly friendly, many of them will have family-specific excursions
1:04
Many of them will also have babysitting, which means that parents can go off and have dinner by themselves
1:09
perhaps go out gambling or dancing, knowing that their kids are looked after. You'll also find that on a per day basis is very attractive depending on which cruise lines you look at
1:18
So there are cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC cruises, carnival that really try and attract and cater for families
1:25
by making sure that they put a lot of effort into the food, the entertainment, the facilities
1:30
kids clubs and things to give parents times to themselves. If you are a family and you have kids, whether they're young kids or teenagers, cruising
1:38
is something to look at. Linked to that is multi-generational travel. So if you want to travel with your parents, your grandparents
1:46
multi travel is fantastic for cruises because you find on cruise ships there a wide range of accommodation from plush luxurious suites for perhaps part of your family that want to be pampered want to stay somewhere more exclusive right down to very inexpensive inside cabins or that have family cabins
2:02
So you'll find you can go with a whole multi-generational family and they can have all different budgets, all different interests and needs, and they can probably find a cabin that meets their needs and budgets
2:12
Also importantly, there is a wide range of activities on a cruise ship
2:15
So there'll be things for the grandparents to do, things for the parents to do, things for the kids to do, things for the kids to do
2:20
do there also be excursions which are very active through to excursions which are less active
2:25
for those people perhaps a little bit older don't want to do very active things so the great thing
2:29
is you can all go to cruise together you can have accommodation that suits you you can have activities
2:34
that suit you but you can all come together in the evenings or meals to be together so it's fantastic
2:39
for multi-generational travel or traveling as groups of families if you're a resort lover
2:44
if you love going to resorts where there's loads of things to do cruising is also a great
2:49
option. Now for this you need to focus on the really big ships and the really big cruise lines
2:53
So your Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises. They have big ships which have so much to do
2:59
They have rock climbing walls, ice rinks, bowling rinks, arcade games, lots of sports facilities
3:05
lots of swimming pools, big shows. So if you like resort-type vacations, cruising is definitely
3:11
something to take a look at. But what if you're a couple is cruising suitable for you
3:15
Absolutely. Whilst there are a whole lot of cruise lines that cater for for families. On the other side, there are cruise lines that really try and cater for couples
3:23
So there's some cruise lines that even have adult-only ships or adult-only areas
3:27
So some of the cruise lines, particularly some of the smaller cruise lines with smaller ships
3:31
they really focus on couples. So whether it's Cunards, whether it's Silver Sea, whether it's
3:35
Seaborne, whether it's Holland America, they tend to attract much more couples
3:39
Just make sure that you choose the right cruise line. Or particularly, if you go cruising on many
3:43
cruise lines out of the school holidays you find it mostly couples Also what great for couples is you can increasingly get married on board or you can renew your vows on board So that another big attraction as a couple The important
3:56
thing is bear in mind that some cruise lines are already focusing on families and some are focusing much
4:01
more on couples. So just make sure that you choose the right cruise line. What about solo travelers
4:06
Well, increasingly, many cruise lines are starting to introduce solo cabins. You'll find pretty much
4:11
every new ship that's launched has solo cabins and will have. have solo traveler programs. If you're a solo traveler I want to go cruising, focus on or
4:20
look for ships that have solo cabins because you won't have to pay the surcharge. Traditionally
4:24
as a solo cruise it wasn't great because you'd book a cabin and you'd have to pay effectively
4:28
for having two people staying there even though there was only one person. But now that there
4:32
are more and more solo cabins, it's fantastic. Some cruise lines like Norwegian have even gone to
4:37
the lengths of creating a whole solo traveler's section, which is all solo cabins. It has a
4:42
lounge and you basically have a car to get in and out of that whole solar travelers area
4:47
So increasingly solar travelers are being cater for on cruising. So if you're a solo traveler, increasingly look at cruising
4:53
Now if you have mobility restrictions, so you're in a wheelchair or can't get around
4:57
cruising is a fantastic option for travel. Obviously, if you're trying to do things like getting on planes, it can be very difficult
5:04
But the great thing about cruising is cruise lines have accessible rooms
5:08
which are designed for people in wheelchairs, so they'll have the right bathroom facilities
5:12
They'll make sure they have much more accessible storage that you can access if you're in a wheelchair, wider doors, much more space in the cabins
5:19
And also they will have facilities, for example, in the swimming pool area. Many of them will have the little winches that will lower people in and out of the swimming pools
5:27
On the excursions, there will always be excursions are designed for people with limited mobility
5:31
They really are geared to and used to dealing with people with mobility issues. So it is a much less stressful way of travelling because it going to unlock the whole world and they got lots of experience it so they know what you can can and can do Now one of the ways that cruise lines are attracting a lot of people new to cruise is by attracting them around special interests and themes
5:50
So if you're really passionate about something where it's motorcycles, particular 80s boy band, history, golf, or whether it's perhaps a gay or LGBT interests
5:59
you'll increasingly find that there are cruises which are specifically designed around interest groups
6:04
and they will either charter parts of a cruise or take over a whole cruise ship and run a very themed event
6:13
So increasingly, if you're really passionate about something and want to be surrounded by people who are also passionate about it
6:18
take a look at cruising because you might find there's a special interest or themed cruise that caters for your real passion
6:25
Pretty much every interest that you have, you'll probably find a cruise related to that
6:29
So what about older travelers? Now, cruising has a reputation of probably being for older travelers
6:34
particularly the traditional cruise lines which probably cater for an older audience and will have a slightly older audience on average on board
6:40
So some of the traditional cruise lines like Cunard Fred Olson, Princess Cruises
6:46
Voyages to Antiquity particularly if you look for cruise lines that have been around for a very long time
6:50
You'll find they have a slightly more traditional approach to cruising a slightly more formal way of cruising and it's again, it's fantastic for older travelers
6:58
Cruising of course is not for everybody But hopefully through this you've seen cruise lines are catering for different types of
7:04
of audiences. Now many of the ships they cater for all of the audiences but the important thing is
7:09
look for a cruise line that is going to reflect you. That's a great advantage of working with
7:13
a cruise agent is they can understand what you want and they will make sure that they get you
7:18
on the right cruise line. If you enjoyed this video I'd love it if you like the video
