I'm Gary beverage of tips for travelers
0:02
in this video I'm going to tell you
0:03
about 10 cruise cabins that you
0:06
absolutely should avoid if you want to
0:08
have a great cruising vacation now
0:10
before we talk about cabins to avoid
0:12
what I want to point out is there are
0:13
four basic types of cabin and
0:15
irrespective of which of these types of
0:17
cabin you choose the tips they are about
0:19
to give you will all apply so one of the
0:21
four types of cabins or the cheapest
0:23
cabin aboard is the an inside cabin now
0:25
these are cabins which have no windows
0:27
or balcony the next type of cabin is an
0:30
ocean view so these are basically cabins
0:32
which have a porthole or a window the
0:34
next type of cabin is about canoe cabin
0:36
with some is called veranda cabins these
0:38
are the most popular caverns of all
0:40
onboard cruise ships and modern cruise
0:42
ships try and have as many balcony
0:44
cabins as they possibly can the fourth
0:47
is Suites now these can range from you
0:49
know just big generous sized cabins
0:52
through to huge big luxurious almost
0:55
partment like spaces whichever one of
0:57
those four you choose my 10 tips on what
1:01
cabins to avoid apply to all of those so
1:04
let's take a look at the ten cabins that
1:06
you should absolutely avoid the first of
1:09
them is one of my big bug bears and
1:11
that's adjoining cabins many cruise
1:13
ships will have cabins with
1:15
interconnecting doors which of course
1:17
allows families or friends to be able to
1:21
move between cabins fairly easily if
1:23
you're traveling by yourself you know
1:24
just two of you in adjoining cabins can
1:27
be a nightmare there can be a lot of
1:28
noise you can hear people talking you
1:31
can hear phones ringing televisions and
1:33
it can really put a real damper on your
1:35
cruise vacations all the deck plans did
1:38
well actually identify and tell you
1:40
which are the cabins with adjoining
1:43
the second thing to avoid is cabins
1:45
underneath the pool deck take a look at
1:47
this cabin it's a very beautiful cabin
1:49
it looks magnificent however on the
1:51
cruise that I had on this particular
1:52
ship it was a nightmare it was right
1:54
underneath the pool deck there was
1:56
chairs scraping people walking past from
1:58
very in the morning to late at night at
2:00
lunch time there would be parties lots
2:02
of loud music and because you're in the
2:04
Caribbean late at night they would often
2:06
be parties and dancing on deck which
2:08
kept me awake till all hours of the
2:10
morning so avoid caverns underneath the
2:12
all deck so link to that my next tip is
2:15
avoid cabins underneath the promenade
2:17
deck many cruise ships have a deck which
2:19
goes right around the ship so people
2:21
like to walk out there people go jogging
2:23
so for example in this particular cabin
2:25
again it was a nightmare because it was
2:27
underneath the promenade deck early in
2:29
the morning of the be thump-thump-thump
2:30
of people going running there'd be
2:32
people walking at all hours of the night
2:34
and day and it was really quite
2:37
stressful being underneath the promenade
2:39
deck my next suggestion is very
2:40
carefully look at the deck plans and
2:41
avoid cabins that are near big public
2:44
areas so particularly things to look out
2:46
for are things like kids clubs where
2:48
they can be kids coming and going or
2:50
through the day and into the evening
2:51
lots of noise families kids excited you
2:54
know running about next to the theater
2:57
or big you know auditoriums where events
2:59
are held both during the day and at
3:01
night because there'll be lots of people
3:02
coming and going also those can be where
3:04
the excursion groups meet and are then
3:06
set off so there'll be a lot of talk and
3:08
noise or people coming and going from
3:10
those various venues another very
3:12
important thing to avoid is late night
3:15
and loud venues so take a look at where
3:17
the nightclubs are where the party
3:19
venues are and really avoid cabins above
3:22
or below those because you will have a
3:24
vibration noise that that bass sound
3:27
pounding away till the early hours of
3:29
the morning so make sure you avoid night
3:31
clubs and discos the next one that's
3:33
very important one take a look on the
3:35
deck plans and stay away from the
3:37
laundry because either side of the
3:40
laundry will be loved noise from the
3:41
machines also there'll be lots of people
3:43
coming and going door slamming lots of
3:45
talking people come and go all hours of
3:47
the day and although most cruise ships
3:49
have restrictions on when the machines
3:51
can start oh and they're to be switched
3:52
off not everybody sticks to those so
3:55
avoid cabins on either side of the
3:57
laundry and just opposite the laundry I
3:59
also recommend that you avoid cabins
4:01
that look on to the center of the ship
4:03
so Kristen Lian very big ships is a big
4:05
promenade that runs through the middle
4:06
of them and their cabins looking the
4:08
promenade in some ships there are you
4:11
know a few cabins overlooking things
4:12
like the central atrium of a ship I
4:16
would avoid those partly because you
4:18
don't have a lot of privacy because
4:20
people can see into your cabins but also
4:22
those promenades are often used for
4:26
you know music recycles and so it can be
4:29
very noisy my next tip is avoid cabins
4:32
with obstructed views where the
4:34
lifeboats and the tender boats are
4:36
hosted so often you'll get a cheaper
4:38
cabin because you look out and your view
4:41
is obstructed by the lifeboats and the
4:44
tender boats now the reason I said avoid
4:46
those is particularly on a you know an
4:48
itinerary which has lots of tendering
4:51
that you'll be woken up with lots of
4:53
noise of the tenders being prepared so
4:55
it can be fairly noisy so my suggestion
4:57
is to avoid cabins near crew access
4:59
areas and these are sometimes much
5:01
harder to identify and fight out so you
5:03
might want to either ask in you know
5:05
various crews related chat rooms or ask
5:07
your agent people often complain if
5:10
there are is a service door with the
5:12
crew come and go because it can be
5:13
banging lots of chewing or throwing as
5:15
people come on duty curve duty or room
5:17
service etc my next suggestion is to
5:19
avoid cabins that are on very low decks
5:20
either right at the very back near the
5:22
engine or in the very front near the
5:24
anchor lots of people who travel those
5:26
cabins complain about the vibration the
5:28
noise from the engine and also being
5:30
woken you know fairly in the morning as
5:32
the anchor gets weighed also because
5:35
it's an area often with the crew coming
5:37
and going and in lots of work so try and
5:39
avoid those well hopefully you found
5:41
that helpful and it's given you some
5:43
guidance as you look at booking a
5:45
cruise and the right cabin for you if
5:48
