How to Create and Add a Custom Header in Shopify (Step-by-Step Guide for 2024)

How to create custom header in Shopify 2020 tutorial for beginners

Hello everyone, welcome back to another video. I hope you all are doing incredible and are having an

amazing day. In this video, I'll be showing you how you're going to be able to create a custom

headers into a step-by-step tutorial in the easiest, most simplest way possible. So let's just get

straight into it. So to start things off, you're going to log in with your Shopify. Now

once you've logged in with your Shopify, you're going to make sure everything in your Shopify

it is fully set it up because if everything is not set it up you want to make sure to set

everything up so once everything is good to go uh what you're going to do from there is

you're going to come over to your settings okay and once you come over to your settings you're

going to come down to brand and once you come down to brand this is a section where you can

manage the branding of your website and different things so here it says add a default logo so i'm

just going to go ahead and do exactly the that. I'm just going to go ahead and add a default logo. I have a few logos in my downloads

I'm just going to go ahead and add a few. So let's say I have this logo over here. I'm just going

to add that. It's a basic Nike logo that I have added and I'm just going to click on done

And as you can see, it's going to add the Nike Swoosh PNG logo that I have taken off the internet

and it's going to paste it right over here. Now, once you've added that, you can add different

colors to your logo as well. Okay, and here's also a square logo that you can add, which is also a

pretty nice and fun logo you can add for yourself. So then you have colors. You can choose a primary

color for your web store. Let's say I'm going to go with, let's go with a bit of a green, okay

And once you've done that, then there's contrasting color. What color do you want it to contrast with

I'm going to go with this shade. And once you done that it going to ask you the secondary color that you want to go with I going to go with this much blue with secondary color Go with any other contrasting color if you want to go with that

I'm just going to keep it standard. And there's a slogan that you can add for yourself

I'm just going to keep something random in. Okay. And then just any short description

And once you've done all of that, we're going to click on save. Okay. And as you click on save, yeah, pretty much that's how you're going to

choose your branding. Now, once you've chosen your branding from there, what you're going to do

is you're going to come over to your online store. And once you go into your online store

you're going to be scrolling down. Okay. And as you scroll down, it's going to take you to the

themes. Okay. And in the theme section, what you're going to be doing for yourself is you're going to

add all the necessary themes that needed to be added. Because obviously without a theme

which is essentially your template. Without it, you can't really create a website now, can you

So you're going to craft some theme or, you know, add any type of theme into your store

And once you've added a theme, you're obviously going to go into the more

you could say, detailed stuff, which is actually customizing that theme or customizing your actual store

Now, when it comes to the actual customization of your store, you are going to be one of good working well with the actual Shopify editor because if you don't know how to work with the editor or the actual customizer Shopify, then obviously this is going to be a bit difficult for you

But don't worry, I'm going to be walking you through all those steps and we're going to talk in great detail on how a custom header is going to be created

So to start things off, here are the themes down here that you can choose from

which you've chosen the themes, you're going to click on customize. Now, as you click on customize, it's going to load things up

and as it load things up it going to look someone like this So this is your basic theme Now up here as you can see this is your announcement bar right Now this is a pretty fun little thing that you can mess around with

So first of all, let's give it a darker scheme. There we go

Now once you've done that, you can change the text in it

OK, if you want to, like let's say we want to change

You can go into this theme settings. You can see which providers it actually connects itself to

I'm going to just click on say real quick. just to fix that. Once you do that, you're going to click on Welcome to our store over here

And you can change this to whatever you want. Okay. So let's say I can write, um, get 20% discount right now

A percent discount on all products. You're just going to go ahead and write that

Uh, and you know, you can, uh, mess with the announcement bar like this

Now once you've done that, you can also add a link to a certain page

If you want to, that's obviously your announcement bar. Then down here, this is obviously your header, okay

This is the header section where you can add different navigations and add different widgets

And obviously, I'm going to show you how you can customize your header even more

So I'm going to save it right now and we're going to go back into our Shopify dashboard

And once you're into your Shopify dashboard, we're going to go over to navigation. Okay

And as you come over to navigation, we're going to add a few navigate free things

in the main menu. Your main menu is obviously the header menu that you can see up there

So you're going to click on add menu item. And let's say I want to add an About Us page

So I'm going to write About Us. Okay. And obviously it's a search or paste a link

And we're going to go in pages. And you can see we don't have an account about us page, do we

So we need to create an About Us page. So to create an About Us page, what we will do is we're going to go over to pages

And once you go over to pages over here, you're going to create an About Us page. you going to get the option to create a page So we going to click on add page And once you click on add page it going to give us the option to go ahead and create the page for ourselves you just going to write about us you know add some detailings for this

page if you want to and once you do that you're going to click on save click on save and now we're

going to go back into navigation once you go into navigation you're going to go into main menu

once you do that click on add menu go on about us write about us and then you're going to click

you're going to click on search or paste a link, click on page. Okay

And once you click on page, there you can see About Us. So we're just going to click on Add, and as you can see about us

it's going to be added into your navigation menu. So we're just going to click Save Menu

And once you click Save Menu, it's going to save all those necessary things for you. And once you do that, we're going to come back to our online store

We're going to go into Customize. And once you go into Customize, you're going to come over here and there

You can see you have a custom navigation link over here now. or about us. So moving on when it comes to editing your header, you can add more blocks into your

header. Okay, you can add different app blocks, theme blocks. You can change the scheme of your header

You can make your header dark. You can make your headers font different and a whole lot more

So those are basically the ways you can add different things about your header. And then you can also

add a logo into your header. So let's say I'm going to go ahead on change

I'm going to go on change menu. Okay. And you can create a different type of menu for this certain menu that you have

You know, how incredible. So pretty easy, pretty fun stuff to get your head around

And it's a very general idea of how you're going to create a header for yourself

So yeah, that's pretty much about it. That's how you're going to create and add a custom header in Shopify and customize it for yourself
