Peachy takes you through two ways to paint the Gallowdark scenery from the Kill Team Into the Dark boxset. The first is using Dirty Down rust and the second using regular citadel paints to achieve a rust like effect.

hi I'm peachy and I forgot my words
0:03
already
0:06
hello I'm peachy and in this video we're
0:09
going to show you how to paint the
0:10
galadart scenery found in the into the
0:12
dark kilting box set now this is the
0:14
final part of the three-part Series
0:16
where we're taking you through how to
0:17
paint absolutely everything in that box
0:19
set so if you want to know how to pick
0:20
the Navy breaches for the crookkin band
0:22
check out those separate videos if you
0:23
want now to do that so today I'm going
0:26
to be a wizard and show you how to turn
0:28
plastic to rust
0:31
welcome to the painting page
0:36
now painted scenery can be quite
0:38
off-putting as there's lots of little
0:39
details such as skulls
0:41
skulls and even more skulls and don't
0:43
forget all those light bulbs so there's
0:46
quite a lot to pick out well today what
0:47
we're going to do is take you through a
0:49
really quick and efficient way of
0:50
painting your scenery from a Gala dark
0:52
set with minimal effort now granted
0:54
there will be a little bit of detail to
0:56
pick out but you know what it's optional
0:57
don't have to do it so let's get
0:59
cracking now I've been made aware the
1:01
gala dark scenery doesn't fit so snug
1:03
once it's been painted so all those
1:04
connectors actually stop you from
1:06
pushing it together now as opposed to
1:08
tediously masking everything off as I've
1:10
seen a lot of people do what I'm going
1:12
to do is just build two big long
1:13
duplicate lengths of the actual
1:16
gallardox scenery and then spray them as
1:17
a solid thing as you can Witness by my
1:20
mighty length here
1:21
[Music]
1:23
first of all what I'm going to do is
1:25
undercoat the entire length using Chaos
1:27
Black and once I've done that I'm just
1:29
going to dust over the top with some
1:30
lead Belcher if you spray this whilst
1:32
it's wet you do get a better blend
1:38
with indicator done what we're now going
1:39
to do is apply dirty down rust now this
1:41
is new to me so I've never used it
1:43
before I'm very excited about using it
1:44
now there are many ways to apply this
1:46
one is to apply it to the model straight
1:47
from the pot and work it in like so once
1:49
applied use heat to help the effect here
1:51
I've used a hair dryer
1:54
foreign
1:56
which I prefer is to apply a dollop or
1:59
two into the lid add several brushes of
2:01
water like so then whilst it's on the
2:03
wall section douse it in water then for
2:05
heavier rustier patches grab some
2:08
straight from the pot and slap it on
2:09
whilst it's wet this method not only
2:11
helps taint the wall section it looks
2:13
more random and effective and the beauty
2:14
of this by thinning it down is it allows
2:16
your rust paint to go a lot further
2:18
we've used slightly less than one pot of
2:20
dirty down with enticenium set
2:22
[Music]
2:32
back
2:35
[Music]
2:47
although using the dirty Dam rust is a
2:49
personal favorite of mine not everybody
2:51
has this Potter paint at home so what
2:53
we're going to do is do an alternate
2:54
version just using some Citadel paints
2:56
which you might have scattered around
2:57
so after our undercoat what we're going
2:59
to do is heavily thin down more and Fang
3:01
Brown so we're probably looking at one
3:02
paintbrush's worth of morning Fang Brown
3:03
and six paint brushes of water and we're
3:06
just going to coat over the entire
3:07
scenery just keep working into those
3:08
crevices and creases and you might see
3:10
it pulled away here and there just keep
3:11
working at it and once it's dry you'll
3:14
get a nice coat or at least a ton of
3:15
brown and then after the morning brown
3:17
all we can then do is just apply cross
3:19
layer orange with the same mix and again
3:21
that's just going to add to that rust
3:22
effect
3:23
[Music]
3:26
foreign
3:29
ly to add a bit of texture especially
3:31
around near the base of the scenery or
3:33
corridors we're going to use some typhus
3:34
corrosion now you want to use an old
3:36
brush here because this will mess up
3:37
your brush
3:40
with our rust effects now applied
3:42
regardless of which one you choose we're
3:44
now going to move on to our next steps
3:45
and first of all we're going to use bar
3:46
red here this is to pick out some nice
3:48
spot colors so we're looking at picking
3:49
out the odd light valves as well as like
3:52
things around doors and handles as well
3:54
now the bar red I'm using it straight
3:55
from the pot and don't worry it may look
3:57
quite bright to start off with but as it
3:59
dries it will dull down and fit nicely
4:01
with your ancient corridors
4:03
[Music]
4:11
now even though I'm really happy with
4:13
this rust effect what I'm going to do is
4:15
just pick out some of those edges a
4:17
little bit using a dry brush of iron
4:18
hand steel again just working gently
4:20
from the top and I'm just picking out a
4:22
few subtle ones here and there you don't
4:23
have to go over the entire Corridor
4:25
section don't forget to do this on all
4:28
your little bits of scatter as well as
4:29
all those barricades
4:31
[Music]
4:41
thank you
4:43
foreign
4:47
[Music]
4:51
corridors rusted up a bit of spot color
4:53
applied here and there and some dry
4:54
brushing done you could just leave it at
4:56
that however I'm just going to add some
4:58
extra details I'm going to pick out some
4:59
TV screens or consoles or terminals
5:02
however you want to refer to it so first
5:04
of all we're going to be using some
5:05
Grace here I'm going to thin it down
5:06
slightly so I get a nice even coat build
5:07
up a couple of times but what you will
5:09
find is it will mix in with that dirty
5:11
down rust if you've gone for that option
5:13
if you haven't then it won't do that but
5:15
if it does it will add to that effect
5:17
which will look quite nice it'll make
5:19
you look a little bit tainted so with
5:21
using the grace here we're just picking
5:22
out those Terminals and consoles if you
5:24
want to just pick out the old one here
5:25
and there as the ship is probably
5:26
Millennial old and most have stopped
5:28
working
5:30
foreign
5:42
get some corandorus green and just apply
5:44
that over those consoles I'm applying it
5:47
quite heavily and as you'll notice on
5:49
some of the sections where I've not
5:50
actually painted the console to grades
5:51
here I'm also applying it there because
5:52
they're turned off or just not working
6:01
[Music]
6:18
thank you
6:23
we've got quick and easy consoles now
6:25
done what we're now going to do is move
6:26
on to picking out those skulls scattered
6:28
across again they're only random ones
6:29
here and there and for that we're just
6:31
using a bit of screaming school and just
6:32
gently dry brushing over the top and to
6:34
tying those details with the rest of the
6:36
gala dark scenery what we're now going
6:37
to do is get some dirty down rust again
6:39
mixing it down like we're done in the
6:41
lid I'm just going to apply this over
6:42
those details and that will help add age
6:45
and make it look nice and corroded so it
6:47
doesn't just stand out to you for our
6:49
crate what we're going to do is pick
6:51
those out of an undercoat of death guard
6:52
green because we undercoated our crute
6:54
in the crew video with death guard green
6:55
if you don't have any death guard green
6:57
any undercoat will do here whether it's
6:59
red blue gray doesn't really matter what
7:01
we're going to do is get some dirty damp
7:03
rust not a surprise thin it down and
7:06
just smother those crates in it and in
7:09
some places all I'm going to do here is
7:11
just get some neat dirty down rust just
7:13
for like some nice rust effects and just
7:15
splotch it on like so with our corridors
7:18
and Scatter scenery now thoroughly
7:19
weathered our Gala dark scenery is
7:21
finished
7:22
and it only took me about five hours
7:24
here though so that's pretty good going
7:26
now if you want to know how to paint our
7:27
Navy breaches and our crew to kill team
7:29
just check out the links here
7:32
you'll be able to see how we did those
7:33
as well now there's a whole bunch of
7:34
links in the description below

7:56
we've tried to do is minimize the paint

8:02
just so you don't have a metric ton of
8:04
paint to try and do this set now I hope
