Steve Bannon Gets Big Victory Moments After Judge Sentences Him to 4 Months in Jail

Okay, so today, US District Court Judge Carl Nichols sentenced Steve Bannon to four months in prison

Now, the prosecution was seeking six months. The judge settled on four months

and it was all based on him defying a congressional subpoena. There are not a lot of prosecutions for defying congressional subpoenas

and there's even less convictions for defying congressional subpoenas. So it raised a lot of questions among people

about why exactly Steve Bannon was so special that he was prosecuted, convicted

and then, of course, sentenced to four months. Now, by the letter of the law, he's guilty

and the sentence is appropriate by the letter of the law. However, the judge did decide that he could remain free

while he's appealing the case because the appeal is going to take more than four months

There'd be no point to have him serve the four months, and then if he wins the appeal

oh, well, we've overturned the conviction, but you've already served your time

So the judge was smart about that. Now, the judge is a Trump appointee, so nobody's going to say it's biased or this or that

The judge said these are very serious charges, that a very serious thing happened on January 6th

which is true, and he said he has to pay the price for that

But Steve Bannon, there's no evidence that he orchestrated anything on January 6th

This is simply for defying a congressional subpoena. Now, in this reporter's opinion, it's about wagging his finger

It's about wagging his finger in the face of the people who think they own him and think they own me

and think they own you and think they own all of us

And it's basically him telling them, well, you don't own me. And I think that's what they're really mad about

I think as you see more and more people from the Trump orbit get prosecuted

you're going to learn, or at least you're going to suspect, that a lot of this prosecution has to do with the fact

that they're still angry that he won in 2016. That's, again, just my opinion

Those aren't the facts. The facts are he was convicted. It's on appeal

He's sentenced to four months, and he may get that overturned. Those are the facts

My opinion is if he wasn't Steve Bannon, who worked on former President Donald Trump's campaign

who worked in former President Donald Trump's White House, who wasn't prosecuted in a Washington, D.C. court

which I think is very important here, then you'd have a different outcome

or I should say a court near Washington, D.C. You'd have a very different outcome here

in my opinion. And again, we're all entitled to our opinions. I'm not presenting it as fact

You're free to make up your own mind about what you think happened, why you think he was prosecuted

but I think he's going to win on appeal. I personally do think he will win on appeal

I think this is a travesty of justice, and I think that the time has come

for people to say, look, enough. Enough of you people in Washington, D.C

trying to stomp down conservatives, trying to tell us you own us, trying to tell us that you're in charge

Enough of it. And I think Steve Bannon is a guy who's made mistakes

We all have. We are all flawed. We all fall short of his glory, the glory of God

But I think Steve Bannon's a good man. I think he loves his country

and I think he's trying to do what he can in his lifetime
