Hey ladies and gentlemen this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and the situation has
0:05
gone from bad to worse for New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez
0:11
Before we get started please make sure you like, comment, share and subscribe
0:15
Those little things really help us out and they help our channel continue to grow
0:20
So the New Jersey Senator has been charged in a bribery scheme along with his wife
0:26
Now what we know so far is that agents found gold bars, luxury cars, jewelry and cash into
0:34
the hundreds of thousands possibly extending into the millions of dollars. This was said to be part of a bribery scheme for the Senator to use his power and influence
0:45
to help out another company. What people don't or may not be aware of is he barely skated by on a similar charge about
0:53
seven years ago. If this is true you have to wonder what was he thinking
1:00
Did he think because he got away with it once that it would just be easy to get away with
1:04
it again? Did he believe that the Democrat run Justice Department or in this case the Southern District
1:11
of New York would just not investigate him? Would just let it slide
1:17
You know a lot of times I think maybe Democrats believe that there is two tiers of justice
1:21
and I think maybe he thought that and has gotten a wake-up call
1:25
But it's gotten worse. A plethora of top Democrats have called on him to resign from the Senate immediately
1:35
Among those people was New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. Phil Murphy said that the charges are so serious, the allegations so severe that he does not
1:46
believe that Senator Menendez can continue to serve in his role as Senator of the state
1:51
of New Jersey. Mikey Sherrill, a Democrat representative from New Jersey, has also called on the Senator
1:58
to resign. And there's been a chorus of other New Jersey Democrats that have joined in that basic call
2:06
to have him resign his position. I don't believe he can withstand this without resigning
2:11
I think that the calls are going to get louder and louder. I think they're going to come from more people
2:16
Now one important voice is New York Senator Charles Schumer. He is the Senate Majority Leader
2:24
He basically just said that Mr. Menendez has faithfully served the people of New Jersey
2:30
and he's always fighting for New Jersey and all that stuff. But he didn't weigh in on whether or not he should resign
2:37
And I think as the chorus starts to get stronger and you're going to get maybe a Schumer involved
2:43
there, that it's going to... Because listen, they're going to be hammered with this question
2:48
The press is going to hammer them with this question on a daily basis
2:52
And there's almost no way Biden's going to be asked this question. The press secretary, Kareem Jean-Pierre, is going to be asked this question
2:58
They're all going to be asked this question. And if you are going to sit there in one camp and say we need to prosecute former President
3:05
Donald Trump for this, that and the other, there's no way you can sit there and say
3:11
we don't want Menendez to resign. They've put themselves in a pickle here
3:18
And there's really no way out of it other than really putting the pressure on Menendez
3:23
to resign his position in the Senate. Now, he's supposed to be up for re-election next year
3:28
I don't see that happening. I believe this is the end of the line for him
3:32
I believe his career, three decades, been a great career. It's going to probably end in prison
3:38
But I think it's over here. And I think he will end up in prison on this
3:41
I think he's not getting away with this one. The evidence is so strong
3:46
And if you take a look at it, and I advise you to do so, the evidence is so overwhelming
3:52
I cannot imagine a scenario where this man does not end up behind bars for this
3:59
Not only do I believe he's guilty, I think the evidence shows that he's guilty
4:03
Of course, everybody's innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
4:07
And we abide that. We absolutely abide by those standards. But the evidence is brutal here for Menendez
4:15
There's no way around it. And if I were him, I'd cut a plea as soon as I could
4:22
I'd resign and I'd cut a plea. I want to know what you guys think about this
4:25
So please let me know in the comments. Should he resign? Should he go to jail
4:30
What do you think is going to happen? Let me know. Also, please remember to like, share, and subscribe because that really helps us out
