we already know just how good the mclaren 600 lt is here at evo it is for the next few weeks at
0:18
least still our current car of the year but before it gets superseded as evo's current champ
0:25
we wanted to find out once and for all just how quick the mighty 600lt is around the coastal
0:33
circuit at anglesey in this case the car wears a set of pirelli's optional trofeo r tires which
0:41
generate massive grip in perfect conditions i.e when it's nice and warm and the track is bone dry
0:48
trouble is on the day we finally got to time the lt it was quite cold and the track wasn't
0:57
perfectly dry in places this however is how it went when the conditions improved towards the end
1:04
of the day and this was the exact same day on which we timed the ferrari 488 pista by the way
1:11
which did a time of one minute 10.8 so there you go with a bit of persuasion and some caution in places too
2:48
The 600LT clocked a time of 1 minute 12.4 seconds. In perfect conditions, it might just have ducked into the high 11s, maybe
3:00
But even so, its time was still two tenths quicker than we managed in a McLaren P1 on P0 courses a few years ago
3:09
So not exactly a bad result, all things considered. And even if it wasn't just as ballistic against the stopwatch as we'd hoped, the 600LT was still a fantastic thing to try and get a lap time out of subjectively
3:25
It had pin-sharp steering, massive balance on or near the limit, immense brakes, and just a crazy combination of acceleration and traction
3:37
and that's why, for the time being at least, it remains our car of the year
3:45
As ever, cheers for watching
