Well, hi everybody. It's David George Brooks, that gratitude guy with the
0:03
Gratitude Podcast interview. Today, yet another good friend, my good friend Ashley Womack from back in Indiana, I believe, but that's right, Indiana, right
0:14
Indiana, yep. That's right. Anyway, welcome to the podcast, Ashley. Oh, did you hear
0:24
that? Oh, yeah. There we go. Okay. I never should have said anything
0:29
So, just a couple of quick questions, and you think about Ashley and hubby and
0:33
kiddies. What has been your best coping mechanism to deal with this pandemic
0:38
I think probably, honestly, just choosing my attitude. We have small kids, one of
0:46
who's kind of aware of what's going on and the other one who's just thrilled
0:49
we're all home. So, just choosing to have a good attitude. There's a lot of scary
0:56
stuff happening in the world right now, but choosing to appreciate that we get
1:00
to be together right now. We'll probably never get this much one-on-one time with
1:05
each other, which is good or bad depending on how you look at it. But, I
1:08
think, yeah, just choosing to be in a good attitude every day. I mentioned that in
1:14
talks about things that are a choice. It's a choice to be grateful, a choice to be happy or sad or up or down, and I just, people argue me about that. I go, no, no
1:21
no. Every day you get up, you make a choice. That's a great choice. Speaking of that, we've got such uncertain times. What do you think
1:28
you're most grateful for today? Everything's green outside. Indiana has a slow spring and it's finally starting to look green outside, which is making being
1:39
inside a little bit more bearable. Excellent, excellent. That's a good one
1:44
We forget that, too. I live in Seattle and it's so green out here and it does rain a little bit, but green is a predominant color, which is really neat
1:50
Any tips, thoughts, ideas for people that are going through this that might
1:56
help them that have worked for you? Getting outside every day, if you can
2:02
Just getting some fresh air, being somewhere physically different. We've made a big deal a couple times a week. We're trying to support the local
2:11
restaurants around us, so we're placing a carryout order. It gets us out of the house
2:20
It's a change of scenery. If you can, take a walk. Take a walk just to change up the scenery a little bit because it can get
2:29
monotonous. Being in the same environment, being at home all the time. That would
2:33
be probably my biggest tip, which is you try to get yourself a little bit of a change of pace. Good idea, good idea. Lastly, does Ashley have a... I love to
2:42
talk about people in third person. Does Ashley have a quote or a philosophy that
2:47
kind of sustains you, whether it's through this or anything when you're going through challenging times? This is something like kind of a mantra or
2:54
anything you kind of go back to that kind of helps you through times like
2:57
this? I guess for me, when I'm in a... ...be the big picture and remember is get through a minute or ten minutes or
3:13
an hour. So when I've been through stressful situations, that really helps
3:18
me that this isn't the ending point. It's just a moment along the road and that
3:23
there's going to be more to come. So that's... I really try to keep a big
3:27
picture outlook and that usually helps me in stressful situations and stuff
3:32
like that. That's excellent. I mentioned that doing these is helping me get
3:35
little tidbits and things to help other people and there's nothing better than helping other people. A number of people have said this too shall pass, which is
3:42
something so important to remember because this is the biggest thing probably most of us will ever go through. I mean, even being on the planet a long
3:49
time, this is gonna be number one for me and you think about I was alive
3:54
and Kennedy was killed and 9-11 and so forth. But yeah, this is gonna be at the
3:58
top. So just remembering that that's really good. That's really good. Cool. So
4:03
excellent. Well, thank you for those sage words of advice and thoughts and all
4:08
that kind of stuff and we will chat soon. All right. Sounds good. Thanks so much
4:13
Thanks, Ashley
