In this week's captivating project, I transformed a piece of rustic burl wood into a stunning, dried flower-adorned dragon egg. The journey began with carefully preparing the burl's surface by coating it in a layer of quick-drying resin, followed by a vibrant wash of colour. With delicate precision, I then arranged a medley of dried flowers, creating a unique and enchanting design. To preserve this exquisite creation, I carefully cast the piece in crystal-clear, deep pour epoxy resin. After a week of curing, the egg emerged, ready to take shape on my woodturning lathe. With meticulous attention to detail, I sanded the egg to a smooth 3000 grit finish and polished it to a mirror-like shine.
