Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt has said that the main global tariff – the flat 10 per cent levy slapped on imported goods into the US – will not expire until 1st August. There is a new 25 per cent tariff on all goods imported from Japan and South Korea, and new punitive rates on countries including Malaysia, Kazakhstan and South Africa.
