Welcome to day two of 30 mixed media
0:03
cards to make with your craft supplies
0:05
at home. You don't need to be a
0:06
specialist card maker, but every time
0:09
we're doing a different card. So, today
0:12
we're going to be working on this card
0:13
with some really simple techniques that
0:15
you can adapt with all the materials you
0:17
have. Okay, so let's get started.
0:20
This card couldn't be simpler. It's
0:23
literally sticking, cutting, and
0:26
sticking. It's great to do with kids,
0:28
actually. is using decopage. So, you
0:31
just need a PVA based glue. You might
0:34
get a decopage glue like Modge Podge,
0:36
but to be honest, any PVA glue, and you
0:38
cover the front of your card with the
0:40
PVA glue, place on some bits of paper
0:44
and cover them over with glue to stick
0:46
them down. And that's it. Now, the idea
0:49
I've got here is using old book pages
0:52
and old music notes, so you get a really
0:55
vintage feel to your card. Now,
0:57
obviously you could use whatever you
0:59
want. Um, another great source for cards
1:02
like this is magazines and newspapers,
1:05
especially if you want kids to make
1:07
loads of them. But, as you can see, you
1:10
just keep adding your glue to the card,
1:13
place your piece of paper, and then glue
1:17
over the top. Now, I tend to make sure
1:19
they all overlap, and I'm going to make
1:21
sure the whole front of the card's
1:22
covered, but again, it's your
1:24
creativity. You could leave gaps. You
1:26
could do some stamping, some painting,
1:29
some coloring in anything you like. But
1:32
as you can see, I have done a sort of
1:35
basic plan of right, I'll do some music
1:37
to the left, music to the right, and
1:39
just try and make it a little bit uh
1:43
but that's up to you. You don't have to.
1:45
Another idea is to use wedding pictures.
1:48
If you're wanting to do a wedding cards,
1:50
you could take them from wedding
1:51
magazines and broches and things. um or
1:54
even use photographs, but just be a
1:57
little bit careful that you don't make a
1:58
mess of your photos. Remember, they'll
2:00
be quite thick unless you print them out
2:02
yourself, in which case you might make
2:04
the ink run. So, just be a bit cautious
2:06
with photos. But you can see this is
2:08
building up. And you could even add more
2:10
layers. You could do what you wanted. Um
2:13
so, I hope you're enjoying this and
2:16
please give me a thumbs up below if you
2:17
are. This is only card two of 30, so
2:20
we've got lots more ideas coming.
2:23
And I'm hoping that you'll see how easy
2:28
they are. And it is literally using
2:30
supplies you've already got. And you'll
2:33
notice as I'm getting to the bottom,
2:35
there may need to be a little tweaking,
2:36
a little cutting something down to go
2:38
in. So, I'll just do that and then leave
2:43
it all to dry. And that's the front of
2:45
the card done. And then it's a case of
2:48
adding a greeting if you want to. Now,
2:50
if you want some of the greetings I've
2:52
got for free, there's a link in the
2:53
description below and hopefully on the
2:55
screen if I'd remembered. And I like to
2:57
stick my greeting on using the little
2:59
sticky pads that raise it up to give you
3:01
a bit of a 3D effect. You could, of
3:04
course, just stick it straight on using
3:06
your PVA glue or a glue stick. And I've
3:09
gone for happy retirement. And I think
3:11
that fits nicely with the old music and
3:14
old book pages. There's certainly a
3:16
whole raft of people that would be very
3:18
suitable for. So, I hope you've enjoyed
3:21
it and if card three is available
3:23
already, it'll be on the screen for you
3:25
to watch now. And I hope you'll join me
3:28
for the series. There's a whole playlist
3:31
and the link will be in the description
3:34
Happy card making. You really can do
3:36
this without loads of specialist
