Welcome to day 18 of the mixed media
0:03
card challenge. 30 cards using craft
0:06
supplies you'll have at home. So today
0:09
we're going to be making this card. And
0:11
if you want to find any of the other
0:12
videos, they're in the description
0:13
below. But today, let's get started.
0:17
I'm just using a piece of card folded in
0:19
half. Or you could use a card blank if
0:21
you have them. And I've simply cut lots
0:23
of images out of a magazine that all
0:26
relate to weddings cuz I'm doing an
0:27
anniversary card. Now, you could do this
0:29
style of card for another event and have
0:31
different sorts of images in the
0:32
background. But really, all I'm doing is
0:37
So, whatever images you've got, whatever
0:39
shape you cut them out, you can build
0:41
your own collage. So, you can see all
0:43
I'm doing is placing them on, having a
0:45
go, having a feel, letting them overlap.
0:48
So, don't be afraid to do that. Equally,
0:50
don't be afraid to leave gaps. Or maybe
0:53
even before you collage, you might want
0:55
to color your card in. You might want to
0:57
paint it, perhaps have a little design
0:59
in the background that shows through.
1:02
This is all about getting creative and
1:03
doing your own card. You'll see I've
1:05
left a little bit on the top of the card
1:07
there that's not covered. And that's
1:10
deliberate because I'm going to put a
1:11
bit of detail in there, which I'll show
1:12
you later on really towards the end. And
1:15
you can see I've nearly covered it, the
1:17
whole thing. And that's the idea for me.
1:20
Now, you could leave some of the
1:21
background showing, but I just wanted to
1:23
cover the whole thing. And I'm just
1:25
using an ordinary glue stick. Nothing
1:27
fancy. It's just paper. And you could
1:29
then add a greeting on top. And these
1:33
greetings are available for free on my
1:34
website. So you can follow the link on
1:36
the screen or in the description below.
1:38
But I want to cover some lace over. I
1:40
think it makes it very weddingy. So I've
1:43
got this very fine, delicate stuff here.
1:45
It wasn't expensive. In fact, it was
1:48
very, very inexpensive at a local fabric
1:50
shop. Um, and I thought it'd be perfect
1:52
for crafts. And I'm just going to cut it
1:54
so that it approximately fits. I'm not
1:56
too worried because I'm just going to
1:59
make it so it pretty much fits. You
2:01
could do a small piece of this. You
2:04
could bunch some up and make a little
2:05
decorative feature like a flower out of
2:08
it, but I'm just going to cover the
2:10
whole thing. Um, yeah, I'm just going to
2:12
trim it down a little bit more before I
2:14
put it on. But it's about your
2:18
creativity. So, don't feel it has to be
2:20
exactly the same as mine. just because
2:23
I'm covering pretty much the whole
2:25
thing. So, if you're enjoying this
2:27
video, could you give it a thumbs up
2:29
below so it spreads to more people cuz
2:31
that's how the YouTube algorithm works.
2:34
And you can see that's given a really
2:36
nice effect. You can see the pictures
2:37
underneath, but it's put a nice lace
2:40
cover. So, I'm just going to use the
2:42
same glue. And that'll be absolutely
2:45
fine if you've got a fine lace like
2:46
this. If you have a big heavy piece of
2:49
lace that you're putting over a small
2:50
part of the card, you'd probably need to
2:53
use an allpurpose glue or a hot melt
2:55
glue gun. But for some fine lace like
2:57
this, it'll be be great just with the
2:59
ordinary glue stick. And so let's pop
3:04
Yeah, I like that. And then it's time
3:06
for the greeting in the middle. So to
3:08
give a bit of depth, I'm going to use
3:10
the small foam pads, which I'm sure
3:12
you've seen. Um, there is a list of what
3:15
I've used underneath anyway, so you can
3:17
take a look, but they just pop your
3:19
greeting out off the card a little bit.
3:22
And they're self adhesive on both sides.
3:24
You just got to take the protective
3:25
paper off and then position it where you
3:29
want. I'm going for the middle. Depends
3:31
what else you've got going on. And then,
3:34
as I say, I've left a little bit at the
3:36
top. Oh, hang on. That lace is sticking
3:38
out. I'll just cut that off.
3:41
I've left a little bit of card at the
3:42
top and I'm just going to draw
3:49
little sweet hearts, just cuz it's a
3:51
wedding anniversary card. So, I hope
3:54
you've enjoyed it and I hope you've
3:55
enjoyed making yours alongside
3:58
and that you'll enjoy this whole series
4:00
of cards. So, happy card making.
