Hey, so your Mazda CX3 is bugging you
0:02
with that little wrench icon or oil
0:04
change due message on the dash even
0:06
though you just changed the oil. Yeah,
0:07
that's super common. It trips people up
0:09
all the time. What's up? I'm Tom from
0:11
Car Justify. I've been wrenching on cars
0:13
for over 15 years, and today I'm going
0:15
to show you how to reset that oil
0:17
service light on your CX3 in under 2
0:19
minutes. Seriously, this one's easy. No
0:20
tools needed. All right, so here's the
0:23
deal. When you get your oil changed,
0:25
either you do it yourself or at a shop,
0:27
the car doesn't automatically know the
0:28
oil's fresh, you've got to manually
0:31
reset that reminder through the dash.
0:33
And if you don't, it'll keep blinking at
0:35
you like it's trying to guilt trip you
0:36
into a second oil change. Yeah, not
0:39
helpful. Now, this works for most CX3
0:41
models from around 2016 to 2021. If
0:44
you've got one of those, you're good to
0:46
go. Let's jump in. First thing, hop in
0:48
the driver's seat and make sure the
0:50
ignition is on, but don't start the
0:52
engine. So, press the start button once
0:54
with your foot off the brake. You want
0:56
the dash lights to come on, but the
0:58
engine to stay off. Got it? Cool. Next,
1:01
look at your center display. That screen
1:03
where your radio and stuff shows up.
1:06
You're going to use the little command
1:07
knob down on the center console near the
1:09
gear shifter. That twisty knob thing.
1:12
Yeah, that one. Twist and press to
1:14
navigate like an old school iPod. Go
1:16
ahead and twist it to the left until you
1:18
land on the applications menu. Then
1:20
press down to enter. Now scroll down
1:22
until you see maintenance. That's where
1:24
all your service reminders live. Tap
1:26
into that and then go into oil change.
1:29
You'll see the mileage countdown or the
1:30
due date depending on how it was set
1:32
before. Once you're in there, just hit
1:34
reset. It'll ask if you're sure. Go
1:36
ahead and confirm. Boom. Done. That's
1:39
it. Light goes off, car's happy, and you
1:41
don't have to stare at that little
1:42
wrench anymore. Now, real quick, if that
1:45
menu looks different or you don't see
1:47
applications, don't panic. Some earlier
1:50
CX3 models, especially outside North
1:52
America, use a slightly different
1:54
layout. In that case, you might find the
1:56
reset option under settings, then
1:58
vehicle, then maintenance. It's the same
2:00
idea, just buried in a different spot.
2:03
Also, if your display screen is
2:05
completely blank or frozen, try turning
2:07
the ignition off, wait a few seconds,
2:08
and turn it back on again. Sometimes the
2:10
system just needs a little digital slap.
2:12
seen it happen more than once. And hey,
2:15
if none of that's working and your oil
2:16
light stays on even after the reset,
2:18
double check that the oil change
2:20
reminder was actually turned on in the
2:22
system before. If it wasn't activated,
2:24
the reset won't do anything. Go back
2:26
into that maintenance section and make
2:28
sure it's enabled for oil changes. One
2:31
more little tip. While you're in the
2:33
maintenance menu, you can also set
2:34
reminders for tire rotation or other
2:36
stuff. Might as well set those now while
2:38
you're already there, right? All right,
2:41
quick recap. Ignition on but engine off.
2:43
Use the center knob to go to
2:45
applications, then maintenance. Hit oil
2:47
change and press reset. Takes maybe a
2:50
minute tops. No OBD scanner needed, no
2:52
special tools, just a few button
2:54
presses. And hey, if this helped you
