Download free Excel spreadsheet templates for Darcy Weisbach equation/pipe flow calculations. Frictional head loss and pressure drop can be calculated for given pipe flow rate, pipe diameter and length, pipe roughness, and fluid density and viscosity. Also the required pipe diameter to carry a given flowrate with a maximum allowable head loss can be calculated. The Excel formulas use an iterative procedure to calculate the friction factor, f, because the most general equation gives f as a function of the Reynolds number, the ratio of pipe roughness to pipe diameter, and f, so the equation can't be solved explicitly for f.
