Honoring The Juneteenth Generation

0 views Jun 20, 2025

For me, the Juneteenth Holiday is not about celebrating an individual hero like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or celebrating outstanding figures during Black History Month, but about honoring an entire generation: The JUNETEENTH GENERATION, born between 1864 and 1930. Meet my personal hero from that generation, my paternal grandfather, Rev. Adam Marshal Edmond. Born in 1910, he lived to age 98, passing just before Barack Obama earned the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. I hope my grandfather’s story will inspire you to learn about and celebrate members of Generation Juneteenth this holiday and every year.
