Welcome to our daily encounter with the Word of God! Today, we reflect on the day’s readings from the Book of Exodus (Exodus 14:5-18) and the Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 12:38-42). These passages invite us to trust in God's power in the face of adversity and to recognize the signs of His presence among us. First Reading (Exodus 14:5-18): The dramatic moment from Exodus shows the people of Israel trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the sea. Despite the miracles already witnessed, the Egyptians pursue them. Yet, at that desperate moment, God acts with power. He commands Moses to stretch out his hand, and the sea opens — making a path where there was none. This reading calls us to trust the Lord completely. Even when everything seems lost, God opens the way. His power shines most clearly when we are at our weakest. Gospel (Matthew 12:38-42): In the Gospel, some scribes and Pharisees ask Jesus for a sign. He replies that no sign will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Just as Jonah was a sign to Nineveh, Jesus is the ultimate sign of God's presence. He also mentions the queen of the South who sought Solomon's wisdom, reminding us that something greater is now here. This passage warns us not to ignore what is already in front of us. God has given us the greatest sign of all — Jesus Christ, His living Word and divine wisdom made flesh. Reflection and Call to Faith Today's readings call us to deeper trust and conversion. May we recognize God's hand in our story and follow Him with confidence, even through the impossible. May the Word of God today strengthen your faith! Share in the comments how God has worked in your life — especially when all seemed lost. 📖 Readings of the Day: First Reading: Exodus 14:5-18 Gospel: Matthew 12:38-42
