Nvidia has struck a deal worth more than $900 million to bring in Enfabrica CEO Rochan Sankar, other employees from the AI hardware startup, and a license to its technology, according to CNBC. The transaction, paid in cash and stock, closed last week and marks a move similar to acquihires at Meta and Google. Enfabrica was founded in 2019 and builds technology that connects over 100,000 GPUs, strengthening Nvidia’s integrated systems strategy. Nvidia has traditionally invested in AI startups rather than acquiring them, with its $6.9 billion Mellanox purchase in 2019 standing as its largest deal. The company recently announced a $5 billion Intel stake and other investments in AI infrastructure.
