Meta plans to sell $2 billion in data center assets to help offset soaring AI infrastructure costs that could surpass $100 billion in the coming years, according to Benzinga. In a quarterly filing, the company disclosed that it approved a plan in June to sell certain data center assets, reclassifying $2.04 billion worth of land and construction-in-progress as "held-for-sale." CFO Susan Li said Meta is seeking financial partners for select data center projects. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has described AI superclusters spanning the size of Manhattan as essential for powering generative AI and superintelligence. Meta’s second-quarter revenue hit $47.52 billion, beating estimates, with AI-enhanced ad targeting fueling gains.
